My car felt awful with the 17's i got with it, very harsh ride and heavy steering. The car was designed for 15" wheels and the difference was huge but not suprising!

Does it add another charger?

I drove Mr Haywire's car the other day and ever since my G60 has felt like a big heavy noisy lump! :?

May find this helpful...

Change it asap, or you will spend for money on oil! - Its an easier job on the VR than the G60 despite a few more bolts because the ones on the gearbox side are easier to get to (still use a thin bar or flexible attachment to get to them to prevent cross-threading and torque them up opposite to each other in turn making sure the gasket is sitting in place) The gaskets that VW supply (GSF appear to be the same) seem to be made out of a cork/rubber compound now (they used to be a more plastic type materiel) Make sure you check the sump for any damage or rust whilst cleaning it!!

Are the motors and mechs the same as a mk2?? - just that I have a complete wiring kit and brand new motors for a 3dr still in cellophane with wiring diagrams etc

Would have been nice to get that info from the dealer in the first place tho! ...also I notice Wolsey are advertising for a Parts sales person in todays paper!

I'm in! - they look like they'll match my Sony MP40 headunit nicely! Hopefully be able to get the logo on them as well as I think that also looks more modern. The rev counter should be in singles (- I've no idea why cars come with 20,30x100 etc as they look stupid next to the speedo, if there putting x100 on it why not x1000???) -
Late mk3's had 288mm discs as opposed to 280mm on the G60 and VR6 up front - I think the rear discs/calipers and carriers are the same size throughout - can someone confirm this??
-
They do, strangly someone else asked about this the other week - they are meant to be loose and won't make enough noise to be heard (only plastic) Have you looked at the heatshields yet?? - the noise can sound like its coming from up front as the sound comes through the manifold.

As Banana says... it should pull hard up to 140 and beyond... my standard car does and its due for a plug service and charger rebuild (@ 80k)

The Koni TA's are only rated to be lowered 30mm!

Guys - this may be just a Heatsheild rattle at a certain frequency.... check underneath the car as a friend revs the engine, CAT heatshield is the fav but there are several more that become loose and rattle...

Beetlebug_2001, when you change the door handles you also need to use the locking mechs's that go with them from the passat, they come off in seconds, 2 alum bolts and the part number is 839, the old ones are 837 - best to get the ones without the child-locks.

I don't think this car is genuine tho as 'The Scotts of Sloane Square Campaign' lives in Ipswich and is definetly not for sale! - The original 6 Campaign's were, as far as I know, given out to the top 6 VAG dealers in the UK (so unless Scotts had 2 of them?? ) As Roddy says it has been for sale for ages now - I would advise anyone interested in it to get the Reg / VIN number and call Scotts to find out more info...
-
I don't think you can to be honest - there won't be enough room for the glass to move freely and you could end up screwing up the electric window motors... Would recomend buying new seals whilst you still can! (VW or GPC)

There you go dude - tried to make an animated Avatar but limited to 20k!
