  1. keen to find alternative 305mm disc options. as these seem to be the weak link. anyone whos got any ideas, share em...
  2. I doubt you'll find anything that is as good as the AP racing kit for less money, they're as expensive as they are because it's a top of the line kit that's amongst the best you can get, anything with similar performace will cost similar money. For us mere mortals - we'll stick with the 'lesser' brembo kits then ;)
  3. What can be had for less than the AP kit? and work as well?
  4. A guy on here was selling mo's with ET20 and mentioned brembos will fit fine. i chose not to change to 5 stud though so didn't take them in the end. The discs for the brembos are pretty heavy too - once they warp i'll look at changing... any idea how good the wear rate is in the ap kit? i wanted the whole kit but it was just too much money on top of other things i wanted done. Pads - I was going to go for the DS2500's as they are little more friendly and won't damage wheels like the DS3000s will (so I've read, not experienced first hand). Pagid must have a similar pad. All interesting stuff. Will take it out of track and form some of my own decisions - the track is an excellent test bed ;) EDIT: Kev I asked on a thread about Jon Maliks car - I wanted to know more about it. Interested to know what spring rates etc he's using and what gearbox setup he has. Do you have any idea - I know you're chums with the Stealth guys!
  5. good chat here. i believe 15" mo's with ET20 will cover the brembos? do you know of any other discs that would work? ap's, wilwood etc? pad choice would help surely?
  6. I cant get to the drivertuition page - is that the correct url? but is the warping caused by heat build up within the one piece caliper, crap pads and/or crap discs? I honestly think if the pads and discs were changed, the warping wouldn't be a problem. thoughts?
  7. corozin on here tracks his corrado and uses the brembo setup - I recall him saying he's never had problems with warped discs. I'm sure its possible to exchange the discs for better ones from other manufacteurs anyway
  8. those have already sold i think. ap are likely to be the best (with a relatively sensible price). next best - probably pick between a bunch of them - you've listed the main contenders. seat brembo's are the usual choice due to availability and cost.
  9. well sell a set of wheels then to raise the cash. you could have fixed it by now if you didn't buy the other things - honestly. you never know - it may have only cost 200... make a plan and stick to it. otherwise this will go on forever... you're missing the point again mate - if you sell the spare/extras then you can claw back some money for fixing the running problem. if your plan/goal is to fix the car and sell it - then focus on that.
  10. Definately not overlooked on mine  I have literally replaced every switch/item you can think of bar the odd few...would be easier to list what i havent changed! i unfortunately have a similar list with some different items on a spreadsheet - very expensive isn't it. fair enough - plenty done to it - i know the feeling! I think 4k is still optimistic in reality - but no-ones telling you not to list it at 4.5k and see what happens... If I were you, I'd definitely take it to a specialist and get them to fix the problem, get it confirmed that its resolved and list it for sale - the history will be, well history! ;) And stop bloody spending money on styling mods and get the problem sorted!
  11. yeah. just i know how much it costs to put g60s right. and i've not bothered too much with the cosmetics yet. just the mechanics - none of it is cheap. always feel thats overlooked and thats where the complaints about the g60/corrado start... anyway - not my car so not too worried! lol but gave my opinion, someone else's turn.
  12. no offense then - but if a paint job, smoothing and some wheels ensures a sale at 4.5k then I think the rest of us G60 owners should get those done... Its above what the market trends are saying at the moment - but if its possible - then take it!
  13. i always thought for a bottom end rebuild and all the bits you'd want to do while the opportunity is there you're looking min 1500, more like 3500 by the time you've finished as you will want to replace a lot more than just the pistons and rings... you could start looking at rods, pumps, pulleys, belts, head, pipes, mounts, sump, clutch, flywheel, gearbox! your basics though are pistons and rings, boring, bearings etc, balancing, gasket sets, bolts... Its not long unfortunately before you realise you're better to do it all at once to save you hassle later. how much you do yourself can lower the costs significantly. time is another factor to consider however...
  14. 4k for a G60 is a pretty tall order. For that I'd expect a rebuild, respray, list of performance mods etc etc etc. Its the top bracket. Even good VR's aren't consistently getting above that. You will make a loss on it. The running problems like I said have been high profile on this forum which won't be an encouragement - theres loads of history for people to read up on. Don't set yourself high expectations like 4k - as you will end up dropping in price a lot, like the others have. The best thing you ca do is get your running issues sorted first and make the decision to either keep or sell.
  15. thats bloody awesome driving....love it! the manx rally video - that driver is an animal. fantastic driving... Not so 80's, but this VTEC converted S1 Exige does it for me (I'd far rather it than the GT3 in the vid).
  16. don't want to sound like a salesman here - but maybe have a chat to Darren from Gwerks - somewhere else to chat abotu engine options. You should try and chat to as many people as possible about engine builds.
  17. £225! ouch. my one is rusted away in places too... I need to get a new radiator cowl - anyone know the price of that as its also rusted away badly at the bottom. I've tried sanding it all off but its too rusty in areas and a new one would be a better call. Most of it is under the radiator - would that be due to a leak (or several) at some point?
  18. Heres my honest opinion... Not that many G60s are getting over 3k at the moment so it seems - more like 2k+. Being realistic - its been brought to everyones attention that the car has had running issues of some sort for a long time now - and that a potentially large (or small) bill is waiting for the buyer to pick up immediately - unless you settle it first. So that will work against you when selling, as of course buyers will factor in a large bill as worst case scenario. Cosmetically it looks good, once the gastly yellow lights and bra are got rid of! Not sure of a figure but look to get 2.5k give or take £300. If you get more then great - but everyone whos tried selling a G60 at 3-4K lately has eventually come down to below 3k (and without running issues). Don't sell the extra bits along with the car - it won't return your money. Sell them separately.
  19. check the for sale section - few engines going including a full g60 re-build
  20. ^^ they fit the car a treat!
  21. or on a 16" x 7.5" go for 215/40/R16s - loads of grip and tyres are the perfect shape - look hard as nails.
  22. love threads like this - as soon as i have a garage when down in edinburgh - i'll be doing this too. good stuff - keep the posts coming!
  23. i think if you want to keep it - you should store it for a few months and save for a trip to somewhere that can fix the problems - i'm guessing gwerks should. trust me its worth paying the extra thats needed to just get the car sorted out. i did that recently and love the g60 again.
  24. you'll do that and want to go back out on track straight away again - trust me. next time take your Corrado - they're not bad on track you know...
