-
right enough kev i should really of stated that it should be a car that you could afford to buy and own................as if money no object i would be the proud owner of a porsche 959 8)

Can't have been a Storm as they were only Mystic Blue and some Green shade. Kev TBH tho kev mystic blue does give off a purple hue in sunlight........though i remember this car being up for sale a couple of months ago and how it was debatable if it did truly belong to the ex-england captain or if it was just a namesake

some beauts up here too like astra GT/e convertible in turquoise with a stupid EVO style front bumper that just looks at odds with the rest of the bodywork 5-door V/W-reg(MK5/6) escort with some stupid rear bumper M/N-reg Punto with real stupid stick-on stuff.....like the letters/numbers you get for your house front door in gold trying to make out its a GT that he has, stickers that look like he has cut them out of a mag and glued them to the doors heaps of reflective crap too and the crappiest of all wheeltrims available that make venoms look cool will try and get some pics of the punto

I've moved this into the general car chat DM just to keep it tidy..........as although its a problem its not really a Corrado problem if you know what i mean hopefully someone will be able to help you tho......so good luck
-
couldn't agree more with you there mark  .........would love one in silver with the red leather interior........just a pity previous alfa's bulid quality has cast a black mark on them
-
here's one for you all.........if Corrado's didn't exist, what car would you want to buy and own............i'll start off here, especially as when i was at my local filling station tonight i bumped into a guy i know and his "new" Karmann built car that i've always lusted after........the Escort Cosworth though they are still a bit pricey compared to a Corrado Vr6.......afterall this guy i know has just paid £13k for a 28k mile FSH black L-reg Cossie

it maybe was an early model S16 you had then..........but given that peugeot/citroen had used a near identical(if not the same) 155bhp engine in other models(405mi16 and ZX 16v for example)i find it hard to believe that they upped it to 165bhp for a short Ltd Edition run which after having looked thru my collection of car mags(every autocar, most performance car and most what-car) from 1994 not one of them has any mention of this ltd ed btw.......i'm not saying that you are lying just that you are maybe confusing a "modded" 306 S16 that someone has claimed to be a limited edition one

sure is Amit 8) that write-up helped me get my blower working on all 4 speeds within an hour of taking the interior apart :D

seemingly the tickford capri came about thru Bob Lutz(Ford of europe's boss)and AML's boss Victor Gauntlett having the idea of making a "super"-capri that could embarrass a Porsche yet rival the luxury of a Jaguar, with Ford providing the car(and initially development cash  )while AM-Tickford would utilise their skills as design and manufacturing specialists to create the ultimate capri sold thru Ford dealers........however Ford pulled the plug on the project and AM tickford went it alone gaining type approval so that they could market and sell the cars themselves......tho some Ford dealers were used to sell the cars......the main mechanical modifications over a standard 2.8i capri were the addition of a japanese IHI turbocharger which upped the power from 160bhp to 205bhp and torque jumped even more impressively from 162lb/ft to a whopping 260lb/ft,then the rear brakes were changed from drums to discs and the gearbox had some additional lubrication the interior had a general luxury feel to it with E/W's,leatherbound dashboard with walnut facings, sunroof and recaro's too......tho in cloth with full leather, wilton carpets and E/M's being optional extras they also had GRP bodykits too which were meant to give it a drag cd of 0.37 when they were launched in 1983 they cost just under £15k which in turn was approx £6k more than the standard capri 2.8i performance figures were(Autosport 17/05/84) 140mph......0-60mph 6.1secs......0-100mph 16.5secs

S16 wasn't a limited edition, and neither did it have 165bhp it had as Shilakadaddy rightly pointed out "only" 155bhp it was the range-topping 306 til they revised it and brought out the 306 GTi6(from 97 onwards AFAIR) which had 167bhp and then they brought out the mechanically identical 306 Rallye which was really the limited edition and was stripped of all luxuries and had rave reviews for its better accl and driver appeal

