Finally changed the ignition switch - a nioce black VW one as opposed to the white one there (seems someone has replaced it before - is that not a GSF one or was the original Corrado one white?). Still no luck - seems there's no spark as there is fuel in the feed and return lines. How bet should I go about checking for ignition, and is there any way i can do this alone? I'm thinking it will be difficult to reach the ignition whislt holding a lead close to the block to check for a spark. The concern i have is also because the car would, on a straight run, just try an die continuously which suggests a loose connection somewhere, but i'm totally stumped about trying to find out where it is. Can anyone give me a list of things to check for the non-sparking issue? Thanks gents.

This must rank as THE HARDEST job I've tried to do on the car. Just spent about 3 hours trying to remove the screw but it is just too tight. The switch is white which I guess is a GSF replacement and there is absolutely no way to get any pressure on the head to undo it. Any other suggestions chaps? This has really cheesed me off as i could have been playing with my kids instead of messing around with this little s--t of a job.

If you mean the thin piece inside the front cover panel, the easiest is to trace it out on a red/blue/any colour sheet and replace it. If you mean the green spider behind the controls when you take them out, the only option is a set of coloured leds. Someones done a good writeup on this (cant remember who) so "use the search"

How much is that in metric, mate - we use litres here!

Yeah, not purple, thatwas my mistake, went back to the wrong item. gradeAfailure, can you use them behind the dash do you think or would they be too thick? And can you post some pics up of what they look like lights on. Cheers.

I've got Andis white dials on my clocks and i'm in the process of redoing the blue leds behind them again. I've just seen these Cold Cathode kits which look pretty simple and seem to give out lots of light - anyone had any expereince with them and what would be the suggestions? I've had a little "chat" on another thread about something similar but that was off-topic hence this new thread. What I'm looking to do is to bung these behind the clocks instead of having a line of leds on a some circuit board. Oh BTW, there's a link here worth looking at: http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products ... _uid=72287 Mods - sorry, how do you shorten links?

I spoke to the lads there some months back but now their number is unavailable. Seemed very polite and helpful, and prices were pretty damn good too. Anyone know whats happened to them? They were based in Hayes, so it would be a shame if they've gone out of business.

and a turbo boost button on the dash. Mind you I used to love Knight Rider as a kid...

chargedupstorm, thanks for that. If you've got a list of bits needed that would also help. When I've got them together I'll prob get in touch with you if you dont mind? - you're not a million miles away from me anyways.

How long did it take - the removal, bay cleaning and reinstall, i mean?
-
Well, my son used to call it the Coddado last year cos he couldnt say "R" then. My wife calls it my girlfriend - pretty normal guess, and BTW you lot are my "mates on the forum"
-
Storm, let us know how you get on - i'd be interested in this mod too, if its feasible. BTW, chargedupstorm, what is involved in the conversion from standard aircon - I know its no plug-and-play from Andi, 's setup

Hmm, now that you mention it thats probably right  although the curved profile does look better than the overall angular finished dash.
-
dinkus, you reckon its best to remove the old sills totally? I've just got the 1mm stuff, which might be a bit thin, although the 6mm look waaaaay too thick - any comments on those?
-
Shilakadaddy, looks interesting, what you got planned? That centre pod looks a bit TVRish

I'd love to kick this off but my dash is in bits at the moment so all you'll see is an ampty space by the clocks and the standard VR heater controls. Even the stereo is out  Doors are the standard beige leather with black handles and trims. Post up your pics and show em off! I can see myself going green already, especially with the likes of G60renshaw and A20Lee et al. But hey, its 8) regards H

I'll check Halfrauds this lunchtime then. Thanks for the tips gentlemen.

Can anyone send me a trace of the Hazet tool they use so I can make the same form a copper tube? Thanks chaps.

I know its just a reiteration of everyone else but deepest sympathis and heartfelt condolences to all concerned. Tragic incidents like these are somtimes the wakeup call we need to remain masured and sesnsible in our judgements and actions. After all, you are only driving a machine. I lost a close friend in a similar type of accident last year too so i truly sympathise with you.

RW1, Yes its the yellow with balck stripe one, sorry its not so clear from the pic. OK thats fine, i'll just move it out of harms way. Judging by the state of it I dont think its been used at all.

Both my bumpers have scuffs on the corners, n fact the rear has some cracked paintwork on it too - previous guy was a bit neglectful. VW charge about £12 for a can of 300ml paint, which the guy said would do about 2 mirrors. Any advice on respraying, where to get LC5U paint, how much would be needed for the front and rear bumpers, priming etc.. Can you get a good finish with cans or should I hire a spray gun?

Didnt see any there bud and I think I've been through the lot. Maybe I've missed it on some page...?
-
Look forward to seeing it finished dude.

Thanks for the tip Henny, will give it a go on the weekend after changing the ignition switch.

Aaa, as "simple" as that. Anyone else with aircon with a nicely arranged engine bay that wouldnt mind posting some pics? Something A20 Lee style would be ideal, but i dont know if Lee has aircon.
