  1. Nah - 195/45-15 is fine on the MK2Golf but on the 'rado the wheels'd look lost in the arches - 195/50's are bad enough as it is! You got 55 profiles at the mo? If yr coming to Inters tomorrow (which of course you should!), then I reckon you should buy my 4 195/50-15 Avons off me...! ;)
  2. 3rd'd here man... Yeah, a few of us southern jessies are headed up tomorrow morning - very early I hope! Guess I'd better crack on with waxing the Borbets and renewing the coolant/thermostat/fan switch once the car's cooled down...
  3. The 45 profile tyres wil give you a slightly smaller rolling radius of the wheel, meaning your speedo will over-read slightly, but there won't be any adverse affects on how the car drives... In fact, because the tyres are lower profile for the same diameter (15"), you'll be able to lower the car more! ;)
  4. Anyone from the Surrey/Hants borders area looking to get their C smartened up could do a lot worse than giving these guys a call: Crystal Kleen Valeting (01252) 333114 / (07970) 118191 Mick & Paul Heard They're based in one of the units in the small industrial estate next to Ash Station, near Aldershot. I can confirm that after a "The Works" valet for £75, my Passat looks like a new car! They've done literally everything - including underneath the boot carpet, cleaned the pedal rubbers, inside door pockets, full leather treatment, headlining - the lot! That price includes a full engine bay steam-clean and dressing too - and there's no electrical gremlins in there at all... I really can't speak highly enough of their work; and Paul is a former MK1 Golf owner (15 of them!). Just tell 'em Dave with the Passat sent you ;) - you won't get a discount but hopefully I will next time I go back!
  5. Buy a proper Porsche, 944 at the very least! ;) Always wanted me a nice 944 S2 - mmmm, 3 litres in four cylinders!
  6. Hmmm, not sure if the Corrado suspension will work - the rear should at least fit cos it's the same, but the spring rates will be all wrong due to the cars being different weights... IIRC the Corrado uses Golf II front suspension, so not sure if it's the same as the Passat... Sorry, just realised I've told you very little!
  7. He made it - and no, he isn't making them for anyone else!
  8. ...and the driver sits where, exactly?! on the roof, mayhaps...?
  9. Gavin (h100vw) has one... ;) If you wanna see a Passat leather interior, look in my thread in the Member's Gallery! Link l l l V
  10. PeteJ, illumination pics... So, who's gonna do a Burberry-interior'd Corrado...? ;)
  11. Right, as asked for by PeteJ, here'a couple of (bad!) pics of how far I've got with the interior illumination... The only things left to do are to redo the screens possibly as the blue is kind of dull, fit the red Seat spider to the heater controls so I have red aircon buttons, and do the LEDs in the dash switch for the rear electric windows as it's impossible to get to them without destroying the switch! Hmmmm, a challenge.. :) So, what think you? I have a lot of coloured blue and red gel sheet left so if anyone wants some cut to fit the clocks and screens then PM me - if I get enough interest I may run off a batch...
  12. Mine's a Wolfsburg (yes, you can all throw insults in my direction but mine was actually built there! ) so not much use to you... Looks a bit like this one though, which I reckon'd look good:
  13. Gonna resurrect this 'cause I bought some cds today in the HMV sale.... Bloc Party - Silent Alarm (Banquet; what a song!) The Pixies - Greatest Hits (no comment necessary) Explosions In The Sky - The Earth Is Not A Cold Dead Place (for fans of Sigur Ros and Godspeed...) Bright Eyes - I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning (random purchase just cos I've heard that they're good!) Also been listening to both the Coheed And Cambria albums lately - prog-core rules! randal_24, what did you think of the one I gave you? EDIT: Bright Eyes rule! Kind of how Loudon Wainwright III (now there's a man and a half...) might sound if he was 20 now and liked alternative music and stuff - GO BUY!
  14. Like i said before, took us ages to graft them rear doors in... Glad yr happy with the lighter surround - my illumination's just about done, pics soon...! Damnit, they always drag you back in!
  15. I say find a machine shop near to you and see if they'll machine the centre out to 57.1 for you (should be no trouble for a decent machinist) and also put a little chamfer in to clear the hub/mating face radius - then all you'll need will be some 7mm spacers (they could probably make these as well!) to bring the wheels out to a 43mm offset, which IIRC is the standard offset on a VR. Job's a good 'un! :) Edit: I mean get the wheels machined out - not sure if that was clear or not! D'oh...
  16. I already own a "sensible" car - and am doing my damndest to change it into an un-sensible one! Ach, just shove a TDi lump in the 'Rado... ;)
  17. Trust me - it ain't just the Corrado they put 'em in...!
  18. VW centre bore is 57.1mm (well, it is on mine at least!) - just had some custom spigot rings made up for two of my Borbets by a local machine shop...
  19. Ah, so it's your VR that I saw in Danny's workshop, anubis - looks rather nice! Yeah, if you can get through to Danny at MCM (might as well try getting blood from a stone!) then he def knows his stuff... Factor in having to clean your car afterwards though as his workshop is at the end of a muddy/dusty lane!
  20. Think I might give them a shot at getting Sen all nicely aligned once the Borbets are back on on Saturday (yay!) - if you get yrs done before then PM me and let me know if they're good!
  21. Hang on - an insurance comapny that does what they're supposed to in the event of a claim...?! Something's amiss here... ;) Glad to hear it's all getting sorted in your favour though mate...
  22. From what I've seen of the price of the 1.8 valvers lately, go for one of those; especially as you won't have a catalytic converter to worry about come MOT time... Unless you really want that extra teeny little bit of torque and the late body/interior of the 2.0 valver! ;) Edit: BTW, welcome to the forum chap!
  23. Got my red/blue illumination on the instrument panel done (only just finished it!) - screens are slightly the wrong shade of blue if I'm perfectly honest, but damn it looks better than the green...! Fitted late-spec Corrado needles too... Just gotta wait for my three replacement electric window switches to arrive so that I can butcher them all into one, with red LEDs, then do the spider for the aircon buttons and the red transformation is complete! Yay me!
  24. Anyone?! I could kind of use knowing this 'cause she's going in to the garage on Thurs for a full timing overhaul and need to sort out a spare dizzy by then...
