no worries , a battery /starter prob is a pia because you just dont know if you going to get stranded :-(

i would take the starter off and have a look , you can wizz it over by connecting straight to the battery but be careful it'll dance around like a mother :-) , if its noisey change it also check the teeth on the bendix (small gear at the end) hth

is the grating as its trying to start or just after it fires up ?

have you tried tapping the starter with a hammer ;-) sometimes the brushes carbon up and stick or put it in third gear and push it a little backwards and forwards does it sometimes just click when you try to start it ? difficult to tell from the description if its electrical, starter motor (worn contaminated bendix) or starter ring tbh

suppose i'll be able to tell by how even the pads are worn

story goes - i had a warped disc about 6 months ago (std vag discs and pagid fr pads) so i changed this for some grooved omp discs and all was well , now its warped again !! it always feels like the passenger side that is warping i've now bought some mintex discs and pads but i'm wondering could there be a fault with the caliper ? anyone had this or any pointers for when i strip it down again , how to check or clean/lube the caliper ? the car doesnt pull under braking cheers Paul

got to agree , i've had my magnex on for probably 4 years and had no problems , they sound subtle but not too subtle :wink:

pull the switch out of the dash and see if there are wires connected to it, if it has wires then you have the loom as its all one piece

mattnorgrove, no mate , the headlining has to come out or at least be dropped to get to the drain points, you can see the front ones if you slide the sunroof this pdf might help ;-)

not that it matters :-) but the general consesus of the TT forum users who have had the map say the power delivery is smoother and better mpg but that will depend on the map used , max power or just to iron out flat spots etc map the new TT uses the mk5 goof floorpan and the reviews suggest it drives much better

tonedef, i think it returns better mpg with a remap because it is more efficient at the fuel burning thingy rather than you drive it slower or more economically lol

trig, am i right in thinking that the S3 is an 225 audi TT with an a3 bodyshell using a golf mk4 floorpan ? they reckon an amd remap produces more horses and better fuel economy in the TT
