after tinting and lacquering - how long roughly does the tint last?
-
lol i've just posted in another thread just like this one. i've been driving an old citroen zx estate that i bought for 280 quid for 9 months while working on my car. i had to sorn it to save pennies for flat things, a few trips abroad and to generally take my time over winter to do what i wanted to the g60. now its all back in action - i can't wait to enjoy the manic driving again and feel the difference compared to the boat like qualities of the estate. it'll be night and day.
-
i know using citrus based products is friendly to your seals - but last time i tried ag machine cleaner i was left quite disappointed. tried gunk on a few different parts afterwards and the result was almost night and day.
-
mines been off the road for 9 months - only this week have i finished everything needed to get it mot'ed and mapped. To say I'm excited about driving the g60 everyday again within the next 2 weeks is a serious understatement! And over the past few months the condition has been getting better and better - its never been in such a good condition as now - I can't bl00dy wait!!!!

welcome - as i said - dont have a huge amount of info on this work - but it has been done. Do a search for C. Will Corrado G60 2's members thread and read the content - he's done this conversion from g60 to supercharged VR and is pretty pleased with the work. he also stuck with narrow track so kept his original rack, hubs etc etc. would personally be interesred to know any opinions on keeping the narrow track after fitting a vr engine... and good luck - keep us up to date on what you end up doing...
-
you technically dont have to move to the wide track setup. and the early bonnet will fit - just it makes things very tight. theres an argument you'd sacrifice handling sticking with narrow track due to the extra 30kg of the vr lump - but not sure whether the dfference would be major after having good dampers/springs, new bushes and arbs/struts - sure someone here can chip in! regardless, moving to wide track is not cheap - if so, you need hubs/carriers/wheels/driveshafts/rack+rods/brakes/rear axle in addition to the already necessary front cross member, engine mounts (I think youd need all 3). i dont think you need to replace the subframe or front wings. and using a schimmel log gets around changing your bonnet. theres probably other stuff but thats what i've picked up with some reading in the past
-
are you replacing all the seals and glass?
-
I reckon they could yeah. Dave what other stainless bits to you do?
-
i changed these over a year ago. piece of piss. like supercharged said - do one strap at a time.
-
gearbox off - blimmin heck!
-
i reckon you could get a set of used brembos for 350-400 depending on pad and disc wear - and also what hoses are used. for 1k i'd get an ap racing kit
-
and its his money so who else does he need to please? if i buy wheels say - i buy them because i like them - i don't give a monkeys if anyone else does or not its way more than any sensible person should spend - but at the end of the day - its his money so he can do what he wants with it - and has!
-
clever marketing eh those cars are putrid looking!
-
imo! only a moron would spend 7k on a few tubs of wax.
-
i think if the astra owners read this thread they'd piss themselves. its like people are justifying why they like corrados over astras. seriously - this thread has fa to do with corrados! how come every similar thread ends up a corrado vs [insert other car here] debate... edit - and anyone paying that kind of money for wax (just WAX!) - regardless of the car its going on - needs to visit the cuckoo institute.
-
they came off the e30 m3 - and have a different offset yeah - 20 afaik.
-
my borbet b's use different bolts - 60deg radius - gwerks supply them otherwise
-
Any chance of a closer picture of the SWG vent please Andy? may consider selling my original console gauge holder for one of these - could reclaim the cubby hole which i miss!
-
PM'ed you ;)
-
i get perfectly what you mean. and i've just explained my take on it. on the contrary, you dont get what i am replying with. anyway i'm not that bothered to be perfectly frank - his money
-
they're seeing people fitting 2L engines into tiny light cars and then (in straight line runs) blowing off evos and the like. of course theyre loving it! i know a guy up here whos done it. i wouldn't swap my car for his in a million years - but he couldn't be happier. i think the mentality of beating everything else comes from the hype of a new car/new engine etc. corrados have had plenty of time to find their place on the road.
-
i'm not talking about which is technically better. i'm saying he rates his car, we rate ours. who says its not foolish to spend money on an old 15-16yo car? horses for courses.
-
looks like over excessive behaviour brought on from child like excitement of getting his new car. can understand why he did all that. personally think the micron testing etc is just daft after buying a fresh new car - but each to our own. interesting to see how quickly this turned into a Corrado vs Astra debate. Who cares?
