  1. Just to clear this up, I work for a car rental company and most of the cars we have on rent from our fleet come back filthy with bad brake dust caked on the wheels. Plus we are so busy that our valeter has about 10 minutes to be able to clean cars exterior and interior then it is ready to be rented again. So the cleaning agents are on the surfaces for no more than a few minutes at most. We keep our vehicles for no more than 10,000 miles or 6 months, whichever comes first, and none of the sales cars ever have problems with damaged finish either on paint, plastics or alloy surfaces. 2. Hi all, Didn't want to have to resort to this but I have no choice. After posting a thread in the WANTED section for a G60 plastic boost pipe around the 14th of January I was contacted by forum member shawnsg60 on the 18th of January stating that he had one if I required it. I PM'ed him back immediately and sent payment by cheque on the 22nd of January. This cheque arrived with him on the 24th of Jan and would have cleared by the 28th. However, he texted me to say he had not put the cheque in till the 28th resulting in it not being cleared till the 3rd February, fair enough, give the guy the benefit of the doubt I thought. I contacted him a couple of days later by text, telephone, email and PM to ask if he had posted the item but he never responded to any of these mediums. I then contacted him on a daily basis, sometime up to 3 or 4 times a day up until today when I gave him an ultimatum, to contact me and let me know what was going on by 10 pm or I would report him as a bad salesman to the forum, which is what I am doing now. I have paid for this item, the cheque has cleared his account and mine, and I have still not received the item. I have been polite up until today when I gave him the ultimatum. I have been perfectly reasonable and am REALLY p155ed off about this as I really need this part to complete a project. It's a disgrace that this forum member has not made the effort to contact me any any form when I have given him plently of opprtunities to do so. I now have to source another boost pipe AND am left with being out of pocket by this complete and utter pr***. Shawnsg60, you are a disgrace to the VW community you seem to think you are part of, when you are nothing more than a common thief. You are lucky, as I am quite within my rights to get the police involved in this matter. And remember this, I have LOTS of contacts located all over the UK and I know your address. You had also better hope you don't run into me at any shows this year "mate" Just thought other forum members should know about this and take note of this total g**p's username so they can avoid. Regards, BigEastSideVWG60
  3. Yeah, I know that but have heard of people getting high quality retrims in leather for a lot less than £1100 tho  Cheers. BigEastSideVWG60
  4. Ah, nice one, it's Sunday, so brain not on top form 'fraid :D Cheers 'tho, BigEastSideVWG60
  5. Eh ? You've lost me mate, BigEastSideVWG60
  6. LOL at above comment. Funny tho', there seems to be a rather large market for them e.g. H &R, AAT, Dub-Club Racing are just some of the companies that make adapters which are used far more and without any problems than getting wheels redrilled or having hubs specially made etc. Cheers, BigEastSideVWG60
  7. Hi, I have been in touch with several (at least 4) car retrimmers this past week, and all have said that 3 hides are required for a full interior retrim (not including headlining or the outer surrounds of door cards). Also, I have found that pricers are pretty similar, with £900 plus VAT being the cheapest so far for a retrim (as described above). TBH, in my opinion, I think this is quite expensive, and I know finding a full set of leathers on Ebay, this forum or wherever else is pretty rare (not impossible tho!), but £1060 is quite a lot I think for a retrim, especially as I sold my last two factory leather interiors (one was Porsche half-leather) for around half of this cost, one of them included leather doorcards !! I am currently in the process of contacting around 15 specialist vehicle retrimmers around the UK and I will post details of the cheapest quote I get when I have all info back, Cheers, BigEastSideVWG60
  8. Would just like to point out that I currently work in the car valeting business and every one of the alloy wheel cleaners and traffic film removers that our company uses contains either Hydrochloric acid or Sodium hydroxide. As long as it is correctly diluted as described in manufacturers guidelines, they are no problems using these on any surfaces, apart from chrome (which may mark). Every commercially available wheel cleaner or traffic-film remover, including those available from Halfords etc. (for example, take a look at the contents of Wonder Wheels Alloy Wheel Cleaner made by Turtle Wax, contains Hydrochloric acid soultion!) will contain either of these two chemicals as they are very effective at cleaning as long as used correctly as per manufacturers instruction. 9. Hi there mate. Normal configuration of piping etc on catch tanks for G60 should be as follows AFAIK. One pipe connects the ISV to one of the outlets on the tank, another connects the breather on top of the cam cover to the second outlet of the tank. Finally this should leave one outlet free on the catch tank to which you should attach a small breather filter e.g Green Cotton, K+N, Pipercross etc. I have attached a pic of a G60 engine bay showing the catch tank in place with the two pipes connected. I believe that Pitstop Developments sell these catch tanks as do All Smiles Automotive Technology for between £85-£100. I have also attached pics of these catch tank examples. Cheers, BigEastSideVWG60
  10. Just to confirm, this exhaust system is definetely an early Milltek system at's identical to the one I had on my Corrado when I first bought it, Cheers, BigEastSideVWG60
