the exact same thing happened to me last year! not sure you can get to 2.1 with PG block 1.9, no problem 2.0, about the limit on the bore really ask Blue Joe what he did. i went to 1.9 which is reletively straight forward Rob
-
physically it would fit, but it wouldn't flow anywhere near enough air as a G60 head
-
get an oil pressure test done on it before you do anything else. that will tell you if there is a problem with the oil pressure or not. or get yourself an oil pressure guage Rob
-
mine only makes 8psi on the guage 2
-
just be careful, if the oil presssure light is coming on more frequently its not a good thing hopefully it will be just a sensor issue, but be aware it could be more serious!
-
sounds good to me

well on the back of the fuseboard there is a link wire between the speedo sensor and the spoiler control unit. when i was messing around with my wiring my mate put this back in the wrong place, and consequently the spoiler wouldnt come up automatically. very easy to do. i think it is a green link wire but i would have to check to confirm
-
have you taken any of the plugs out of the back of the fuseboard?
-
pump was fitted by vw mechanic im sorry to find them scored, its a nice early birthday present!
-
well after the massive response, i can reveal the crank bearings are fooked and the crank is scored this is great, especially as the engine has less than 2000 miles on it. i also have oil on the spark plugs and some oil and water mixing somewhere. not sure what ive done to deserve all this. must have pissed someone off
-
i think they have a spring inside them which stops them opening before 30psi i still need to sort this guys, anyone?!?!?!
-
have i discovered a new corrado problem?! or are you guys just holding out on me?
-
used shells from GSF Darren they are standard size as Mr Werks said the crank hadnt had any material taken off it the general figure being banded about is 2bar at 2000rpm idle can be sod all really some people have mentioned the oil squirters can fail open causing low pressure im still miffed as to what the problem is
-
1 of my mates has a mk4 golf and someone has told me i could program it with VAGCOM can anyone please tell me how?! cheers, Rob
-
well ladies and gentlemen, i have some low oil pressure well i get 1.5 bar at 2000 rpm at 80 degrees on the MFA this was tested using a capillary oil gauge as used by VW so far i have changed the pump and all the bearings seem to be ok, no knocking or rattles. it develops 4bar when cold but this is to be expected as the oil is thick. as you can see the pressure is low, but not mega low so if anyone has some suggestions, that would be fantastic at this rate the warranty on the engine will be out before i get to really use it!!! many thanks, Rob

nah, its far from perfect and id like to get it running first!! its mystic blue Tom, not that you would be able to tell in the dark! when its clean its nice!!
-

i had problems starting with mine, turned out to be the oil pump. the pressure relief valve in the pump was sticking. symptoms werent quite the same as yours but its something to bear in mind -
he took it to clive attowe in norwich
-
its a febi oil pump i do have an oil pressure guage in the car, which isnt giving me encouraging readings, and the switch seems to be coming on when its supposed to. guess it looks like a genuine pump for me
-
i dont think i overtightened them it drove for quite a while without any problems, then suddenly i get the oil pressure light on all the time leads away from this point in my eyes i wouldnt be so bothered about changing the pump and stuff if it wasnt such a ball ache to do keep em coming party people
-
cant remember off hand, would that make much of a difference?
-
did that hit a nerve or what
-
has anyone had any problems with oil pumps from euro car parts? ive got some low oil pressure going on and as the pump is the only thing that makes the pressure i would hazard a guess at that being knackered
