Car vibrates majorly, off and on, wierd I know.... G60
Chris VR6nos replied to potatonet's topic in Engine Bay
The shame is that the gearbox is a mare to change so it's a labouor of love. I'd definatelly change the clutch componants while your on. Chris -
Erratic idle, stalling and the odd kangaroo (vr6).

All what have been mentioned can cause problems but you need to understand what the codes mean before further guess work really. If the MAF or Lambda were acting up i'd expect all the plugs to be the same condition, other thoughts are the injectors may be fouled to varying degrees on each one or the kcock sensors are doing funny things which leads to late burn retarding and giving black plugs but you would notice one bank black and the other bank different-ish in colour. Like i say though it's all guess work, that's what VAG-COM's there for. Chris -
Let us know what you end up doing then! Chris

thate's always one hiding, you should be able to see where it's roughly at by gentle flexing the wing away and see where it's fixed. I'm guessing you are on an air base? Chris
-
Probably not but it's worth giving it a clean, i've never found any difference by cleaning it but you may do if it's fouled up, check all the couplings and vacuum pipes for splits and air leaks howver supect as this is likely to effect your problem. Keep us up to date on the progress and results though. Chris
-
Just a matter of trust but i'm pleased you have one, is it running and if so what's the noticable result? I like things like this and wonder what the differences would be if it was done to a VR crank! Let us know how it goes. Chris

I've been doing some reading up on the various engines and founf the W8 to be the worst. Worst for vibration and worst for modifying but you will get a 4litre 8cyl engine so might be worth it. This website offered interesting reading on the VR6, W8, W10 and W16 Clicky Chris

I'm confused, where is the other pic of the spring etc? That is the PCV valve, well it's not a valve really and the connector connects to nothing, it's magic! Just put it back and forget about it, the ISV is a metal(Alloy) item and sits on the passenger side of the throttle cable and has an inlet and an outlet and an electrical connection at the back of it. Chris

So just get it off, if it snaps it's no biggy! Chris
-
Surely you have pics of yours then? As we won't believe you unless you post them! Chris
-
Good help from Cheese Toaster there! Chris
-
That's not a knife edged crank, it's a lightened crank, this is a knife edged crank! Chris
-
That V24 is a monster! Chris

No one's saying make it look like a spiders web and anyone capable of carrying out such work would do it to a safe specification i woul d have thought. Kev, what the hel is that heap of crank out of? a cement mixer? Chris
-
So it's probably you getting stuffed up the arse next then? Chris

Yip well that's fine but you'll have to speak to one of Ghandi's mates and get 'em to split it. You need to get hold of ATB and arrange a visit, he's off all this week so that would have been the best, let me know. Chris

Ah but no chargerness to muse over!! You'll just have to find some chargerness near you an get taken for a run out. Then you can eat such mens burgers! (no pun intended i should add!) Chris

H8RRA- a 'mate' snaps your bottom chain-what do you do?
Chris VR6nos replied to H8RRA's topic in Members Gallery
Not sure if it will happen but would like to think it could, should be fun if it does happen but that's all up to H8RRA. Chris -
I'm not sure you are allowed that kind of burger yet, you need 2 more cylinders mate! I have a sunburned neck and right arm! I need to have a go at giving your car some beans shortly Kev! Chris P.s. Wires, i think you should split these posts and stick them into the SVR thread.

Vortech powers the supercharged VR6, This is what powers superchatged VR6 owners! The pics don't do the size of the burgers justice and they were especially tastey made from Aberdeen Angus beef and by they were fulling and gorgeous! Wires can put his grub away mind, and all washed down with a couple of Stellas, really hot day and my MFA showed 36C on the motorway, a good day! Chirs

Yip you could do that but just as easy and more practical to listen to see if it works by having the bonnet up and standing by it but either way i guess. Chris
-
Sounds like a bit of a chew on and could easilly bring you to a sticky end with the tyres mashing the arches and issues here and there, only undertake it if you're prepared to do all this, bit of a risk isn't it? Chris

I'm sure we could manage to make it a VR40. Chris -
Gaz, there's a lovely little trick that helps when you have rattly followers becaure of neglect, you run the rngine up to temp until the fan cuts in then you hold the revs at 2000for a minute then 3000 for 1 minute or just 3000 for 1 minute, can't remember exactly, H8RRA has the little white/blue engine manual and it's a gem for engine info like that and it worke excellently. I'll find out and let you know. Share the wealth of knowledge! Chris

Er.....they do if they are a dizzy model, you may have a coilpack but i have a dizzy! Chris
