1. Yes to the just stuck on and you can make up a block from some high density foam.
2. Me, nugget G60, although its going to be needing a new home soon :(
3. Balls, thats rubbish. You really need to focus on the here and now and concentrate on getting it sorted out as best you can, pushing yourself by going back to work will just mess up your long term recovery. Autos should be ok and I think the kick down is quite responsive, the earlier VR boxes came with a sport switch which was dumped on later models - the control solenoids tend to go wrong and a new 'pack' costs the better part of a few hundred pounds.
4. But it goes around corners so much better Good to see if finally home Kip, good luck finding some new under bonnet foam :(
5. Bit high at that level, should not really see much more than 110 deg C or so on a VR. If the rad temps are matching the oil temps (as they should) then it is likely you will need a replacement radiator - consider that most VRs are on their original rads that will be over 15 years old by now and full of crud, bent fins and dead insects so they won't work too well. A replacement rad in my VR now gives a rock steady set of both coolant and oil temps, you can't expect the car to stay cool in traffic when the cooling system is well past its best.
6. Looking good, soon be back on the road then!

Ooops

Oh dear. Shame its in the best colour too.
8. An S2 will need cutting down and an adapter plate welding on to fit the G60 throttle body, you also won't be able to use the 16v fuel rail either. Another option is RPM Tuning in Germany's manifold, its like an S2 one but is a new casting, they also provide a fuel rail - beware there delivery times though, it took me 4 months when I last ordered from them and I had to threaten legal action (which saw an instant delivery within 3 days..) I do have a double handed 16v manifold with a blanking plate (had an extra TB adapter welding on the other side) if you are interested, call it £100 posted.
9. Reading between the lines during the qualy yesterday it would seem the both MB and DC are not currently going to be employed by Sky (comment about which drivers will be in front of them in the job centre queue next year), so I am going to guess the BBC coverage next year will be a direct feed from the Sky team. Problem is finding someone good to do it, the ITV bunch were bloody hopeless - Jim Rosenthal and Tony Jardine!?! as the hosts were terrible, all the charisma of Arnold J Rimmer's little toe, I just hope they don't do what Sky normally do with Sports coverage and provide some rubbish over analysis with those stupid digital crayons they use in the cricket and football all the time. The Beebs F1 coverage strikes a good balance between informative with a spot of humour - you never know what stupid thing is going come out of Eddie Jordans mouth nor who is going to mock his dress sense. 24 hours on and I am still pee'd off about the whole thing and I am not adding another £372 / year to Sky's £1 billion profit margin either.
10. I thought the BBC deal experied in 2013 not 2018? Humn, flicking through the freeview last night there is sky sports 1 and 2 show as available channels but you need the decoder module plugged in to view it, although it seems it would still be at least £30 not including set-up fees per month - I enjoy F1 but not that much.
11. I do work at Lossie but was not in work yesterday during the day as I was on nights. I know of a black VR and there a couple of others around but that is it. Oh and merging this thread with the 'Corrado Spotting' one.
12. Poopy, was mega annoyed about this, it seems of all qualy will be live on the BBC but we only get 50% of the races live and rest in a highlights package. I don't know if the commentary team will be the same between the 2 broadcasters - I hope so as the current set-up is the best it has been since Murray left the box. I guess I will see more free weekends as I am not contributing to Skys £1 billion operating profit from 10.4 million customers so it will have to be highlights from next year for half the coverage :( Better than not having coverage at all on normal TV I guess, at least this way is set-up to run until 2018 it was all looking ropey from the end of next year.
13. Heh, yeah they are quarter turn after torque loading on install with a no re-use label so they must be - I didn't know that until recently either!
