    HT LEAD TOOL

andy, I dont have even the plastic one so nothing to use as a template. You couldn't trace around your new "Hazet" and send me a scanned copy could you? Or for that matter anyone with the "real" hazet, could you please do the same? Much appreciated.
  2. OK, does that mean i will also need to disconnect the aircon for the conversion? If so, I'll save the regas for later.

    Whats this item?

OK, advice noted. How can you clean it up tho', with some brasso or something?
  4. Anyone else got a similar pic of this part of the engine bay? That's full VWSH for you I guess.
  5. Its a bit difficult to see but I've threaded this loose connector through the red tranny fluid dipstick. Anyone with an auto box would have an idea as to where this should go. It runs around the front of the engine block in a cluster of pipes and cables, on the lower side of the block (if that makes sense!) Sorry the pic is a bit crap - I dont know how to ring the item so I hope you can make it out. The plastic looks a bit grey. It needs to connect to a spade connector somewhere, maybe a ground, but judging by the salt accumulation on it i guess its been open for a while now. Appreciate any help chaps. Thanks

Dennis, what did you cut the pipe with to make it so neat? My dealer doesn't recognise the Hazet tool code....yeah right. So im gonna make one myself, if i can, as per your diag! Cheers

    Whats this item?

No Kev, its actually situated at the back of the engine bay, if the bloody pics would attach it would be obvious. Its got 6 5mm pipes with olives on them fitted slightly towards the passenger side of the firewall, roughly under the left hand wiper. Sorry 'bout the description - picture paints a thousand words and I'll probably need more than that to describe the damn thing. Its about 20-25cm in length. Cheers all.

    Chrome Interior Bits

Cheers for that David, might see if I can get a pair of new ones! would these also fit a later C? And Bally, which ones did you get?

    Whats this item?

I guess its somethng to do with the cylinders as there are 6 pipes, but I want ot remove this and polish it up a bit. But what is it exactly and what does it do?
  13. Sorry chaps, I've added the pic but I cant seem to see it anywhere. What have I done wrong?
  14. Pic added - I dont know how to highlight the area but you can see the connector leads being pressed to the left of the battery. The connector is pretty much in line with the bottom left corner of the battery and you can see the PAS hose just above it, near to the small hole on the battery base edge. Sorry its not a good explanation, i just dont know how to select the area or draw a ring around it.

    Chrome Interior Bits

Too right mate - they dont. I've got a 94 VR and these had a slightly different hinge area. I dont know if they would fit the earlier style handles though. They were very well made and finished - p***es me off even more.

    Auxiliary Cooling pump

Useful info as always, Dennis. BTW, what is the alloy block to the LHS of item 3 ("bling" cylinder head cover) on pic 5 and what does it do? Can this be simply uncrewed and cleaned up with a wire brush - mines a bit yellow?
  17. With the key in the "on" position i can hear a motor whirring noise in the cabin which I beleive is the fuel pump. However, on lifting the bonnet the auxilary cooling pump is running. Is this normal and is this the whirring I can hear in the cabin? If not, maybe the fuel pump is dead? How best to check this? Thanks all

    Strong double sided tape

GIXXERUK, where do you get that from?

    VR not starting

To be safe its probably best to replace it as you said Kev - it's cut out again about 5 times in a 15 mins drive so I'm guessing the ignition switch, plus maybe a clogged fuel filter (at 50 000miles? surprising, but probably worth replacing), but apart from that I'm stumped. I replaced the pressure regulating valve with a pipe and I guess the engine may be just getting used to it. I recently cleaned and lubed the ISV and TB, but it cut out at the junction twice, which are usually typical symptoms of these being a bot grubby, so unless i need to clean them again I am at a bit of a loss as to what to check now. Ideas on a postcard. Thanks all

    VAG error codes

Storm, who do you think I am - this is me we're talking about. Seriously though, I'll have a look on the vortex although I have found that threads are started and then left in mid-flow. Our forum is really superb by comparison. Anyway, the VAGCOM part of it may be different.

    VR not starting

Have ignition! Dunno how though and I have absolutely no idea how to find out why or where to start. The only thing I'm worried about is going somewhere to find it dies on me in the middle of nowhere. I'll get a replacement switch anyways - how much are they?

    VAG error codes

OK thanks Kev. Why would it even mention 533 if the limit had not been reached? Just leave it out i would have thought. I think the 00638 is something to do with the auto tranny and I've got some pics i'll post up of an errant lead near to the g/box which I havent got a clue where to connect. There doesnt seem to be any small spade connector. Wait till i post the pic and maybe you chaps will have some ideas.
  23. will do, once I get the camera working properly.

    VR not starting

Cleaned the earth strap behind the battery so its nice and shiny, cleaned contact cleaner in as many connectors as I could see but still no luck. Havent driven it for a good few months now (bar one trip to the garage) because of this bloody problem - i was hoping i could nail the problem this weekend. Advice chaps URGENTLY. Thanks
