  1. I think you have to buy the bulb and casing as one unit from VW - about a fiver i think
  2. The scratches are from the seals, i take it there on the outside of the window - if not you'll have to get them sorted before there tinted else it will rip the film off!
  3. pimp from Essex - hehehe
  4. There is a relay for the Instrument Panel lights
  5. Yes, they do seize up... It's worth moving them to fully hot every so often in the summer to keep it working... I'm afraid it sounds like you have snapped the cable, you can check by taking the front off the heater controls, the other end goes down behind the centre console... I had to replace one in a mk2, the flap should free up again and you can help it when installing the new cable, they are very cheap from VW (a fiver) but it was a git to install as the cable was an exact length and you have to run it in the right place for it to fit, the best way to do this is to use the old one to pull it through, you may also want to take the lower dash shelves off to get to it more easily, and maybe the stereo too - important to keep any wiring out of the way if your running an amp etc as this can foul the cable and cause it to break because its pushed at an angle.
  6. Check the slave and master cylinders - they may leak internally at first so is hard to spot
  7. Yes had a look, mine is loose but there is no room for it too move side to side just up really so that won't be the cause of your rattle... The most common rattling noise normally comes from a broken CAT heatsheild!
  8. Ford Puma is also a favourite with the Hairdressers along with the new StreetKa
  9. There wasn't anything holding the one on my Golf when I changed the gasket but I didn't notice it being loose either... I will check the G60 one later and let you know... I don't think its vitally important it being there, you could try it without
  10. Yup :( , when i asked you about him I had already made the purchase unfortunatly... I'm going to see what happens over the next week or 2 about it befoe I put his details up on here - he's not got anything for sale at the moment anyway... I have his address and i'm sure there are a few people on here that wouldnt mind paying him a visit for me
  11. There is going to be a meeting about this soon we have been told.... ... its been down for ages and i've no idea why they don't just put the old one back up somewhere for now! I have heard alot of people are trying to join but can't find the details easily.

    Tyres

Me too, also on a G60, got a pair from a local place X-spurt Tyres for £80 all-in and then got another 2 from international for £50 and the same place fitted for a 10er... these are 195/50/15V's and the 205s are slightly more but not much as they are a very standard tyre size these days (most new cars are coming with 15's now) I am very impressed by performance both wet and dry, good tread pattern and don't seem to be wearing too quickly either!
  13. Maybe sell it on here.... how much did it cost - £500
  14. Yeah, I assumed you had already thought about it... Doh! - can you cancel the one you ordered? Plugs - i need to before the rolling road day is sorted!!

  16. Kev, Thats obviously when the car is stationary.... Do you think that somehow this is to do with something else at fault causing the 'brain' to think its moving - the faulty MAF sensor?? A long shot i know! - I take it that fault was not present before?
  17. Yeah, I've been keeping my eyes peeled but i'm still not sure about spending £500+ on an internet auction site.... The most expensive item I have bought so far is a 12-string Epiphone guitar and its superb for the £120 I paid for it and i've never had a problem up until recently buying a 'full set of late corrado door cards inc switches/handles in black' and after paying and not hearing anything for 2 weeks got sent just the front 2 with no bits at all, just the cards!' - hopefully may get resolved but another guy on here had problems with the same guy!
  18. Sounds like something you take in pill form after a Viagra! (sorry but its a friday night )
  19. Would you trust anyone called 'Elephant' to fix you car!?!
  20. Yes.. noticed this last week, looks good but I know what you mean about the watch adverts, its the only way they can afford to produce a magazine on such quality paper - fill with adverts, same as GQ, FHM etc... All this talk about watches reminds me - anyone got a (genuine) Tag Heuer Kirium for sale (gents, pref with brushed finish around dark face) ??
  21. These vents only work when others are closed, check the manual... I reckon the other vents are half open and moving slightly as your going along and this is causing the air to take a different path...
  22. I take it that this stuff has some sort of agent in it that 'cleans' the engine of carbon deposits... ... I remember the first time i stuck some REDEX in my mk2!
  23. Now now Kevin! - Thats not the attitude we want on here  Just say to yourself things like.... 'it is well built, much better than my mk2  ', 'i don't wish i'd spent a bit more and got a TT', 'VW dealers are great and always happy to look up parts prices for old cars knowing that were just using that as a guide and we'll get them much cheaper elsewhere!' '1000 pounds for a service! - If i'd known it was that cheap I would have got it done sooner!!' 'these cars handle great as standard and need no modifications whatsoever' 'the windscreen wipers and door handles are the best features'
  24. Yes, this used to be a common problem with the golfs as the pipe running into the top of the tailgate would leak and cause rust around the rubber seal - worth checking before its starts eating through! - if you do find any rust, fix the leak and stop the corrosion using some hammerite on the outside and waxoyl on the inside
