  1. I love my T5, get a van they are great. Mine is off for a new engine next week after 5 months off the road. Buy it, you won't regret it, kept in good nick a T4 will retain if not go up in value. Should be easy enough to work on too.
  2. Great story this and I too am allowed to indulge with the toys. Says something when our sensible car is an Alfa lol.
  3. Or for a much cheaper version use bicarbonate of soda. This is the dishwasher method basically. You won't do any damage and you don't get suds with this method
  4. No, totally different stud pattern. 16v is diagonal, 8v vertical.
  5. Based on symptoms I would say initially cold start valve is not firing, after several turns there is enough fuel to fire it but then it cuts out. Keeping throttle open allows more air in and therefore more fuel and it will run. He should test both our methods.
  6. I am not sure disconnecting the cold start valve ( sits on right front of the air inlet manifold), will make any difference because if it is not working nothing will change. So best thing to do is remove but leave connected to fuel and wiring loom, get someone to turn over car whilst you aim into something to catch fuel. If ypur car is stone cold it should squirt fuel.
  7. Still interested in the controls if you can include all the metal clips and all the lighting bits are present (which I can't see in your photos). Also I take it the dial was stiff when the cable was attached? Anyway on the basis you have it all £35 delivered?
  8. I have had 4 g60s, 4 vr6s, and 3 16vs. In the main most to sell on. My current VR6 I live to bits and I want this to be a keeper. I look at it in the same way as I look at the Alfa, bloody great looking cars
  9. If you don't have an aftermarket oil cooler without a thermostatic sandwich plate, I would say straight away to change the oil temp sendor that sits above the oil filter. There are two senders, one is the oil pressure sender and one is the temp sender, can't remember which one is which but easy to find out as you just take the wires off one at a time and see what happens on the dash clocks. Which ever the temp sender is I would get it changed.
  10. Can you take a photo please and how much delivered as spares or repairs?
  11. Price on a good working set of heater dials please posted? Also where are you for collection?
  12. Does it have dials or sliders for the heaters, if dials how much delivered as long as they are fully working with no broken off bits?
  13. I have a pretty new distributor sitting in my garage needing a new home that is complete with hall sender. Drop me a pm to discuss if you want it.
  14. I am with you Swompy, one mark only, we don't call the 90 spec Mk2 facelift the Mk3 do we? It is either 90 spec or late spec. The latter is often used in Corrados and explains it clearly for me.
  15. Although some do use them as daily drivers, though in my case it was not meant to be that way. However mine has a great mechanical history and has proved to be more reliable than an 03 Alfa 156 - engine blew up, the T5 - turbo then engine wear, 57 Alfa 159 - sticky egr and then a water leak. So VR has been brilliant to own and actually is not too awful on fuel which is really a misnomer for those that assume they are really thirsty. Ave 28-30 mpg on local a-road driving to and from work. Put into context the T5 was doing 32mpg, the Alfa 159 Jtd does about 35 mpg (needs remap to produce plus 40 mpg and 260 bhp!!) Anyway I would go for it, your budget will get you a lot of motor. I know of a green Storm that could be had for £1.8k that sounds ok on paper. So take your time and you will find a bargain in these times.
  16. Hard one this, mine is worth more to me than its actually worth. If I sold it I would have to find another daily, which would probably not be as good mechanically as mine. So it would have to be a really silly offer that is really unlikely seeing it is rough diamond. So not for sale, unless of course someone wants to give me the £7k for a brand spanking new engine fitted for the T5.
  17. Let me know about the offer on the wipers, cheers
  18. You will go but you will return, they do that too you. I drive our Alfa which is sublime for distance and rapid enough to make life interesting, but when I get back into the VR the balance, steering feel, power and noise always reminds me why I love them.
  19. Has it got Lupo wipers, can't really see from the tiny profile picture. If you have though give me a price (I only actually need 1 arm but would understand if you don't want to split)
  20. At least I found the rest of the arm in the bush after work so it might weld back up. Robbing stealers want 52 quid plus VAT for ONE arm!
  21. Got to my C this morning to find that my drivers side lupo aero wiper arm had been broken off over the weekend. What is wrong with people?
  22. Due to local morons snapping off my drivers side lipped wiper arm I need one quickly. Can anyone help?
  23. Yeah early front end so no abs