14. I've run my G60 as a daily for the last 3+ years and it's a great car for the job, fun to drive but ultimately if I want something fun thats why I built the 16vG60. So as a daily something newer and diesel powered is more appealing as I will still have access to a 'rado to play around with that I can keep tidy and overhaul bits without having to worry about getting the job done in a weekend. Do they feel old? Yes and no, compared to say a mk 6 then yes the interior dials etc seem dated (I prefer retro chic) but at the same time the Corrado is quite refined when driving, very little road noise and very comfortable to drive long distances in. The real difference between the 'rado and a newer car is that is lacks a 6 speed gearbox that would help the fuel economy. You will also struggle with some critical spares, seat bolsters are no longer available new as with many of the interior bits - but given your history I am sure a new interior wouldn't be much of a challenge..
15. Lockage then to stop duplicate threads etc
16. I don't think either the main shaft or the 5th gear bolt where done up more than finger tight, as it was miss-behaving with 5th gear selection from the start. It was a cheap box for the specification and had not been tested so there was always a slight gamble with it. If I had more time prior to the run down to BVF I would have pulled the end plate earlier to see what was going on. It's only been the end case that has stopped the bolts coming out completely so its a good advert for how durable the gearbox is - no wonder I had to double de-clutch and rev match to get it to engage 5th! I think I may have to clean the earths up a touch as my in car voltage meter is not showing more than 12v during the charging phase post start, I would expect to see numbers closer to 13v just after an engine start as the alternator is working to charge the battery, that would also explain the complete lack of extra revs during the cold start phase as well and the generally poor idle behaviour, another job for Friday along with the comp test, oil change and a few other bits, the joys of a rolling prototype I guess! Aide, thanks it's been through a few evolutions to get it where it is now and there is always a better way to do something once you have it worked out the first time!
17. Bumper is early, the way the top trim line blends into the lower wheel arch area is angled at the end, the late ones just have the line fade out without the direction change. As for wings, really hard to spot the difference, they are just slightly wider at the arch bulge point to accomodate the wider tyres fitted to the VRs - as long as they are both the same then its not an issue.
18. Box that was bought, aside from that it has been working without any issues!
19. You need new water pump to block bolts as they are one time use only as they are stretch bolts.
20. and on a H plate that means it has been replaced.
21. Cable tie is easiest option.
22. I found the cause of the gearbox issue on Friday afternoon, I had ordered up a new syncro ring for 5th to fix the issue of it popping out of 5th when I come off the throttle pedal. On removing the gearbox end plate I was suprised to find this: There was some heat damage to the paint on the end casing so it would seem that the only thing holding my 5th gear in has been the end plate for the last 1200 miles!! Amazing it all still continued to work without any major issue that I could not drive around and the three small pieces of metal that retain the syncro mechanism and one of large metal rings were just floating around in the casing so it was lucky one of those didn't get stuck in the gears. All rebuilt now and working perfectly, shift is much nicer although I need to adjust the height selection cable slightly to improve the shift feel. Been giving it a bit more loud pedal recently just to see what it's like, when it wants to pull properly it feels very quick but the fuelling is off most of the time and I have to keep it off the wide open throttle microswitch or it all goes very wrong. The idle is still very rough and I have an occasional missfire at all points through the rev range - I suspect this is fuelling but I will be pulling the spark plugs at the weekend and doing a compression test to see if everything is settling down properly. I suspect the supercharger drive belt is a little bit too tight so I am looking at longer options now, I want to swap out the 2 pulleys I am currently using for the idler rollers for a set of standard ones to make maintainance easier in the longer term so I need to factor that into the belt length guesswork. The only other engine issue is the oil breather continues to vent a little oil mist over the O/S/F inner wing area, it's a cheap K&N style item so I plan to replace it with a proper K&N one to see if that improves things prior to adding an extra oil breather line back to boost return.
23. Please do not create any more threads asking for a pipercross filter, if you are that desperate for one then you could always buy a new one. Thanks.
24. One post is enough thanks so locked..
25. Maybe but you should not be seeing the figures you are in traffic, it might be a dodgy temp sender but I think it is unlikely that both of them are duff. As it is only traffic it could be a dodgy fan not turning fast enough to shift some air.
