the bolts are only about a quid each from GSF as far as i remember
-
like your mechanic said, it could be a whole host of things. only thing to do is take the engine apart and change the bearings and pump and hope that is the problem
-
has anyone got any opinions about chip wizards re their mapping? regards Rob

can i assume you removed something from this thread or you were joking about being sued by bently?

im sure that would work even though the passat is 2.8, it should still start it. my oil pump was duff so my car wouldnt start, dont know if this would apply to the vr

a company called APD in norfolk, was about 70quid

you could have a rubbish probe, i did have the same symptoms and a new probe seemed to sort the problem out. might be worth disconnecting the battery aswell for a little while to see if that will clear the ecu of any faults it might have picked up. the wiring for the probe is normally the problem, be it a crap earth or a crap joint in a universal cable. the bosch probe i bought had the corract 4 pin plug already on it, plug it in a job done.

its not a problem. bought them straight from schrothshop.de. ordered them thursday afternoon and the turned up tuesday morning. that was some seriosly good delivery, wish everyone was that good!

i wish i had known this last week! i ordered the harnesses i wanted last thursday!

i have had problems with the universal probes before, so i got a bosch replacement and this done the trick

i would say you are about correct with those prices. maybe add a touch more onto the parts price. it all depends on how far you want to go. does the exhange bottom end come fully assembled? in my opinion i would: take the bottom end out, replace the main bearings, piston rings, big end bearings, oil pump and all the seals. to do this i would bank on spending about 400 quids worth of bits (inc new head gasket and odds and sods) i could do the work myself, and i think it would take me 35 hours to do the work. garage would probably be quicker. you could replace fewer parts, at a smaller cost and not remove the engine. im jsut one of those people that hate doing things twice, so would rather spend a bit more and just do it once!

what lambda probe did you use? a GSF one?

if it has scored the crank then it can be reground and used with oversize bearings. wouldnt cost alot to regrind the crank and the bearings will be the saqme price as normal bearings. if the main bearings have gone then it is a bit more of a job to do, i.e gearbox off, cambelt off, crank out. same sort of situation as with the big ends, if the bearings are shot then replace them (about 40 quid for good bearings, VW are more though) and job done. crank scored, get another crank (KR is the same) or reground. i would replace the oil pump 2 (130 VAG) and all the seals. prob gonna cost 200 quid in parts if u do that. labour depends on if u do it. hope that helps

Pic request - G60 outlet piping running down under charger
Rob_B replied to Riley's topic in Engine Bay
rallye u-bend is the easiest as it fits. only problem is if you have an oil cooler sandwich plate and its very very tight. then i had the genuine reducer hose for the intercooler which cost me £5!!!! bargain! its fiddly to do it all though as space is limited round that area -
yeah, nearly twice as much to cross than a car but still twice as slow and half the size of a 4x4. dunno how they work that out!!
-
thanks for the reply the car is slammed on coilovers at the mo, no rubbing of the wheels at the mo, just chin spoiler scraping! so i shouldnt have any clearance issues with the suspension, its just how much clearance i would get on the wing. ive dropped the arch lining so there are no worries there either. want to avoid spacers really i think i would need to come down to an et 30 or 25

i would love to 100mph in my escort van! motorway speeds are a challenge!!!
-
fairly easy question i should hope guys and gals... what offset would i need to run if i want to fit 17 x 8 rims to my G60? its runnig the 4 x 100 set up still and im thinking of getting some keskins in this width. was just wondering if et35 will still be ok due to the increased width? many thsnks, Rob

save some money up or get the cards out!

worn bearings, dodgy sensor get an oil pressure test done asap
-
try setting it up at 2000rpm. you start getting into the point when the ignition will advance 30degrees to account for boost at about 2500rpm, esp if you have an aftermarket chip in

yeah i had a look and got a price, so i think i will buy them off there. did they deliver and everything ok?
