  1. Hey all, Just looking for an enlightened discussion on what to do with the following really (including the dreaded 16v vs 20valve!! ). I have the following bits... Engine bits: A 2.0 non-turbo FSI engine (under 10k miles - will need uprated rods to take boost)[/*:m:e4214] An AGU 20v head (would be rebuilt to 0 miles)[/*:m:e4214] A 2e motor (unknown mileage)[/*:m:e4214] A 9A head (130k)[/*:m:e4214] A 9A engine with TSR KR head and cams (running in car, bottom end 130k, head newly rebuilt NOT ported/polished)[/*:m:e4214] Other: I also have a right handed 20v inlet manifold and cable throttle[/*:m:e4214] and a scirocco 16v inlet with the opening on the right[/*:m:e4214] a KKK K26 turbo (porsche 944)[/*:m:e4214] A supercharger capable of around 30psi[/*:m:e4214] The basic question is........ What shall I do with it all? - Obviously I'd like to use as much stuff as I can from my existing haul - Power-wise I'm after 300bhp or over - only other thing is I'd like to keep it light, torquey and responsive - and will probably run megasquirt management Here's the options I've come up with so far (let's assume anything not used in any option will be sol off to pay for remaining bits): 1. a s/c hybrid 2.0 FSI 20v a la Storm Developments - I'd need to put new rods/pistons in as the non-turbo doesn't have the same rods as the GTI 2. A 16vt (or supercharged) using the long runner intake etc. and a hybrid 2E/9A sertup for 8.5:1 CR 3. A 16vt (or supercharged) using stacked gaskets on the 9A/KR setup what do you lot think I should build?...
  2. I would do a leakdown test on number 6 then to make sure it's not the oil stem seals first mate - because Kev's absolutely right, that sounds like the problem. I had problems with oily plugs on a passat and if you booted it after letting it rev on the overun, smoke would pour ouit the back. It's worth doing before you fart about with rings.
  3. 100 seems a bit high, mine was always around 90 - are you having any other problems? water in the oil or anything? If not then I'd say your fan might be dodgy
  4. If you do, you want Cymru-Corrado there, he's got it down to abt 3 hours without taking the dash out
  5. I can't say that the grumble has gone away as I've not driven it for a year, but the ABS light was a sensor and some seriously dodgy wiring - the previous owner had piggy backed both signals onto one sensor, so when I replaced the obviously duff one it didn't make any difference (becasue it wasn't plugged into anything  ) I sorted the loom and replaced the other one too (which was obviously only intermittantly failing) and all was well lightwise.
  6. Holy thread resurrection Batman! Sorry couldn't help it.. Mine was the ABS making a funny noise
  7. Whose is the mk3 Fiesta on the left? joke - looks really good mate
  8. I've never looked under the hood as it were. Want to see it for sure. Mad spec! I was thinking GT35R ;-) Good article in Redline this month about it - 10.99 stadning quarter with full leather interior
  9. Doesn't sound as nice as the one I have in Forza 1  - 512bhp turbo R32, everything on professional lol
  10. Mate, they hardly check it - it doesn't go into the computer or anything. I know someone who's taxed a car by scanning in both sides of an old insurance cert, changing the date and printing it out on both sides again.
  11. make sure whatever you're using to operate the new ignition switch is pressing the button in on the inside
  12. lol, it's all in hand guys, give me a chance! EDIT - PS. duke_st, you have mail
  13. Jon_vr6, can you PM me the details and I'll find out the status.
  14. It's abit of a fluffy process at the moment guys but it has to be that case for now as it's a members only forum. I'm looking to streamline it as the new webmaster but it won't change the fact that not being a member means no access. Cheers
  15. legally they have to respond within 20 working days. EDIT - http://www.opsi.gov.uk/Acts/acts2000/00036--b.htm#10
  16. needs more downforce methinks :drinking:
  17. Just order 535 919 845 from the stealer, I got one free with a wiring loom I bought, going to fit it to the valver. nice one on the part number Yan, cheers
  18. The ignition switch could be to blame. I had it go on my passat and it would turn & spark but not fire. I'd try a new one of those first if I were you, they can be responsible for so many random issues.
  19. Nice one Jim, now pass some of that karma this way - I'm in at the end of the month
  20. 100% not true - don't mean to be a twa t but i got done for being 5 days late - it's important that people don't gamble absolutely no leeway
  21. Did you drive it on the road during that time? The correct answer BTW is "No officer" Doesn't make any difference - you HAVE to be SORN or taxed at all times, your fine is probably on its way mate.
  22. What a moron, they're hardly a replacement for eyes and common sense are they?
  23. I taxed my car online the day the MOT ran out, so you've got no worries there - but like mentioned before, worth getting it in for an MOT beforehand so you at least know what needs doing when you get it home - and obviously you could get a discount off the seller.
