  1. Ooft...I'd be up for a bit of that! Are you prepping it yourself? Quite fancy wrapping too, egdes wouldn't bother me, anything would be an improvement on my facing and peeling red!
  2. I'm not really a big Olympics fan, too much corporate crap for my liking but I must say, I loved the opening ceremony. Coming from a cynical Scot, that's praise...lol How they put that together is amazing, Bond was light hearted genuis, as was Bean. THe nurse bit was a bit OTT, but nonetheless, it was everything British.nd you had to be British to get a lot of it. Proud to be British last night :)
  3. 29 and had my Vr for just over 5 years. Had a Canary G60 when I was twenty-ish. Was a great car, but really love the VR.
  4. Well said that man! This looks great, I wish my paint looked like that. i've have lovely shony wings, but the rest is fading with peeling lacquer. No rust so don't mind that as a compromise. :)
  5. I've had this before and can't for the life of me think how I fixed it. Something in my head is telling me fuse, but can't say for certain. I know it wasn't anythnig difficult tho. I'll have a good think and see...
  6. Just wondering if you're not being a bit short sighted by being sooo budget orientated? (that's not mean to be cheeky btw!). Sure, wait and get a VR that is cheap, but unless you strike it really lucky, that VR will need money spent sooner or later - they are that type of car. The ones that are less likely to need money spent are £2k+. Clean, reliable AND cheap VR's are hard to come by. Having T&T doesn't really count for much. You'll prob get a lovely 16v for that money, but I think you'll struggle to get a lovely VR easily. Just saying :)
  7. Keep the 4Mo would be my suggestion. Balance up the pro's and con's and I can almost guarantee keeping it will come up trumps. So you're expecting to spend 1k on servicing? How much is your cost to change into something else? Much more than 1k. So financailly it doesn't really make much sense. The longer you keep the 4mo, the better value it becomes. The Mk5 will still depreciate, don't kid yourself that buying a newer car will avoid it! How do you know what sort of life your next car has had? As said, better the devil you know. Also, you're losing out on something that seems increasingly important - grip in snow. All you need is that ONE day you REALLY need to be somewhere and you're stuck with your FWD car, cursing the day you sold your 4wd one! lol I don't like Mk4's, but if I had to have one, it'd be a V6 4Motion. My friend had one and it was a really nice car. Finally, I bought a newer car to take over the Corrado's duties - faster, bigger and so on. I'm about to sell it, just didn't have the soul and is no cheaper to run, quite the opposite. Just my random and uncollated thoughts on a dreich Monday morning!
  8. I got hoses from Swampy and had no problems. I'm sure he mentioned he was starting a new job not long ago and this might cause some delays getting orders done.
  9. Couple of other things to check Jim. front engine mount, in particular the top bolt, You can get a socket down with an extention bar or two, just. The lower bolt it easy from below. Lower one will be an allen, upper either a 16mm or 17mm. Also worth checking the bumper bolts on either side, 177mm bolts on each side - I've had mi e loosen slightly before. There is a 13mm too holding the x member, worth checking. Also check the wishbone bolts are tight, especially the rear ones. Things should not come loose, but they can in my experience :(
  10. There are many reasons I don't have a TV, but crappy adverts are high up on the reasons list.
  11. It's things like this that keep telling me to get RoadHawk. I've had too many run in's where they have talked utter nonsense and gussed most of the facts. The most recent which made me livid was getting pulled in my old T25 for being on the phone when driving. He told me explicitly he saw it at my left ear. 1) I don't hold the phone to my left ear ever. 2) I wasn't on the phone. 3) I had a handfree headset in my ear! Nontheless, he was adamant. At that point I told him to write out the ticket and I'll see him in court and that as an former employee of a mobile phone company, I knew exactly what information they held and that I could access to prove I wasn't on the phone - his shout. He then tried to tell me that if he needed evidence, he'd get it but in this case, he'd use his discretion. If that was not enough to persuade me. Argh...glad it worked out okay for you.
  12. Sifting through this, if I understand correctly, it'll likely need to go to someone like Stealth to get it running? If I sold my S4, I'd be very tempted, but would be very apprehensive it'd not run, and i'm hundreds of miles from anyone who knows anything about them...
  13. Got mine, fitted front this morning, feels fine after a solid mount. Need to tackle the rear next, looks like it could be a pain. Should I take the whole alloy bracket off rather than try raise the engine enough to get the mount out? WIll research on here later i suppose :)
  14. I'll accept at that, thank you :) Gourock is Central Scotland, 35mins from Glasgow, lovely wee coastal town with nice shops and cafes and stunning views of the mountains...pop down one day if your're passing :) lol. Should just be normal postage rates, I'll await your pm. Thanks, Jamie
  15. Happy to offer more to secure?
  16. Hiya, I'll pay the asking and the postage on top, if you're prepared to post. I've been looking for an OEM style for ages - please accept my offer! If acceptable, PM me and I'll get payment made.
  17. Thanks guys. The WinterContacts have not showed any abnormal wear since March, I've kept a close eye to see. Hmmm, what to do! I prefer to be prepared for all weathers, so think I'll go winter again and see how it goes. With the mileage I do, I'll be looking for new fronts at the end of the year again anyway, and with the rears barely wearing, I'll have 4 fairly new winters all round. Def don't have room for a spare set of wheels, which would have been my preference. oh well. who knows, with the weather we have these days, we might have our first snowfall in a few weeks :)
  18. Got to agree! Having had the S4, the Corrado is so cheap to maintain, even using Genuine parts where possible. Saying that, I've not quite sold it yet. Fancy one on LPG?
  19. So! I've been running about since start of the year with WinterContacts on the front since they were lying about with loads of tread. They have been perfect to drive on, and I've never noticed any situations where I knew I was on Winter tyres. Having used Winter tyres in the snow a few times, I will want a set to keep safe and mobile when the snow and ice appears. So, do I buy new Summer tyres now, knowing in October time I'll be sourcing (probably part worn) winters, or do I just put winters on now and be done with it? As the car is never driven on the limit, or tracked, I'm not too fussed about perceived lack of performance. Interested to hear thoughts or experiences.
  20. Looking for a heater blower motor, mine is too groany and creaky now. Don't mind if it only works on speed 4 - I should be able to reuse my control thing. Not looking to spend mega buck either, mine works fine, just noisy, Thanks, J
  21. Deal :) I shall pm you! Thank you (*checks bed for horses head)
  22. I'd go £50+postage for the lot (if you'd post). Not being cheeky, just don't think it's worth the asking for what is really just an old stereo with no modern features :( I just like the look :)
  23. It really could have been anything. There is a video on youtube of a Victor bomber doing a fast taxi (at Bruntingthorpe I think). Something happened to the pilot and he froze allowing the plane, which is not allowed to fly, to take off. Thankfully the co-pilot realised before it was too late what was going on and just as it took off, managed to bring it back down safely. In work just now, so can't get on youtube to find the link,it's some video. (maybe someone no here pointed it out once?) So could literally have been anything - epilepsy, muscle seizure, panic, mechical failure, blow out whatever. Let's hope they do managed to pin it down and come up with a practical solution, rather than anything silly like an all out ban or whatever.
