did you sort priming the engine out? i had to remive the dizzy completly and turn the oil pump with a drill attachment. this way the engine will pump oil around including to the charger without actually turning the engine over (bad idea with no oil in there) the attachment is a long bolt with a notch cut out of the head to sit on the oil pump shaft and i put it in the drill and wound it over, crude but effective

nice 1 sir, i shall take a look. i had a word with demon tweeks the other day and they only do the fixed race harnesses, but they must be able to get them if i ask nicely!
-
so does anyone know of a schroth importer then? Rob

this is the sort of thing http://www.hmsmotorsport.com/store/schr ... l/quickfit

im after some harnesses like the schroth racing harnesses which are detachable from the car quickly. they clip into the existing seatbelt mounting points in the car and can be taken out quickly. i wnat these because i still want to be able to use the back seats of my car when i get it back. problem is, i dont know who can supply schroth harnesses in the UK? i tried demon tweeks but they couldnt help. i'm not sure im going to worthersee this year yet, if i do i will get some there but i would be interested in a UK supplier if anyone can help? regards, Rob

have fun grinding those valves back in!!
-
i would have said it wasnt much more than 160bhp given that the engine has probably never been built and is about 15 years old if not more. standard G60's are well slow, especially if you had a 320bhp skyline before

that must be the link i was thinking of
-
was it just a single wire plug? i did try and get some pictures from the bently manual, but i couldnt post them on here from my scanner, so instead of smashing things up i gave up! when im feeling better i will venture into my fuseboard, now isnt good though
-
well after feeling like crap all weekend, i decided not to climb across my car to look under the fuseboard, sorry guys. i did however pull the bently manual out of the car so i will have a look through that for you
-
sorry guys, dont come on here much anymore i shall have a look at the weekend for you if that is any help? from what i can remember, if you look at the board from the back, there is a short green link wire on the top left hand side (or if the board is in situe it will be the door side of the board. there are 2 places that this link wire can go into, 1 is wrong and the other is correct. what it will end up doing is linking the clocks to the spoiler module. i will get my bently manual and look properly later. this is what happened with my car anyway after my mate messed around with the board while trying to make his work!!
-
did you mess around with the fuseboard then? on the back there is a small link which goes to the spoiler control unit from the speedo. i know everybody thinks that you cant get plugs muddled up on the board, but you can!! its only a small link but it can be put in the wrong hole on the fuseboard. if you havent touched the fuseboard before the spioler packed up then its prob not that

real tight fit on the car. as they manifold is made of bigger pipe work, the nuts for the manifold are a pain to fit on. it can be done as i done it myself, but it took a fair while. take off the inlet manifold, put on your swearing hat and whack away Jim! nice bit of kit, much easier to let someone else fit it!!!

i love the orange mk2 with the TFSI engine in from foreign shores

Ben Collins does alot of driving on Vroom Vroom on Sky i think aswell
-
always worth a rebuild if you can afford and be bothered to do it
-
how many miles has the engine done? you are probably going o be putting alot more boost through the engine, so it needs to be in tip top condition Rob
-
most of them are 15 years old, so alot of stuff is on its way out. if they havent already, expect door handles, sunroofs, spoiler and various other parts to fail. i dont want to shatter your illusion that the corrado is the best car in th world, it isnt! i would have a look in the forums and check out what other people are experiencing. it would be a bit different going form a newer Audi to a corrado. great fun to drive, can be a pain in the backside to own!!

the crank was beyond repair, so i got another crank from a KR engine which is the same. had that checked by an engineering company, they balanced it (presumably checking it for being straight aswell) and micropolished the journals. they also cross referenced the shells to the size of the crank. so it kind of rules out the crank i think, so which avenue to go to next?!?!?!? Rob

the bearings have been put in in the correct order. the caps read from left to right, 1 at the cambelt end, 5 at the flywheel end. if you stand behind the engine you can read the numbers (not upside down) the crank hasnt been reground. it should have been checked that it is ok as it was balanced the other day. the bearings are std size, and if anything i would expect the crank to be loose if the bearings were incorrectly sized. the thrust washers were positioned so the vertical grooves were on the outside of the cap. the top thrust washer only sat in 1 way so i matched the bottom washer to that. many thanks for the suggestion though. if any of that sounds incorrect then please say Rob

if you can think of a problem, ive had it this year!! lol the crank bearings got wrecked, so ive had to get all that sorted out but i got as far as putting the crank in yesterday and it locks up when all the caps are tightened down hopefully this year will get better though!!! Rob

when assembly the bottom end of a PG engine, you are given 6 bearings with oil holes in and 4 without oil holes. obviously 5 go into the block, but where does the 6th bearing with hole go? bently manual says cap 4, but why? just wondering really i seem to be having a tough time assembling the my bottom end, when all the caps are set to 65nm on the crank, it is incrediably hard to spin the crank over, any ideas? Rob

also the bolts can come loose over time try looking at them before you replace the manifolds as its a pain in the arse the throttle body on the golf inlet mainfold is the wrond way round, so that wont fit the exhaust manifold will fit though i think

compresser does not need a blow off, it will sound rubbish. remove the boost return get the thermostat sorted out, having a button for the fan is a bad idea sorry for my bad english, im from Norfolk! Rob
