  1. Forgot to say, does it have an MFA or not, and is it an Auto?
  2. Have you got the chassis number - there's a few different part numbers...
  3. those hoover attachments with the soft bristles seem pretty good at cleaning air vents as well...
  4. there isn't a shortage at all, the good ones just cost more than a grand for a VR!
  5. Why not just buy mine and not have the worry... ;)
  6. Sell the charger, chip and pulley and turbo the 8V lump with a rebuilt bottom end... A hefty amount of boost would see you the wrong side of 300bhp and for less than a 1.8T conversion too I'd wager...
  7. Corrado handles a little better than the Golf though - you don't hear the Mk3 being praised as one of the best handling FWD cars ever, do you...? ;)
  8. Corrado prices are actually quite low at the moment - when it comes to cars like this, Parker's is Pointless I'm afraid!
  9. Oh, and 205/45-16 come out as 591mm overall diameter, so they're bigger than the 215/40s There's always 195/40s but I reckon that's just a silly stretch on a 9" rim, imo...
  10. 215/40-16 - overall diameter=578mm 205/40-16 - overall diameter=570mm So the difference in radius is half that, 4mm. If you really need the extra 4mm clearance then get the 205s, if not, get the 215s (which seem to be much more common, and cheaper too). All depends on how low you want to go I guess...
  11. She had a head rebuild at Stealth about 20K ago, but all VRs used anything up to 1L/1000miles even when new! Mine's nowhere near that, but every little helps, ya know... :)
  12. But the 5W is only the cold rating, so surely that's better as it gets the oil round the engine faster when cold (a good thing I assume?), but when it's hot it doesn't go as thin as, say, Quantum Silver, leading to less oil useage? Seems logical to me, but then I could be completely wrong!
  13. Anyone tried it? I know that Kev uses Silkolene ProS 10W-50 as it's slightly thicker than 10W-40 at 100deg and reduces oil consumption in VRs; but the Halfords stuff is £20 less for 5L. Mine doesn't use any more than average, but thought this might help reduce it even further. From what I've heard, Halfords oils are no worse than the decent branded makes...
  14. Toyo T1S - they do seem to be a little narrower than other makes of the same width though i think...
  15. looking utterly sweet furks, i see you finally got your mitts on some RSs after all then! good work that man... 8)
  16. Furks, Laura had 215/40 without rubbing, and hers definitely was not standard height! not as low as yours, admittedly... ;)
  17. ahhh, just superb... you've always gotta have someone going past the boundaries of taste and purpose!
  18. only thing I've heard is that apparently the engine has to come out for the cambelt change, a la Ferrari...
  19. Apart from your G that had 16s though, eh Dave...? ;)
  20. D90. but you get the idea of the Estoril in black with a diamond-cut face: And the BMW E30 BBS: See how the spoke pattern goes right up to the hub nut. Like I said, they're 7" as opposed to the 6.5" of the G60 BBS, and a lower offset too so they'll fill the arches better.
  21. tbh, a lot of the higher mileage cars are in some ways a better buy as they will have had all the worn out parts replaced by now - or at least they should have! though if you could stretch to it, this would be an absolute cracker - http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic.php?t=44637
