  1. Right, to bring this back rather than start a new thread ;) - can the mk4 288mm calipers be used with the mk3 golf 288mm carriers? if so, are spacer washers needed, or is this only if you use the mk4 288mm carriers? basically, for 288mm brakes: mk4 calipers + mk3 carriers + mk3 discs = no spacers needed/not possible? mk4 calipers + mk4 carriers + mk3 discs = spacers needed? mk3 calipers + mk3 carriers + mk3 discs = no spacers needed, obviously is that right?
  2. whatever dude, they just look better, so you should keep them!
  3. Relays should click when they activate... :)
  4. just do both and change them depending on your mood! if you're shelling out on a respray, then it's not exactly much more is it...? ;)
  5. just go drive a good (and by good, i mean not a tired one with knackered suspension bushes) VR on some decent b-roads, open the throttle wide until you hit the redline (with the window open of course)... calibra? what calibra...? ;)
  6. 225/45-17 is waaaay too big i'm afraid mate... close, but no cigar... ;)
  7. heheh, had a bit of a busy weekend, so it's still in primer - but i did actually manage to locate a late-spec aqua blue passenger wing from a breakers anyway so now i don't need to finish it off! though i think i will, just for the practice... sometime this week, if i get time... :)
  8. http://www.mjinteriors.co.uk/ ;)
  9. i stand corrected! always thought that chargecoolers were better, but obviously not... you learn something new every day!
  10. i remember revs or max power doing a std intercooler/uprated intercooler/charge cooler test on a escort rs turbo aaaages ago - they found that the chargecooler dropped the inlet temps by far far more than the uprated intercooler... it's just whether you want the hassle of fitting a rad, reservoir and pump for the chargecooler water system...
  11. Mate that really sucks, i can only imagine how you feel... :(
  12. you may laugh, but if i didn't spend all my time watching american hotrod/overhaulin/rags to riches/etc, then i wouldn't have even considered having a go at it! it's all your fault... ;)
  13. shilakadaddy and bally have both had these wheels on theirs - check their Members Gallery threads for pics... :)
  14. actually, the speedo doesn't sit against its stop - if you have never taken the needle off before, you can actually lift the needle over the stop and it will rotate a few more degrees anti-clockwise before it stops, hence the error when you put it back on... ;)
  15. aye, take the needle off, put it back on 5mph further round! mine over-reads by exactly 5mph all the way round (checked using a Road Angel), so that's what i plan to do!
  16. reckon you might be the only one Nik! fastest raddo girl on the forum...?
  17. Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice... :) Today I mostly cleaned Ruby ready for Jim...
  18. chippys, sparkys and plumbers - that's who's earning the money these days then...! Good luck with the conversion though, sounds like it'll be a beast...
  19. Std valver discs are 256mm, just get the calipers and carriers off a G60, plus a set of new G60 280mm discs and pads... Job done!
  20. I'll be honest mate, I don't really know what I'm doing but seeing as the wing's fubar'd anyway i thought why not...!
  21. Indeed, I shall be there - I'm interested to see how it comes out too...!
  22. 21 and you have a Storm, enough money for a 3.1 rebuild, and a MK3 runabout as well...?! Wtf do you do for a living...?!
