    steering rack

seems to be using part number comparisons
  2. My name went up when it was only at 500 signings ;) Its a money making scheme thats dressed up as global green friendliness. Its been discussed non stop at work...
  3. same here! i had all sorts of issues with the pipes too - had to run them round the engine bay to get them out - as I couldn't get them off the rack column. it was a nightmare.
  4. Will - have you the late front end already fitted? would love to see an engine shot of it all fitted.
  5. looking forward to seeing the pics and vids of this one. No problem Will - interested to hear back when you're free.
  6. access was awful as the car was on axle stands and made the job a nightmare - but had I have had a ramp - reckon it'd have been relatively simple
  7. Excellent info above. I thought they were only made in LHD and that any RHD ones are fobbed off as 'rare UK versions'. The steering rack is pretty important - but can be upgraded from a later model with a few mods (spacer on subframe etc - as a side point - couldn't believe the size of the column UJ's - they're huge!). As above - it'd definately a weekend car, not a daily car. I think the Corrado would do the daily tasks unless it became essential to run a newer car. Theres a rule with the e30 m3 owners apparently - the $15k rule. One way or another you'll eat through $15k. What are the BMW parts prices compared to VAG? And yeah the s14 engine shouldn't be swapped - its perfectly poised for weight distribution and provides the intended power and peaks for the car. A lot I've seen seem to have one or two engine rebuilds by now.
  8. i think the chap on here (is it user called tonedef?) said he had the last service charge of £1800. that i think included the awd service. £1800 service bills are simply ridiculous costs for s3's. decided it definately wasn't the car for me after reading that!
  9. Have been reading about them for the last 2 days - have always liked them and was another teenage dream car like the Corrado was. Going to do more research about them and have already started to wade through the endless E30 v E46 debates. Seems the 2.5L conversion is quite popular. Have uncovered a few places that source them and several things to look for - but what I am interested in are opinions of any Corrado owners (past or present) who've owned one themselves and their experiences of the car, costs involved, what its like to work on yourself, problems encountered etc. Without going into great length about personal opinion - its the raw/in-touch/alive (and basic) feeling I love about the Corrado (and that prevents me from buying any modern cars - despite trying) - I want to know if Corrado owners feel the e30 m3 offers all of that and more. Have gathered a good few of us here have a fondness towards them - any good information about them would be great 8) Thanks p.s. For the curious... http://www.m3forum.net/m3forum/showthread.php?t=141873 Not into the addition of the turbo personally - but interesting to see none the less.
  10. tried the s3 - was a little disappointed myself. Thought a compromise between performance and comfort/reliability/etc etc was the answer - but realised after trying that compromising came at a great loss. Kept the corrado in the end. Nice looking car, drove well, had all the 'bells and whistles', great daily car, no doubt about it - just couldn't seem to find the fun factor in it. but can appreciate why so many corrado owners move on to it.
  11. when you get a chance - would love to know the answer to some of the above questions Will ;)
  12. Will - thanks - great info - I didn't realise you could do it without changing the drive system - always thought the wide track kit/subframe etc was needed. Granted that'd save loads of hassle and cost. Does the vr lump fit straight to the existing g60 engine mounts? Is it a tighter fit with the narrower wings? And not having to change the bonnet is definitely a good thing - I much prefer the early style bonnet. Has your insurance gone up dramatically? The engine - did it come with downpipe etc? And the loom - not sure about the structure of the loom between exterior and interior - but did you have to bother with any new fittings in the interior? May be a lot easier than i thought! I love my g60 to bits - had all sorts of mixed plans over the last year - but settled on keeping it and continually developing it (despite thoughts drifting off to e30 m3's lately...). Had considered swapping to a vr6 in the past - but think if the corrado stays (which it will) - either turbo conversion (IHIG60 on here has had great success with this) or this option would be on the future list. Sure you had these same questions not that long ago?
  13. sorted :) this thread can just be deleted then.
  14. didn;t know there was one - probably easier to move it!
  15. Seen one parked across from me today - wondered whether it was anyone from here?
  16. i was led to believe they are not sold new. just old stock. will try the german ebay - usually just wheels that come up though rather than center caps unfortunately
  17. a rare item indeed then!
  18. Looks nice - how much did changing it over from the g60 setup cost roughly? and what all did you end up having to get? assuming full engine/loom/assembly, charger, subframe, hubs, trackrods?, 5 stud wheels no doubt?, later bonnet - what did i include wrong or miss?
  19. do any of you know where to buy the shultz or stnechip stuff? any common company names?
  20. I have a set of Borbet B's (http://www.tunershop.de/felgen/felgen/borbet-b.html) but with the Borbet A caps (flat). I've been searching for a set of the caps with the diamonds within - resembling the continuation of the cross spokes. Have tried a few places - but have had no success. Does anyone know ANYWHERE these can be bought/found? Thanks
  21. samg60 isn't a bad guy to ask for advice ;) and Dan a 13row is sufficient.
