for reference, mine made 203bhp 195lbs/ft with the below: - std charger - std intercooler - 68mm pulley - sns 5.5 - big valve head - piper 285 cam - 4-2-1 and decat so... you'd benefit quite a lot from a bv head and cam next

Joe M has a VR box with a quaiffe fitted for sale right now - in exchange for another VR box - bit more expensive - and too late by the sounds of it...

Yeah I want a track car. I could go mad on the Corrado but don't think its the right car. An Elise is what I'm looking at now along with a £400 fiesta to get the bikes around :) When I say go mad on the Corrado - I could easily spend another 3-5k on it on the right mods (generally handling, braking and gearing), but don't have an idea of how good the car will be after that moneys spent. At the moment its a perfect compromise. Instead of spending all that money, I could sell and buy an Elise with suspension etc etc already sorted out - and I already know how good they are on track so - I think my mind is made up. Spent loads on this car and mechanically its really superb - so will lose the benefit of that unfortunately. PM me if interested. -
mate the gear knob looks miles away from the steering wheel! does that bother you anytime? i find its too far forward - and having it higher and closer to the wheel would be great.

back from the dead... Simon did you get your gauges sorted after raising the rev limit?

cant remember whether its on or off throttle - will check on my way home from work...
-
Funny you should say that - I've just fitted Vibratechnics comp front, fast road gearbox and rear mounts - and my gearbox has a very slight whine to it now - feels way way better though.
-
is it an option to buy one and then not show any pictures of it anywhere on the internet? ;)
-
aren't you tempted? ;)

Did you speak to biggerbigben? Whats the difference between the std 20v ratios and the mk4 tdi ratios? I can't help with the use of later 02j boxes and/or whether they need different driveshafts, selectors etc. I'd fit an atb diff in the replacement box now to save you hassle later - at least thats it done and you can enjoy it now rather than ages in the future. Have you asked on dubforce? not sure theres enough people on here to answer...
-
i second the burning of that bra! ;)
-
cheers :) a fair bit extra to buy then... exhaust isn't too much pain but the suspension is! will be interested to see this done and how you find it
-
just re-read the list of things you had to buy; whats the lift pump? and can an existing exhaust be used? you also mentioned suspension - i take it you intended to replace the suspension previously fitted?
-
agree on suspension. you certainly do get what you pay for. only tried vipertech (which were terrible) and leda (think they're great).

I have a supersprint full system - got 2 silencer boxes (mid and rear) - i think its still too loud - but then I do have a noisy engine to start with (g60) and tubular manifold which probably contributes to some extra noise. i really want less noise tbh.
-
Wouldn't the CTN box fit too?
-
H8RRA - are you still doing these? not keen on the std shifting - far too long. If it was possible I'd move the shifter location about 1-2" back too - its too far forward imo. Just out of curiosity too - whats the gearbox you've got fitted - watched a video somewhere of your car through the range and was shifting up very quickly. could do with some of that myself
-
so just get clear protectors - you can barely notice they're on. and will work for the front bumper too - which undeniably gets the most chips! surely the car bra will scratch the paintwork a bit over time anyway. a friend has the clear protectors on his elise - over probably 50% of the front clam and you can't notice its there except for when you look for the edges close up.