  11. Hey all, Following up from the above post, yesterday I was asked to drive down to York from Aberdeen in a boring Vauxhall Zafira 1.8 :( and come back in an "Audi", that's all I was told.... However, it turned out ok after all, as the Audi in question turned out to in be a 2 month old Audi A8 4.2L V8 Quattro, costing just under £56,000 new  All I have to say is this is quite possibly the most comfortable, effortless, smooth, powerful, well-specced and all-round fantastic car car I have ever had the good-fortune to drive ! This car had everything - TV screen in dash, sat-nav, 8.5 x 18" alloys fitted with run-flat tyres, adaptive air suspension, 14-way adjustable heated leather seats, pneumatic-closing doors, electric boot-open / close mechanism, electric-everything else (including rear sun-screens, rear-view mirror, seatbelt mechanisms, headlamp-washers, intelligent xenon HID lights !), oh yes, and a small matter of 330 ish BHP and 320 ish ft / LBS torque ! Bearing in mind this beast weighs almost 2 tonnes, I think the performance figues below are amazing. I could just go on and on about this machine the whole day...., Performance data Top speed (mph) 155 (electronically-limited) Acceleration 0-62 mph (secs) 6.3 On the way back over the 330-odd miles I managed to achieve an average MPG of 25.8 which I thought was not bad actually, considering the kerbweight / displacement of that glorious-sounding V8 motor ! :D It only used one full-tank of fuel over the journey, however, the fuel-tank capacity was 90 litres and cost nigh-on 80 quid to fill her up  I would post some pics of it but I don't have any way of transferring files from my mobile to my PC. Just thought I would share with you all one of the greatest car-moments of my life ! Cheers, BigEastSideVWG60
  12. Just to let you guys know, I believe that Samco now do a 180 deg. U-bend in silicon which you could use to come off the RSR outlet (have seen pictures of this so I know it exists), Cheers, BigEastSideVWG60
  13. Where's the Design 90's then ? Can't see any. If you are talking about the alloys on the Rallye above they are actually polished Porsche 928 alloys. Hang on, oh my God, I'm turning into....,no it's not possible :D Cheers, BigEastSideVWG60
  14. Sorry, my mistake as never read all the pages..., BigEastSideVWG60
  15. Hi, I used to have 9 x 16" ET15 Borbet B's all round on my rado with 205 40 R16 tyres all round. I was running full Koni adjustable suspension with lowered springs and I had rolled arches. I woul get rubbing quite a lot so I would recommend you get arches rolled and possibly extended professionally and defo. get coilovers as well. Should be ok with this, Cheers, BigEastSideVWG60
  16. Yeah, Just that using 30 mm adapters will push offset to ET 22.5 which makes 8 x 16" wheels stick out past the arches, which is an MOT fail and a sure way of getting pulled by the boys in blue, unless you get arches modified to suit. Best way is it avoid and still look ok is to get 25 mm adapters I would have thought ? Cheers, BigEastSideVWG60
  17. Just to let peeps know, the price for the FK KonigSport coilover group-buy on edition38.com at the moment is £525 delivered, NOT £500 (this price has not been agreed / confirmed with the suppliers as yet), Regards, BigEastSideVWG60
  18. I was thinking about getting a set of FK KonigSports but not so sure now if I will have fitment problems. I would rather not use spacers as already using adapters means using another bit of metal between hub and adapters which is not ideal :-( Strange as well as have a mate using the same wheels on his VR6 Corrado with 205 40 R16 tyres all round and standard suspension and he has no problems ? Cheers, BigEastSideVWG60
  19. So would I be better ordering a 25 mm thick adapter then just to be on safe side ? Cheers, BigEastSideVWG60
  20. ET higher than 35 ?? Sorry, have checked the offset of my wheels and the offset is actually ET 52.5 (making the offset ET 32.5 with 20 mm adapters). So bearing this in mind surely they should fit without clearance issues ? Why doesn't these fit on your car, what coilovers / car are the wheels on ? ET 32.5 should be absolutely fine ? What is fouling, the wheels, the adapters or the tyres ? I am going to be using 205 40 R16 tyres all round and I currently have these tyres on my other set of 16" rims with no fouling problems. Cheers, BigEastSideVWG60
  21. Hi all, I have a set of Porsche wheels to go onto my C. They are all 8 x 16" in size with ET 58 offset and I am about to buy a set of adapters to convert 4 x 100 PCD to 5 x 130 PCD (Porsche fitment). However, the car will be getting coilovers soon and I need to know what width of adapters I require before I get them ordered as don't want to find that the the wheels / adapters foul the coilovers. I have been told that 20 mm (making offset ET35) will be ok but in another post I have read that using 20 mm ones will foul if using coilovers. I can get 20 mm, 25 mm or 30 mm adapters. Can anyone help ? Cheers, BigEastSideVWG60
  22. Hey all, Am still undecided on which gearbox to go for. Those with Mk3 GTi 16V gearboxes in their G60's (G60 JAY and Scruffydubbers - AFAIK he put it into his screw-charger equipped G60 before he sold it) why did you choose this box ? Phat / Henny, do I require any other parts from the VR6 gearbox (internals e.g. bearings, shift forks, idler etc. ) if I went for this option other than the VR6 input and intermediate shafts, VR6 1st / 2nd and reverse ratios ? Also, surely the gearboxes / ratios from a VW Golf MK3 GTi 16V and a late-spec VW Corrado 2.0L 16V are identical, as same engine etc so I could use one of these ? Finally, just to check, the gearboxes from a Golf VR6 and Corrado VR6 will be identical so I can use either of these ? Cheers, BigEastSideVWG60
  23. Hi there, Complete clutch kits can be had for 16V for about £80-100, Try GSF carparts or GPC VW / Audi or Eurocarparts, etc. or sure that Unipart etc. can supply, AFAIK Mike Edwards from this forum is also selling a complete Unipart clutch kit for 16v / g60 for £50, not sure if still available tho, http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic.php?t=20046 Cheers, BigEastSideVWG60
  24. Hey all, I am looking into this and will report back Mon hopefully, Althought, more and more tempted by FK Konigsport coilovers, but happy to inverstigate and subsequently arrange group buy of Koni TA's and H & R springs if need be, Cheers, BigEastSideVWG60
  25. Yeah the guys above have a good reputation, however, remember to add VAT onto their prices. BigEastSideVWG60
