Bentley Manual is US based so does only cover the G60 and VR6 engines... I have run it on various OS's ok but there is some sort of problem to do with java and IE6 that I have not got to the bottom of, officially Bentley do not seem to support Win XP and IE6 and on some machines it works fine, others you don't seem to get the contents menu and you have to access pages through the search option, which isnt too bad as you can then navigate though the pages of that section.

Could be the starter, mine had a loose/dodgy connection when i got the car but if your unsure of the age oof the battery you may as well change it anyways just for the piece of mind - Bosch ones are so cheap now from GSF and there top quality
-
Yes i would have a look at the tensioners first.... hopefully they did this when the belts were changed but I don't trust anyone! It could be that the belt is just 'dry' and there is a product called belt dressing, a silicon based spray that should sort it out

Hmmm, I doubt its the box as its still working (moving) but if you want to check it, its very close to the manual switch - you need to remove the plastic trim that covers the fusebox.
-
So what part numbers did you get then Rams???? - did they not send the matching mechs??? 'Can I get a Reeeee-wind'
-
Yes, if you go from G11 to G12 you need to completly flush the system first, but as vr6storm, says G12+ is all thats available now and will mix with both but i'd still rather make sure clean water was flowing through the system before changing coolant type just to make sure there arn't any blockages caused by corrosion etc.

I did try fully synth in mine but it made my sump gasket leak more as the oil was so thin, after changing the gasket I went back to semi... I have heard from a number of sources that unless a G60 has been run on 'cooking oil' from day one its not a good idea to use fully synth as it can lead to oil pressure problems...
-
Eh? - just use the mechs out of the passat that go with the handle, then it should be a straight swap
-
Semi is best for the G60, alot of people say the fully synth is too thin!

Rams, sorry read other post on handles before this one.... The handles sound correct, if they look like the C ones and they fit they should be fine, I think the mechs must be the wrong ones, I know you should get the ones without the child locks but it should not make a difference to where the handles strike... Do the part numbers match, IE are the midle 3 of the handles and the mechs all 839 (corrado handles are 837) - let me know the full part numbers you have and i will look them up on ETKA!
-
Yeah as Rams, says, just get the handles and the mechs to go with them and there an easy fit without taking the door cards off. (this is assuming you have remote locking already of course)
-
I would mix the bronze and silver...

VW should only charge 45 for an oil and filter change???? - I still think this is alot tho.... The filter for the G60 (very important to use a genuine one) and the 10W40 semi syth quantum oil should be about £15 from VW with parts club discount...

Kev, I just read your post and I p***** myself.... Literally, I wasn't connected... Bo' Selecta! - looks like i've sprung a leak now...

There was a guy at the Volksfest on sunday selling Mocal's for £55, he had 2 dirrerent ones, one about twice the size of the other... (I was going to get one but there was another guy selling cappucino's for just £1.25!...sorry!) ...both the same price, this was for just the radiator part which was generic so i'd have to come up with some sort of mounting bracket, he also sold the braided pipes and the thermostats but couldn't tell me the difference between the dirrerent ones he had there?? so I thought a bit more investigation needed (I have been thinking about it for a while but my engine temp reached 130 down the A12 and I wasn't working it that hard either!) - maybe best to buy as a kit, what else is needed? is a fan neccessary or does it depend where its mounted? Royal Albert HAll??... Royal Albert 'All??

Dibbs, Yeah a pix would be good please, either on here or PM me...
-
To actually make it fit and look good you need to make some foam spacers to fill the gaps at either side of the seat.
-
Yeah, I checked the level of the gearbox oil last week when me and a mate were changing the sump gasket at the garage where he works (because the gearbox oil was done by another garage along with other bits after I first got the car so I just wanted to check it) The plug came out fine (you don't take it completely off unless your changing the oil as you will loose some, not entirely sure the best way to fill it back up again tho... I'm sure someone knows a good technique
-
Yeah, worth a try. You would think a life-time warranty on a product fitted to a car should be for the lifetime of the car and therefore not be connected to any person!
-
Yeah, Its a shame the registration hasn't run out, I was going to buy the name and swap it for a stage 4 rebuild!!
-
I used... (don't think the first 3 numbers matter - just the car they came off, its the 839 thats important) Door Handles - 357 839 205/206 Locking Mechs - 8A0 839 015/016A Handles are £17 new from VW or £10 from a breakers (try 01159791121)
-
Yeah, mine wasn't too bad - I used a screwdriver to unclip the rod but that reminds me, the interior handles are a bit loose compared to how they used to be, still work fine but could do with a slight tweak at some point! - Bo Selecta!

A Question for the people with PASSAT Rear handles
Supercharged replied to Majik's topic in ICE 'n' Secure
I fitted mine as the originals broke and as I already had remote locking they were cheaper than buying one Corrado handle and i'm glad I decided to get them as I did one side first then the corrado handle broke on the other side just before I was about to fit the other one. I do think they are more secure as well, one because of the screw driver into the lock thing and also to prevent people with locksmith tools getting in.. My mates brother (who is a proffessional Locksmith) likes to 'practice' on friends cars when we're round his, It was quite scary how he managed to open all locks on my mums mk3 golf in less than 10 mins. He also says the tools to do this are not hard to get hold of if you know the right people!
