some strange and comedy ones (a lot of others have been mentioned above); torque wrench that'll do 20Nm for knock sensor tip-ex for timing marks! mirror for doing g60 inlet/exhaust manifold bolts when leaving the head on (nightmare and nuisance) jubilee clips to replace the horrid spring clips 8T torx head for removing the circuit board from the gauge cluster (if doing DDI gauges)

water pump is around 25 quid exchange from vag. oil pump is also cheap from vag - around the same i think (though best to confirm with someone else). oil coolers - you can fit a mocal 13row remote cooler - lots of info on the forum about this - and can purchase for around 130 for a kit from gwerks or other suppliers. can be fitted in front of the radiator or if running a fmic, where the stock ic used to be for improved airflow. definately worth doing.

looks nice - that 40mm drop and it'll be lust :) can you tell me how you fitted those brackets to the badgeless grill? self tapping screws? are they totally hidden? i need to do this too... -
cool. i'm not taking all of it off - just around the cracked parts to ensure a good seal. i think merely sanding it back slightly and then a coating of red oxide primer and another of hammerite with waxoyl/sealant should do the job. gwerks have recommended a wurth product to use - so i'll see how it goes. thanks for the help :)

I've lifted the carpets as overhauling my g60 at the moment - and the sealant/wax/paint VW put over the chassis floor has dried in places and is starting to crack. I want to chip/sand those areas away and reseal/paint. I'm referring to the black looking waxy paint - its almost like tar - and in places quite thick. Does anyone know what stuff is used? Imagining some of the guys who have totally stripped their cars might know. Thanks

= educated. cheers :)

andycowuk ran his coilovers without bump stops - no problems whatsoever - and i'm 110% positive he hit more than a few potholes around the shocking edinburgh roads. he said he had no problems. fit them if youre feeling unsure about it.
-
now this is i'd call 'off the clock' LOL
-
that makes sense to me david. how do you know what length of bump stop required for coilovers? is it as simple as assuming an 'un-lowered' coilover unit has the same standard length of compression available as original units?
-
whats the cause of needing the bottom end rebuilt? that would help to determine what you can/should do since you're on a budget
-
have heard from a few people that they're not necessary. i'd check that with quite a few people first.
-
as Supercharged has said - dont do what the haynes manual says - just the 2 bolts and 1 for abs if you have it. reckon you could do them in situ but dont think its too much trouble to take the shocks off entirely.
-
ok so H4s for outers and H3s for inners. cool - thanks
-
just to confirm - the H4s are main head lights and H3 are full beams?
-
those are some pretty sexy wheels....

am missing a few things off your list - but not 100 miles behind - might have given me an estimate - fitting BV head tomorrow. judging from others - you'll benefit from a 68mm pulley, but likely wont be night and day. would make belt sourcing easier perhaps? save and put an IHI on there ;)
-
sandy what does your car put out at the moment?
-
had the same issue - couldn't remove it - and i was pulling with considerable force! convinced a tab or something is jamming it - just don't want to break it
-
i think those speedlines that nickvr6 has look fantastic! they match the look of the corrado very well

savage! some transformation over the course of the year! keep posting a few videos up as you go - and good luck - sure its very exciting! -
whats better - having it the way you want it (if it takes 6-12 months then does that really matter?) or having an alternative car. thats the question then... i want all sorts for my car, it'll take another 2 years to pay for it all, but until that goal is no longer what i want, i'm happy to wait. same applies...
-
isn't it due to money issues over actually wanting to get rid of the corrado? if he wants to get rid of the corrado regardless then the conclusion is pretty straight forward. owning a pos car like what i said above would buy you some time to get finances sorted out then enjoy the corrado every day again.

Been in this situation lots of times. The g60 ownership has been a love hate affair for around a year now. Thought of selling it and getting a cheap a4 1.8 or v6 tdi - but then you lose so much in driving enjoyment, depreciation - and eventually you'll just start fixing the things you've likely already fixed in the Corrado. I wasn't convinced it was a way to save money at all. In fact, the best way to save money was to stop spending soo much on mods etc on the Corrado full stop. Since then I decided to keep the Corrado (SORN'ed and not used for around 6 months now) and run a cheap estate (bought for under £300) and that has done me 6 months already. Sure it's not exactly pimp, but when all you pay is diesel fill ups who cares. In 12 months I will have saved enough to a) pay to get any niggles with the corrado fixed to stop annoying me and b) consider replacing the cheap estate with a decent daily driver. The misses could potentially drive the daily driver and you don't lose your 24V "toy" (that you really want to keep so you can tinker with it). In summary I think you should keep, take it off the road to save cash and buy a cheap runaround till you are 100% sure.
