Baz2004, ? U got Bentley? If so, have a look under the section covering the central locking pump as I've mentioned above. Get a multimeter and I'm sure you'll be able to diagnose the problem. Bentley is quite comprehensive in the interpretation of the readings. Good luck.

Cleaned ISV and TB again. Checked electrics to try and start it. No luck. Swore. Swore again. Took out seats and removed carpet. Washed carpet and left to dry. Would you belive the crud that came off it (its beige so shows every damn mark). Now looks nice and clean but its going to an auto technician to sort out so I'll put the carpet it when it comes back. Painted engine cover in nice aluminium HT paint. Just need to start the b###ard now.

Some bad lookin motor dude! I'm jealous.

Thorpey's right, check the hoses attached to the pump first and try it again. Alos try resetting the c/l - some thing like opening the doors and boot and opening and closing the fob (do a search, someone has a thread on this). Pumps are available from the scrappy for between £15 & £30 as well as on ebay and other forum members. Its an easy changeover too. I believe an old Audi 100 pump will also fit (IIRC)- plug and play and its more powerful too and quieter. Finally if you have Bentley there is a mthod of isolating where the problem is using a multimeter by checking power to the pump and current flow through the switches - you will need someone to turn and hold the key in the lock for this though. its not a major problem, just fiddly. HTH and best of luck.

Just a bit of feedback - the best way i found was to carefully use a scalpel and slice the paint off. All this then needed was a polish with normal car polish and this removes any scratches.

khurrado, good idea. Need to get my motor running first and a few more bits and bobs. Any idea on prices for the compressor etc? BTW whereabouts are you in SW London?
-
OK mate, BTW, where do find the inhibitor switch as you mentioned above and what does it look like? That'll be my last effort before getting it towed the the garage.
-
so shall i give up on this and confine the car to just being polished and looked at then? Come on VR6 barons (Haywire, Dennis etc) help a mate out.
-
No one able to help???????????????
-
Tried searching for "coilpack" but it comes up blank - strange as Dennis has a coilpack in his motor so obviously its something that they have in the US/Canada. Has anyone got any ideas about what else to use? Let me know via PM. Cheers

Looking for details on my Bentley and it only covers up to the AAA engine - I beleive the 94 VR is ABV? Is that the same for everyone else too? This came from a search on the ignition system and the search box does not recognise the term "coilpack". Can anyone shed any light on this? TIA
-
oops i meant inhibitor (as per the Haywire) not immobiliser. There's obviously no spark (which I'll check when I can get someone to crank the engine over). How do I check power to the coilpack (from that multi connector on the top)?
-
2cc, many thanks, pic clears that up totally. I'll have another stab this weekend - at least I know what to expect.
-
Well chaps, any advice on the immobiliser? Is there any way i can by-pass it to isolate that as a fault?
-
Quite superb. I must admit I look at your motor to give me an idea what mine can look like when I've done the wheels, suspension and other subtle mods. I've got the same combo LC5U and cream leather although I've got cream door cards and beige carpet. The black looks very smart indeed, though. well done for the effort, and as you can see its well appreciated by many.

MysticBlueStorm, did that mate. The problem was more the screw was done up so damn tight that there was insufficient torque on the screwdriver to open it. Sprayed some release oil and chisled part of the retaining bracket and finally got there. Henny is right about perseverance on this little job. I had the clocks out too (coincidentally) which did make it somewaht easier.

I'll give it a go this weekend then. Manybe I was emking osome error andy, as I've tried this method. I just thought the front of the bench would break or the leather would tear hence gave it a rest. There are two pins at the back of the seat which fit into the slots in the frame, but i thought that the seat would then pivot on the front edge if i lifted it from there (if that makes sense :? )
-
Forgot to mention (if not earlier), it turns over fine, just doesnt want to fire up - i hate immobilisers
-
Storm, thats a shame - only if you remove the creature comforts that you stand a chance of opening the bonnet and smiling. Anyone else with aircon with a better setup than mine?
-
Kev, where is this and how do I check it?
-
I'm struggling with this one too - I've got the centre armrest and want to remove the carpet but it's secured under the rear bench, which i can't work out how to lift. Ideas welcomed all.
-
I've just fitted tt repeaters to mine as a replacement and the do look a lot better IMHO. Need a bit of filing to reomve the internal clip plus some sticky pads and finally some mastic (which I've yet to do) around the edge but they're a good sight smarter.
-
Dave, looks good - would you supply these at all? If so, prices? And BTW, silver boots?????????
