Missed those headlights..

That'll mostly be due to it being a Rover... Interesting failure, a correctly set up sunroof should be 1mm lower at the front edge of the roof and 1mm higher at the back edge (IIRC), I wonder if yours was correct or if its just a case of an old seal failing as you suggested.

Sold :)

I mostly have already, its version 2 of the base block I am on now post bore honing etc. Paul, stick with a stock ABF across the board, its a very capable block and only light breathing mods (inlet and exhaust) coupled with megasquirt see the ABF kick out around 170bhp with a good wide torque band, if you want the extra revs then the diesel crank won't help. The KR exhaust valve is only sligtly larger than the ABF unit at 98.25mm vs 97.95, again for the faff involved I would stick with the ABF unit. As for cams again a supercharged lump needs a more specialised cam (you don't want a lot of valve overlap as it wastes the high flow low pressure boost) but once again the factory ABF cam is a very good starting point. As for the 8k, a stock ABF should be able to handle that figure without too much difficulty but I would consider the relative charger speed at 8k (are you going with a stock sized charger pulley or smaller?) I would recommend that if you are going to the 8k point a dynamic balance of the piston, conrods, crank and flywheel will be very beneficial along with a decent sized oil cooler. Overall most of the work is getting the pulley alignment and belt tensioning routing to a good point, I believe an ABF is much easier in this regard as a lot of it already lines up without the need for spacers etc.

[For Sale]Highly Customised G60 Charge Cooling Solution
Yandards replied to Yandards's topic in Parts for Sale
Yes he seems interested just trying to sort the price out. As soon as he agrees I will let you know about the RSR outlet. -
Nugget yellow your thing? If so I have one...
-
Sorry folks I have had no time at all to look into this, although it seems some folks have had the time! Be very interested to see what Kip's producers come back with.
-
Nice work Dave, how does the 'new' foam compare to the old in terms of reinforcing and density?
-
Yes it is :) You have PM and I will lock this up.
-
I have one, complete with no damage, call it £20 posted.
-
Good to see you have the resolution you wanted even if it took longer than you wanted.

Alas G60 auto harness is obsolete. Your best bet is probably on VW Vortex (US site) as more of the American cars would have had auto boxes, you will need a Auto sourced throttle body too as there kickdown function for the auto box is provided by a throttle potentiometer on the throttle body.

Things you hate other people do to your car...
Yandards replied to guildmage's topic in General Car Chat
Where to start, just general car protective issues like any enthusiast I guess, we all treat our cars with pride and car but most folks only see cars as an appliance or utility. Passengers not been too bad, although Supercharged tends to poke everything when he gets in the car, worst one I ever had was coming back to find a group of people having a chat and one of them was using my boot as something to lean on - not happy and he soon shifted though. -
Do it, despite your VR just needing paint to get it to a great standard this is a very very good buy.

[For Sale]Highly Customised G60 Charge Cooling Solution
Yandards replied to Yandards's topic in Parts for Sale
Yeah, RSR outlet, bolt, silicon reducer hose from RSR outlet to boost pipework and a joiner pipe. -
Damn, just re-read this thread to refresh my memory, you have come so far over so little time and to such a very high standard it seems such a shame that you can no longer keep it. If I had 3k spare I would take it off you right now as you have sorted all the bits that worry me, bodywork etc.
-
Ah, that's the easy part, simply unlatch the crimps from the plug housing - laser do a set of tools, no need to cut and solder that way. Good to know it's doable though.

[For Sale]Highly Customised G60 Charge Cooling Solution
Yandards replied to Yandards's topic in Parts for Sale
Sam, genuine BBM one although pre machined outlet fins (they only take an angle off). I need G60 CS to say yes to the rest of the kit prior to selling the RSR though. -
If I did it all again then I would go down the 2l ABF route, good block and it has all the sensors required for highly effective engine mapping. Charger ok with larger displacement blocks, 300bhp is achievable but 250bhp is a much better aiming mark without spending too much. Stacked headgaskets will also work, sounds very ghetto modification but has been proven to be highly reliable.

Bit of a terminology confusion here I think. The Corrado lower windscreen trim comes in 3 pieces and has 2 x holes in the drivers side and central piece for the windscreen wiper arm attachment points - these stay the same throughout the production run of the Corrado. Scuttle covers (bit where the wiper motor, ECU and interior fan intake live); Corrados never had a full length scuttle cover (like the mk 2) only a short section cover the interior fan intake (foliage grill) area. You can make a mk 2 item fit with a spot of cutting and by warming the plastic with a hair dryer etc and a wiper motor cover from a 93-97 era Passat finishes the job off.

Yandards replied to Yandards's topic in Parts for Sale
Works for me that way, I have Jim and Supercharged up visiting until Tuesday so I won't be able to get it packed up etc until then. £425 posted for the chargecooling bits and £75 posted for the RSR outlet gents? -
Screw still fitted for idle adjustment in the throttle body?

[For Sale]Highly Customised G60 Charge Cooling Solution
Yandards replied to Yandards's topic in Parts for Sale
The difference between a pro alloy FMIC and this setup will be negligable as its the constant pipe bore and removal of restrictions like the plastic silencer box and the rubbish intercooler that really help with the CFM. Not willing to break for piece part spares yet as this is a complete kit as it stands. -
[For Sale]Highly Customised G60 Charge Cooling Solution
Yandards replied to Yandards's topic in Parts for Sale
Cheaper than a Rallye FMIC solution! Total cost of new bits amended as I can't add up, its now just under a £1000 like it should be :/ -
I keep intending to do this on my 16vG60 but the weather is rubbish everytime I get chance to do it, guessing it would be a bit of messing around with the base but there is no reason you couldn't swap the seat section only over.
