Finally the new Dub Project.... Another set of wheels!
coolrado replied to 24V Renshaw's topic in Members Gallery
how about finding a tiny VW badge instead of a blanking plug for the wiper hole?, or a camera linked to a screen in the front and get rid of the interior mirror? with just a blanking plug its going to look a bit unfinnished and will allways just look like a de-wipered boot, its a shame you cant get the rear screen without the hole and the lump in the black border. I have seen those windscreen repair places fill some pretty bit chips in windscreens before so i wonder if it would be possible to fill the wiper hole? -

i didnt realise how different that was until i noticed the standard mk4 in the background  its going to be one of those cars where people do a double take trying to work out whats different. the standard of work looks superb looking forward to what the finnished article will look like -
dont tell the insurance you dropped them outside, as far as you know they could have fished them through the letterbox with a hook on a stick, its very common for that to happen.
-
its a nice feeling knowing you fixed it yourself isnt it main question is how many screws did you have left over?

i love watching stuff like that rocket feature, because i cant help thinking to myself how i would have done certain things differently, like the release mechanism, why didnt they just have an upward facing hook with no catch mechanism, then when they wanted to release the robin just deploy a parachute on the main booster so it slowed that down quickly and let the robin continue due to momentum. The only gripe i have with TG is sometimes when i would rather hear the sound of the car (especially things like that merc) they play some w@nky power ballad over the top of it or an annoying sound effect of a big cat growling like they did with the merc and bowler wild cat, as if the real thing wasnt good enough  oh and they should have used a bug instead of a robin as they where lighter and pointier

I watch top gear to be entertained and thats what it is, great entertainment. If people really think an hour long car review program would be better, i suggest you watch some of the car review programs from the US, where they just reel off a list of facts about the car while trying to see how many suitcases they can fit in the back of it, basically what top gear used to be 15 years ago, all VERY tedious and dull, and their viewing figres reflect that. Even if you watch the old 80's review of the corrado with tiff or any of the episodes around that time they just show how cheesy and stiff the format used to be, even though it was only half an hour long some episodes where still boring, I still watched top gear religiously but only because i have an interest in cars. Now they seemed to have combined three of my favourite programs Top Gear, Braniac and scrapheap challenge i personally think it has improved it, who really cares how many MPG the latest piece of crap peugeot does or how many suitcases you can fit in the new volvo estate? if you want that sort of information there is a wonderfull new invention called the "INTERNET" where nerds who want to know the exact wheelbase of a ford KA.ck, or how many cubic feet per minute the interior fan heater on the new citroen can blow can spend as much time as they want. if you dont like what top gear has become then its clearly not being made for you. i also cant stand it when people loose interest in something like top gear when they are just trying to broaden its appeal they accuse the program makers of "dumbing it down" as if they are now too intelligent to watch it, people like that are so far up their own arses IMO, just enjoy it for what it is ....................ENTERTAINMENT.

if you are having problems with the leather dragging on the sewing machine try using some saddle soap on a damp cloth to lube it up  also if you need to shrink the leather a bit you could wet a towel and leave it on the leather for a while until it gets damp and then either chuck them in the tumble drier or leave them in front of a fan heater, you will need to treat the leather afterwards with something to stop it hardening and restore the shine though.

try filling the caliper up with some engine oil first, it will slow down the leak past the seal but make sure you do it somewhere that your not going to spray oil everywhere.
-
definately worth getting powder coated rather than sprayed, spray painted wheels seem to pit very quicky from the brake dust and heat, and when i had a set of wheels that had been sprayed they had nice yellow stains on them after a dog pissed on them :bad-words: check your yellow pages and phone around some of your local powdercoaters, i managed to get 4 bbs rms bead blasted and powdercoated silver with powder coat laquer for around 100quid

yeah i think they where in the same place, i didnt have to drill any new ones anyway.
-
yep i did this on my replacement drivers side door, just drill out the rivots that hold the motor or winder mech in place and unbolt the rails and simply swap it all over and either re-rivot it in like i did or use some small nuts and bolts.
-
well the same happened to mine with the standard front mount and it has also happened to others with the standard mounts so i think its a design flaw with the bracket rather than the use of solid mounts, part of the problem is its only welded in two small areas either side of the bracket where it joins the round plate, i just had mine welded all the way round on both sides and also had an extra brace welded to it to strengthen it, appearantly 1 inch of weld should take 1 ton of shear and it now has about 8 inches of weld

are you using genuine vw replacement flanges? i bought some cheap replacement ones for the front coolant flange and the thermostat housing and they distorted and leaked within the first day, then i bought the proper vw ones and they have been fine since.

which engine?

That's a good tip, you can get a scart lead for under a fiver!! and you could fix 26 washer jets with that 8) i actually used gold plated ones on mine as i had a decent scart lead spare as i only use component now. i had a look at the sqirters on a porsche at the local scrappy and they where quite a nice design, very low profile with 3 jets instead of 2 but they would require a bit of fettling to fit.
-
you can also replace the corroded contacts with the pins from a scart plug, thats how i did mine.
-
unfortunately it says they wont be sent out with orders under 15 quid small print clicky
-
yeah the corrado rear wiper pivots on the left so ideally you would need a wiper with the offset pivot the opposite way to the skoda one?

Pikey scum! :lcop: Caught! And charged! :2gunfire:

you will have to be carefull, the little scrote might try and counter sue you for a personal injury claim  you can just imagine his lawyer explaining how his client was innocently walking down the street minding his own business when suddenly a corrado jumped out from nowhere and tried to bite his hand off with its window  -
you could try some laminex type paint protection film, its hard to get it looking perfect on a curved surface though, but it should stop any scuffs or stone chips. i think foliatech also do a similar product.
-
if they are the quantum ones they dont fit very well as they are just a universal type that also fits the passat and they have a tendancy to fall off and scratch the body where they clamp on, the proper vw ones are curved and moulded to fit the body and look quite good, cannon do a very similar design that fit very well but they are not listed to fit the corrado the ones they do list for it dont fit very well either.

pull the black plastic cover off that sits over the expansion tank reservoir mounting bolts and have a look for obvious signs of coolant being blown out of the pressure relief hole. -
i know you said you have tried the key in the boot but have to tried the key in different possitions? if i remember with the key slot in the vertical position it will unlock with the central locking but in the horizontal possition it wont unlock with the central locking and you need to use the key and turn it and push it in at the same time.

its great if you only use water or rain X additive in your washer bottle otherwise it wears off quickly, rain X combined with silicone wiper blades and the rain X additive and you never need to re-apply it, it is very wierd stuff though i found myself getting distracted by the big droplets of water that just fly off the glass when you go above 40. its great for the side glass and boot as well it lasts for ages and stops any dirt sticking to the glass. oh and it also works really well on glass shower screens
-
well im a veggie and i thought it was hillarious  they could quite easily do a bbc3 spin off series doing this all over the world and also have the normal top gear and it would rake in the viewers.
