So what 0-60 times have we go here then? Those figures came from the corrado forum knowledge base, so someone needs to change them if they're wrong I'm aware of the torque difference but it doesn't look that great from here. Stop slagging something off coz it's new/different and have a proper discussion about pros and cons for once! The weight difference is obviously taken into account in the 0-60 times  And like VR6 said, £15k compared to £23-odd(probably equivalent of more in todays money) - that's not much of a difference in performance for £10k is it. My point was how things are moving on (e.g. a modern 2.0 16v having similar performance to a 10 year old supercharged motor), not that the FSI is any better than the G60, chill.

Golf 2.0 fsi non-turbo Kerb Weight: 1392kg Engine Capacity: 1984 cc Power: 150@6000 bhp/rpm Torque: 148@3500 lb/ft Maximum Speed: 132 mph 0 - 62 mph: 8.9 seconds Fuel Consumption: 36.2 mpg Corrado G60 Kerb Weight: 1115 kg Engine Capacity: 17811 cc Power: 160@6300 bhp/rpm Torque: 165@4000 lb/ft Maximum Speed: 137 mph 0 - 62 mph: 8.9 seconds Fuel Consumption: 32 mpg Amazing how things move on aint it? A fat n/a 2.0 with almost equivalent figures to a lean mean G-lader machine? Anyone in a G60 been surprised by one of these of the lights?

My Art teacher used to have a an early C class ('96ish) and that was the same, it's something that's crossed my mind before but i don't reckon it would sit in the scuttle right
-
late and early differences explain the fitment issues maybe?

Lol I think alot of us on here could relate to that!

I've never had a problem with speed cameras really - from out in the country so there weren't that many about, and in Cardiff you rarely get the chance to reach the speed limit, let alone exceed it!. I did read a very interesting article once about the 85th percentile which essentially proves that speed cameras are specifically placed in areas where it may force the driving speed to become unsafe. Bear with me but I think it goes like this. the 85th percentile is apparently statistically the safest driving speed - it worked out that it was the speed at which 85% of the tested population felt safe driving in any given condition. Anywhere above or below this is less safe. Speed cameras are placed in locations where the 85th percentile exceeds the exisiting speed limit (there are other factors like 5 serious accidents or whatever), meaning that drivers are forced to drive at a speed which is less safe. Lower, but statistically less safe. Anyway, I honestly believe that it's all down to driving standards. There is an older population than ever before (easier test), cars are cheaper to buy (or credit easier to obtain!). Standards are shoddy throughout the country, lane discipline non existant and insurance bandings insane (why not base it on standard of driving rather than everybody else's ability to avoid your idiotic manouvres?) More cars, less time and patience = stupid mistakes, agressive driving, and hesitant people get worse for fear of making more mistakes!! lol How about all this camera funding pays for compulsory tests every two years. The score of which dictates your insurance banding!?!?

hmm, good thinking man, I'll have a check 8)

i had a 49bhp 1200 mk1 astra that did 0-60 in about 12secs if thats any comparison mate. You gettin to 60 inside 10 seconds?
-
Dunno, only had a brief look. I will investigate further tomorrow, seems pretty clear for engine oil (andd no, it's not water ) Thanks guys
-
replaced mine with a nice bit of leather, tidy

Hi all, Haven't had a chance to have a proper look but there's a puddle under my gearbox, where should I be looking for the source? Any common failures? Cheers, Cole
-
LOL! I struggled more gettin the fecker back in!
-
I reckon whoever buys that VR'll sell them to you, no worries!

Sweet! Cheers guys

You can download it from here http://www.qpeng.com/press_articles.html If you have any questions just ask as it was my car. Have now done a 20VT in my corrado. Am doing one for forum member ving60 next week. Will take a load of photos during the conversion. He's from Newport so might take you for a blast if you ask him. Thanks for that man, whereabouts are you anyway?

I was hoping as much, so i could just hook the standard C ABS sensors up to MKIV ABS if I wanted (or fit the MKIV ones into the C hub)
-
thanks Phat, I was hoping someone like you would answer. You will also know by what method the (MKIV) ESP/ABS speed sensors are attached to the hubs. Easy enough to fab onto G60/VR carriers? I think you can guess where I'm going here...
-
The only reason I ask is because it's alot of farting about getting hold f the bits and then trying them, finding they don't fit and trying to get rid of them! Has anyone tried getting MKIV hubs married up to ANY C gearbox?
-
Lets say I wanted to fit MKIV brakes. Could I use a G60 gearbox and driveshafts with MKIV (5 stud) hubs on the front? Any issues on the back? Cheers, Cole
-
i thought it was alright for £6 but glad it wasn't any more, it's only 72 mins. Agree with you though, it could have done with more good stuff and less killing the crap cars, although the perodua bit was funny!

Crashed: Car at home now...to assess fixability
saysomestuff replied to Taggart's topic in General Car Chat
gutted for you mate, You never know though, might not be a WO and you can have some shiny new panels to go with the 24v! -
I'm sure someone a bit more knowledgable will tell you more but seeing as you have a 4-pot already it'll go on the stock mounts (obviously uprated would be preferred) and use G60 gearbox, uprated clutch and G60 driveshafts (may as well go for the hubs too for better brakes).. QPE do standalone management that a lot of people rate but depending on which engine you get hold of, OE management might be fine although you'll need the clocks/loom/key to sort immobiliser issues. I've yet to find a "definitive 1.8T" info source but the clubgti forums are a good starting point.

nice one Dave, I'll drop into WHSmith today, thanks. Anyone know any reputable garages in Cardiff area that could set a 20vt (BAM) engine up properly once in?
-
Any ideas what issue it was? Cheers