found this on the yahoo-E-group:- From: "Hartley, Guy" Date: Tue Aug 13, 2002 7:19 am Subject: RE: [Corrado-UK] VR6 cutting out problem part 2 A common fault with VR6 C's Unfortunately can be any number of things but the most common are: 1 Faulty or dirty MAS sensor (Air Flow Meter) - Try removing the sensor and cleaning with some carb cleaner. Check the readings on the sensor as detailed in the Bentley manual. 2 Faulty ISV (Idle Stabilisation Valve) - Again remove / clean or swap with another C owner to see if the problem goes. 3 Factory Immobiliser coil has slipped and is causing the engine to cut out, Only fitted on cars late '94 - to end of production run. Check to see if you have a transponder key, if so remove the plastic surround from the ignition barrel and ensure the receiver (metal coil) is firmly tied in place adjacent to the lock. 4 Faulty Ignition switch. Hope these give you some more pointers to look at. Regards, Guy -----Original Message----- From: knpol [mailto:knpol@y...] Sent: 12 August 2002 19:46 To: mailto:[email protected] Subject: [Corrado-UK] VR6 cutting out problem part 2 Hi there, I posted the following message a few days ago. Since the posting the car has been down with the VW specialist. They have checked the majority of your suggestions and I wanna thank you all heaps. The problem is still there and the last time I drove the car it cut out 8 times in 3 miles. I have also noticed that it does not seem to cut out from cold for the first mile or so but does very frequently from then on. I have had this problem for a few months (very infrequently at first) but it has got gradually worse. But when I got the Toad immobilizer removed it appeared to stop for awhile. In the meantime I drove upto and around Scotland 1800 miles with no problems. Then shortly after getting back to London the problems started again, getting worse and worse. The garage who are looking at the problem have say that both fuel and ignition are stopped when the problem occurs. I beleive they have also tried changing fuel pump and relay etc but with no luck. If anyone has any more suggestions it would be greatly appreciated. Many Thanks Kevin Original post I have a Corrado VR6 which I love. However I have been having problems with it and no-one seeems able to diagnose them. The problem is that when driving along the car will suddenly cut out and will not re-start for a few minutes. When it does restart it runs perfectly until it cuts out again. The problem has happened when both hot and cold and at all speeds. It has also got much more frequent recently. Yesterday it cut out 3 times in 2 miles. Your help would be very greatly appreciated. Auto electricains and garages seem to be baffled by this but I am sure someone out there has had the same problem. Many Thanks hopefully this might point you in the right direction

sounds like the factory-fit immobiliser playing up.........in that its not reading the code from the "transponder" in the key or vice~versa if you try a search on the forum you should be able to find out more.......if not do a search on the yahoo-e-group

Whos car do you like the look of on the forum?
vr6storm replied to sefton's topic in General Car Chat
well have to say i love Skid's G60 8) :D :D especially after having a nice "wee" drive of it this afternoon 8) :D .....afterall its the nearest i'll get to driving an "as new" G60 as for ones i don't like(hate is too strong a word)i'm afraid although the quality of work on Cheesy's car looks top-class i'm not that keen on its styling.....sorry cheesy mate  -
check that the bolts are on securely......mine had a very bad shake at speed just after i had my CV-boots done by a garage as a casher.......turned out that the wheel bolts were only on finger tight
-
........BTW its approx £50+vat for one and its mainly for keeping the battery from icing up in severe cold conditions moved this into "common Corrado questions"
-
like others here have said.......stuff like DR's and IN's stay on for longer than say SP's or other minor offences......not 100% sure on convicting codes etc but know that anything thats insurance related like the IN's are kept and counted for longer up to 10/11 years IFIRC

thought i recognised the "portly squire" and his VR
-
Ice grey violet would be the colour for me if i didn't have me storm though i also like Tornado red on early C's and i must admit i've grown to love classic green(was originally after a mystic blue storm)
-
and it still looked the dog's danglies 8) ............Andion the forum's one is pretty close to the 200k mark(well 190K-ish)and he seems to report no great problems
-
I bought my 55w Ice blue bulbs from Inters, the guy tried to sell me the 100w ones he had but I didn't because of what i'd heard altho he said they were 'legal' - why does it affect insurance??? because your car is then not road-legal
-
looks nice DM..........and funnily enough i have a ford escort in my street with a near identical number plate!.......well just 2 numbers out
-
providing of course it is mystic blue storm tho...a lot of un-informed people don't know that mystic blue is a storm only colour and just state that a blue C is "mystic"........even so its still cheap for a leather'd up VR........also the car might have a "dubious" past
-
well not exactly............a hi-miler motorway muncher can have quite a bit less wear on it than a low-mile town car........
-
ahh so you've seen sense and are away to put the proper engine in then darren........you know what i mean.......*cough* VR6!!!
