Project car changed - update 11/10/06 pg3

Looking good Phil! What sealant do you use for fitting the front wing? Gotta do mine soon... -
Both of those are normal - the driver's side window has one-touch for both up and down, but the passenger side is one-touch for down only. And the sunroof doesn't have one-touch operation - not sure if you could convert it at all...

only if your lucky enough to pull scarlett  oi...! ;)

Heater controls/cigarette lighter - don't light up..

I'd still be inclined to check the continuity of the bulbs first, both have a habit of blowing with alarming regularity...! -
Carefully cut the edge next to the windscreen with a blade, making sure you don't damage paint, then rub and scratch it off with a fingernail...

I got a quote on a Merc 500SL, £6k value, for a laugh - £675 fully comp with protected no claims and only a £120 excess... Hmmm....! -
I want to know what all these kids do to be able to afford cars like this?! Seems like every under-25 is driving around in S3s, or £10k (just guessing Jay, no offence intended if it was more or less!) Corrados, or sh*t like that... Or do they just have rich parents/still live at home?! Jealousy subsides... ;)

Got a part number/supplier, Steve? I get baaaaaad hayfever... -
have a looooong read of jay's member's gallery thread! It's basically a complete MkIV Golf in a Corrado bodyshell... as for nicest, well, that'll always be open to debate, but the point about jay's was that everything done to it looked as though VW had built it that way, it was so unbelievably factory... trust me, you have to see it to appreciate it!
-
yeah, not to my taste, but looks like it's been done to an impressive standard, which is what matters more!
-
yeah Si, do the first ones, something different! though you should put on the ones that you prefer...

968 Club Sport? -
Ruby's have had the return lip on the rear arches cut back...
-
Yeah, you've got the wrong handles - you need the rear door handles and rear door mechs from any 88-92 Passat, not the facelifted 93-96 model...
-
jeez jim, what's with the rain up your way...?! never happened here - maybe us southerners only have "soft" rain... ;) hope you get it sorted though mate!
-
scarlett had 9x16 ET15 Borbets on both her valvers (the latter of which is now owned by Jim) - if it's not lowered then you won't need to do the arches but it'll look rather daft; if you do lower it, then you'll need to fold up the return lips on the rear arches, and the fronts will catch slightly on full lock - but that's all... oh, and you may need to do the front arch return lips as well if it's not a late-spec body...

you can't break it Trig, that's even more sacrilege! -
Well, considering it's a gen-ewe-wine 57k VR in Moonlight Blue... ;) Nice one Marcus, glad you're happy with it!
-
well, if it is bore wear, then so much for the "should be good for another 100k" hope that i had... or I'll just switch to the Silkolene... ;) will check the plugs when i get time...
-
andy, which temp sensor was that? roger, i hear what you're saying, but i can't see how the seals would have gone in only 2 years, and surely Stealth would have fitted new valve guides if they were worn...
-
Bringing this back... :) Mine's started to give a little puff of smoke on acceleration after overrun, but it's more white smoke than blue, and strangely enough it only does it after low-revs overrun (2500 and below) rather than high-revs overrun. It does noticeable pop and fart on low-revs overrun and not when at the higher revs, so are the two linked? Doesn't seem to be using ridiculous amounts of oil, and it doesn't smoke on startup either. Head was done at Stealth 2 years ago by the previous owner, so I can't believe the valve seals and guides are shot after that short length of time...
