  1. It'll be just fine, generally is but there's always lots of indecision on forums so you need to look through most of it, just like the sprung steel paddle ones, people say they aren't good for the road as they judder so much, not in my case and i can only speak from experience. Let me have the one that comes out please? Chris
  2. G3 then G10 as it's loads finer and will give a glassy finish but takes it town really slowly so be patient, Clay is meant to pick up the very small pieces of debris fron the micro holes in the paint, it's not meant to be a rubbing compound and not sure if it's the thing for this job! Chris
  3. Shame you couldn't have driven up in the VR and had it fitted in 3 hours  Chris
  4. How heavy is a Koli? I'm not sure but a VR flywheel weighs 60 of them! Chris
  5. There is deffinately a knack to it, and i don't have it, CorradoVR6-n.o.s did it with only 1 eye open, i was in awe! Not a good job but i did it to replace the clutch then to fit the flywheel, now that was good planning wasn't it, not! Like when they dig up the roads then 5 days later the gas board redigs up the same piece of road when it could have all been done at once if they co-ordinated it. Worth it in my opinion, but try and go for the alloy front pulley too as this is a heavy weight too and the art of tuning a N/A engine is to reduce the reciprical weight so as to allow as much power as possible to get to the wheels. The gearbox is 60Kolis silly! I've never taken the subframe in hand when doing it, just guided the flanges around it but it does get jammed in some awkward places so be warned. Chris
  6. but be warned, paddle clutches can be juddery and grabby. Mine isn't! and my flywheel is a fraction af the weight of yours Kev! How much did you get this for, i NEED an old VR slutch kit and i can then offer organic and Paddle clutches, 4 or 5 puk versions Chris
  7. Champion, Cat Cams seem to know thier stuff, looks very good and there's cams over 300degree duration too, excellent! Chris
  8. I'm sure it had 287bhp and loads of torque and i even have an ATB but i just can't get the power down, ah well time for another fag! Chris
  9. Yeah, basic maintenace though, these are things that generally let the side down and should be given consideration and work from there. Good luck getting it sorted, the cams may be badly timed if it's had a head gasket who knows, it's a process of elimination so start with the easy and cheap things first. Chris
  10. vdubjb, the link isn't correct, i deleted the dot from the end and i got onto a site but simply couldn't find the timing gears, can you post a direct link please? Chris
  11. I agree, the VF-engineering ones have overtaken the VT ones and in my opinion are very good, about £110 although i paid £130 for mine 2 years ago, things have come down a little. Chris
  12. Well said Paul, i just can't see the other forums being as supportive, it's really great and a sign of a stromg enthusiasts community! Bojmobile, well that just shows how much the Corrado has impressed upon my life! VAG all the way  Chris
  13. triggermyson, you mean more and more of them become supercharged! Gaz, musicman has a VR rediator top hose but he won't post it, i'm just wondering? Chris
  14. Cheers Socks! STORM 2, i did try Carotid sinus massage myself whilst waiting for the ambulance but to no avail. LOL at one side only! I'd pass out if did both sides at the same time, no blood/oxygen to the brain! The danger as you say with the massage is that arterial plaque can break off and lodge in the capilliaries around the brain and your in trouble as well as arterial damage and bleeding, the contras go on and on but at the time you try what you can. My arm has a lovely subcutanious contusion and hematoma from the weilders! All is well though, the forum keeps me sane too, need to get out onto the sun though, looks nice and bright out there. Chris

Pulleys are already sorted for the chargers, just say what diameter and they'll be done. The new ones are for the front crack pulley and should be made from alloy and have swiss cheese resemblance Price TBA Chris
  16. Now are we sure that the blue sender will change fueling or is that the domain of the maf and lambda? The blue one is the ECU temp sensor and changing the res on it will adjust the idle speed, i've done it but not sure if the mixture was actually altered! Chris

Just found this page, though it was explained better than a lot of others, plus it proves i'm not talking waffle, never looked for DCR info on the net before but if you want to find out about the REAL C/R then there's plenty out there to read up on! Dynamic Compression Ratios Explained Chris

When i was talking about dynamic C/R's and 15:1, well i thought i'd do a search for things to see what was out there and there is some pretty clued up folk out there for sure! This is a screen dump of the results of H8RRA's engine with a couple of guesses so not totally accurate but does illustrate the difference between static and dynamic C/R that i keep waffling on about Kev! This example turns out to show that the engine runs at 16.99:1C/R but dynamic compression ratio is 9.72 :1 which it is! and produces 331bhp and 311Lb/ft torque. Chris
  19. No probs Gaz, you could drop a few sovs(money) and get it fitted whilst here then enjoy the drive back even more? Chris

The higher the C/R the faster the exhaust gasses expand and you need less fuel to make the same bang. The higher it is though creates it's own problem when using petrol which isn't the best fuel to use for combustion, just the cheapest compromise. Using methanol and oxyget would yeild double the Bhp but wouldn't be reliable as it's too unstable and thus dangerous. The more you squash something the hotter it gets as the molecules rub against each other tighter and harder, this heat is good and bad. If the piston or some part in the chamber gets hot enough then it will ignite the fuel, this is called preignition and causes engine failure, don't get it confused with pinking which is the act of ignition too far before TDC. Compression is a relative thing, i could run the same engine on 8:1 C/R then change things and modify it to run at 15:1C/R and both would run reliable i promise. The thing that makes all the difference is valve timing. If an engine running 10:1C/R has it's valves closed at BDC then it compresses what's in the cylinder from the bottom to the top and the result is 10:1C/R The same engine with a wild cam fitted that closes the valves half way ip can't start to compress anything until this half way point else the gasses just leak out because the valves aren't closed to make a sealed volume. This engine would result in a C/R of only 5:1, The result is that you could run this setup with a 20:1C/R and it ould run on the same Dynamic C/R as the VR does as standard, 10:1C/R It would be fabulously powerful as the small amount of gasses which were compressed would thus expand at an incredible rate and produce huge power though not a huge amount of torque as this needs the valves to be closed for a long time to push the crank as far round as possible. The engine would still run correctly in the right stoichiometrical ratio and rev like a bike, this is the way many fully blown drag cars are setup to run 4.5sec quarter miles. Pulleys H8RRA and i are in the process of sorting out some CNC machined pulleys for the VR, let one of us know if this is of interest to you. Chris
  21. Been down to the docs today, need to go back on tuesday. I was sure that with so many people on here that there must be a couple of people with similar conditions but it seems you are just a bunch of healthy Corrado enthusiasts! and good for you! NickVR6, There's nothing you can't find on the internet(Quote:Fast & Furious) but medical things are a bit of a hobby for me, always been interested in this type of thing and find it fascinating. I'm sure you are good in your field of interest too! Been learning about Alpha and Beta receptors today as i'm on Beta blockers and boring Chris Hill and CorradoVR6-n.o.s with it  Chris
