  1. I'll 2nd that - get them ones with a dish on 'em!
  2. I know mine's not a 'Rado, but... 1. Rewired stereo connector so VW wiring loom terminates in an ISO connector and looks factory - no adaptors for me anymore! 2. Replaced n/s headlamp with one that doesn't get condensation and hasn't got a corroded reflector. 3. Attempted to paint headlamp surround of dead headlamp as practice - failed miserably! 4. Replaced centre dash section with one that isn't shattered into a gazillion pieces. Broke a switch blanking panel in the process, d'oh! 5. Replaced instrument panel surround with non-broken one. 6. Still to do - wash and hoover in preparation for E1K @ Ace Cafe tomorrow.
  3. Is anyone using the Logitech Driving Force Pro steering wheel? Am sorely tempted to buy a PS2 just for GT4 after having a go using this wheel at Beaulieu on Fri...! But why don't they make a RHD games wheel?! Sucks...
  4. From what I've read in various threads, the best induction kit is not an induction kit! Simply a K&N (or similar) panel filter in the standard airbox, with a good cold-air feed to it... :)
  5. As far as the insurers are concerned, any deviation from the spec the car left the factory with is a mod!
  6. Well, the carbon idea was just because the paint on my bonnet's a bit faded and was thinking it'd be cheaper that getting it resprayed - plus, it keeps the car in with the cal-look... :) If anyone knows how I could get an inexpensive carbon bonnet I'd love to know! Though I suspect the words "carbon-fibre bonnet" and "inexpensive" aren't very compatible...! I reckon I'll be sticking with the black then, though the colour-coded idea's got me thinking - reckon it'd cost a bit more though! ;) Quality motor? A Passat?! Never thought I'd hear that said...! ;)
  7. Looking lush mate, top work fella! 8)
  8. Right, slot and Rustynuts, sorry, but I was searching for two months to find a decent set of Borbet A's - didn't even know they did 'em in 17"! - before I found these, so no sell I'm afraid... This does actually rule me out of getting a VR 'rado actually, seeing as how I'm never selling them... ;) So the general concensus is to stick with the black + polished lips then? Ant, if you read this, you seem to be the king of 'chops at the mo, so any chance you could do one with them in silver? Cheers mate... 8) I'm really flattered with all the comments guys, I really do appreciate that you all like the way Sen looks!
  9. Right, you may or may not have seen a pic of my Passat in my Member's Gallery, so there's another one attached to this thread. Basically, I'm going to be getting my wheels refurbed now that my flat centre caps (embossed with the Borbet name) have arrived from Germany, and what I want you opinion on is: Should I A) Stick with the black wheels with polished lips as they are now B) Revert to original silver with polished lips C) Colour-coded to match the car with polished lips D) Another colour, such as graphite grey with, you guessed it, polished lips E) Stop being such a girl and make my own bl**dy mind up or D) All of the above - one on each wheel! Bear in mind that I was originally intending to go fairly Euro-look with it (and still really want to), and the black wheels are more Cal-look, and that the nut-type caps are being replaced with flats. Although, I am starting to like the Cal-look thing and have been toying with the idea of carbon-effect vinyl for the bonnet (cos I can't afford a genuine one!) Your opinions are, as ever, most valued. Cheers guys! 8)
  10. I knw that BJV Engineering in Herts does a sort of black chrome finish similar to the Wolfraces - click here to see examples - so chances are that other places will do too... HTH!
  11. Tch, my Waynes manual for the Passat doesn't cover the VR6 or 16V engines... useless...! Sorry!
  12. Definitely! Good to see some nice uses of the rule of thirds there mate! Very 8) EDIT: A good trick is to always turn the front wheels so that the one visible to the camera is square-on to it, like in Phil's shots...
  13. I'll have a look in my Waynes manual when I get home and post up the specs... What info exactly did you want?
  14. I thought it was "Wax on, wax off"? ;) Man, the 80s had all the best films... Talking of T-Cut though, does the stuff for metallic paint just cut the lacquer, and if so, is it less harsh than the regular stuff?
  15. Dunno about the beam pattern of the fogs, but by the looks of the headlights, the yellow part is in the reflector so you could just swap the headlight lenses for RHD ones...
  16. The earths were cleaned when I took the starter out on Sunday so I'm pretty sure they're ok - especially as the car will start when hotwired! After a lot of fiddling after work today, I'm 100% sure it's the switch, but the problem is that on the Passats, the steering wheel, stalks and entire lock barrel mount have to come off the steering column in order to replace the switch! :( So there is no way I'm replacing it with a GSF one (no disrespect, but I'm having issues with one that's only two months old... ;)), so will have to order one from the stealers and spend an afternoon replacing it... On the plus side, I managed to give the switch a good enough smack that it now just about works if you really really turn the key hard!
  17. Camskill have always been pretty damn cheap, and the delivery is free and fast...! 8)
  18. Cheers for the advice guys, much appreciated! Dennis - after reading your post, the wiring diagram I have made a bit more sense :) so will check that out in the light tomorrow... Think I'll be toddling off to the stealers for a switch as I've heard the GSF ones are a bit flimsy? I know that's what was fitted just before I bought the car...
  19. Liking the last pic, very 8)!
  20. Anyone else got an opinion on this - I could really use some confirmation one way or t'other!
