Can I get a Reeewind! Crazy Paving!
-
I don't think it really matters but if it bothers you just do a full change.
-
Not sure, you'd have to speak to Vince, he said they were just getting a little hot!

I have F239 BVV on a poster I got from the club, a red 16V - I think there were 5 red 16V's used to promote the new corrado to the press... I also have a poster of a yellow G60, In the original launch pack there are 2 broshures, one for the G60 one for the 16V both in red. In another early broshure which came with Autocar and Motor in september 1998 there is a silver G60, F546 DNV (It states 'the supercharged 1.6 G60 has all the virtues of a winner' - nearly right) In VW motoring from OCT 98 (VW Motorsport Corrado on front) they also have a silver G60 and red 16V ('CORRADO' plates) in there article on 'VWs yuppie sports coupe' - It also has a small bit about the car on the cover, the specially tuned G60 that broke six distance / average speed records for supercharged spark ignition engines reaching 169mph!

It would have to be at Stealth and they are currently upgrading their rollers.
-
Hmmm... I would check the battery terminals and maybe give them a clean and reconnect them, also check the v belt etc... ...The spoiler module may have just got confused after the loss of power thinking the spoiler was down when it was in its up position.

I havn't use home at all but the prob lays within IE6 (standard with XP) - I recently tried on a clean build of 2000 with IE5 then upgraded to IE6 and lost the front contents, I still cannot find what the problem is, (it won't be to do with proxy settings tho) - I assume its a java problem... and I dont think it matters about the SP level either....? Craig - just out of interest what are your SP levels of XP and IE? - also I take it you have full admin rights on the xp home pc?? - If it doesnnt actually install it may be to do with anti virus software running. One thing that you all can try which will work is download the Opera browser (with Java support) and copy the path from IE into opera when the manual is running, this is working fine on my pc

Alot of places do not sell the corrado specific ones, I got one for a mk1 golf and fitted it to the existing gator surround, hiding any excess leather underneath the original self tapping screws hold it in place fine.
-
Just fitted new headlamp bulbs and the 'monobrow'... Only took about 30 mins to do if you don't include the 3 months it took me to build up the courage to drill through the slam panel and headlight covers...
-
Yeah, they were available from VW but only in the states I think...
-
Yeah, I agree with Joe M, get a new block and solder for a better connection, if you do it right it will last! I would also check the power as mine was similar to yours when i got it except half my wires were bare due to shite electrical tape used and I also had 5v going through my earth (don't ask) - I suppose this is a sign of a stereo being nicked at some point and the theives just cutting through the loom, which is not unlikely on a 10 year old sports car which had no alarm as standard!
-
Tip, use some black silicone sealant when you have run through the gromet, keep the power and signal cables seperate to prevent interference and be sure fuse the power lead at the battery end!
-
Darren, prices include VAT I take it?
-
There is also a fuse for the clock...
-
stevemac, I have a Powerflow cat back and have been enquiring latley about a bypass pipe, A local firm has quoted me around £75 inc Vat to fit a Powerflow one, which will be custom made to exactly fit my car, they also provide the hole to put the sensor, some places will make this out of your old cat but I want to hang onto mine as its working fine right now.
-
Darren, can you post up your charger rebuild prices? or PM me if you prefer
-
if you have remote locking then definetly do the passat handle mod...
-
kevhaywire, Cheers dude... I spent ages researching that and typeing it in!
-
Ok, heres the scan....
-
Anyone else seen the pics of the new Golf Spyder, 2 Seater, Mid-engined and based on the MK5 shape should be out in 2005... Corrado replacement of sorts?
-
Be careful removing that screw Rams, using an Impact driver may work but be careful not to bend the handle into the door skin, I had the same problem, very rusty screw on the drivers side that looked like some muppet had used thread-tight on, maybe they'd used a replacement second - hand handle - I ended up drilling it out, the new handle is fine and the new screw is only done up hand tight, I have taken this off since to grease as I didnt when fitting.

Slick 50 Settlement From the Sept. 1997 issue of MOTOR magazine: "SLICK 50 Settlement. Three subsidiaries of Quaker State Corp. have agreed to settle Federal Trade Commission charges that ads for Quaker State's Slick 50 engine treatment were false and unsubstantiated. According to the settlement, the companies will be barred from making certain claims and be required to have substantiation for claims about the products. Additionally, the settlement will preserve the Commission's option to seek consumer redress if class action suits currently being litigated against Quaker State and its subsidiaries result in less than $10 million in consumer compensation. In July 1996, the FTC issued a complaint against four Quaker State subsidiaries. (Those subsidiaries are now defunct, and have been succeeded in interest by the three subsidiaries named in the settlement.) The FTC's 1996 complaint charged that ads for Slick 50 claiming improved engine performance and reduced engine wear were deceptive and lacked substantiation. The agreement to settle the FTC charges bars any claims that 1. engines lack protection from wear at startup unless they have been treated with Slick 50 or a similar PTFE product; 2. engines commonly experience premature wear unless they are treated with Slick 50 or a similar product; and 3. Slick 50 or a similar product coats engine parts with a layer of PTFE. In addition, the agreement will prohibit misrepresentations that Slick 50 or any engine lubricant meets the standards of any organization andmisrepresentation about tests or studies. The settlement also prohibits the three subsidiaries from making any claims about the performance, benefits, efficacy, attributes or use of engine lubricants unless they possess and rely on competent and reliable evidence to substantiate the claims. And finally, it holds open the option that the FTC may seek consumer redress. If the private class action suits against Slick 50 currently under litigation do not result in at least $10 million in redress to consumers, the agency reserves its right to file its own federal district court action for consumer redress. The FTC has also reserved its right to seek to intervene in any class action suit to oppose a settlement it believes is not in the public interest."

Where/how to get hold of old service records?
Supercharged replied to CazzaVR's topic in Suppliers Forum
Hmm, When I got my car, nearly all the receipts were there but it had got a replacement service book which was all stamped up etc - Just to check I got my dealer to print me off the service list which just includes services and dates, it also tells you where they were done and weather it was a minor of major service, also logs any other incidents dealt with by VW like breakdowns and tells you the cause... mine ran out of petrol twice and the other time the fault was recorded as a rear wiper motor failure??? Anyways you should be able to get something out of them but when my mum got her Mk3 Golf from the dealer with one previuos owner, the service history was there but no receipts, even tho ther car had only done 47k it would be useful to see what had been done and looks good when you come to sell the car but they said they did not have them and could not provide them?, I did have the one previuos owners address as he was very local and gave him a call, he did keep them and had passed them to VW when he traded his car in... -
Chaging the gear oil is always a good idea and sounds like the mounts need doing anyway... but if the bite is near to the floor it its quite likely you have a leak in the hydrolic system, check fluid levels and check the master and slave for signs of a leak...

It will loose its properties after time, and then lead to corrosion, It also may have been topped up in the past with just water or another coolant type so may be contaminated... I would recomend everyone to change coolant if its not been done before (especially if its gone a dark/murky colour!) and some would say every 2 years after that, its an easy job but worthwhile doing right as airlocks are easily created... Kev's method is best, filling from the rad top hose, this pushes air out of the system. You may then notice a difference in opperating temps or the time it takes to get there, this will also prolong the life of cooling sytem components and therefore the engine too! I would also recomend gearbox oil too, being changed to fully synthetic can make a noticable difference
