Did anyone see me towing a black VR on 18's on a trailer about 3weeks ago? Was driving up from Cambs to the northeast towing it with a silver Avensis. Chris

I have always used Optimax but James goes on about it a lot! so maybe there is something there however, how can something that is 97ron be any better than a 98.6ron that Optimax is? Chris

So has anyone got a foolproof way of getting the glass out without breaking it? First there was the infinarely variable wiper delay now it's heated mirrors when the rear demister is on :? I know mine has the heater element on then but have only noticed them clear ocassionally but have never made the connection with having the demister on! I'll have to investigate. Chris

THis could develop into something very interesting as i am planning to use a charge cooler on my VR as an intercooler is not an option because of the attitude of the charger outlet. Some good pics would be intresting! Chris

Depends upon the driver, it's not slow but you get used to it and it becomes normal but it's not blinding. Not to go on about things but there are some posts about my escapades on here, sure you can find them if you want. Chris

The last note has never been so true "At the end of the day, it would be boring if everyone had the same opinions." Where do I start? I like the idea of you risking it to come & post on here! not wanting to get caught, and then writing a huge post. LOL Grasp the Thistle! I live in a place where there is a shell station every 5 miles or less and BP super plus in-between those and understand that some places may not be in the same position so I agree with your point of a 95 map being the better prospective option in your cases though from my point of view I'd feel cheated. The VR6's ecu operates with fuzzy logic which has a learning time from an ECU reset, up until a number of minutes after when in standard form, so if it gets the 95 treatment from the point of a reset it should learn about it and set the engine the way it wants. Yes, the later cars like Golf’s etc have a 512k 3D matrix map on their 28pin EPROM and have the ability to run all 6 cylinders at a different amount of degrees of advance at any one time, but so do the CDI Corrado VR6's thus far, I would have std Optimax or super 97 whichever is the most frequently used and be mapped at that because as we know and you said, "it can't advance the timing, just retard it" so my point was, why set it at 6degrees advance for 95ron so it can't advance enough to make ANY use of 98ron if it were to be used, limiting it to EVER being able to have any advantage from 98ron ever again? 98ron may have been happy at 10 degrees advance and we-hey! off it goes but by your advice you have forever limited the car to be mediocre This is what forums are for, and this is a good one, i'm sure you are right and i agree with you that there is a lot of twaddle on the net but we all confer communally to keep each other right, so i always stand to be corrected however as it is my prerogative to choose my thoughts, i can say that the advise was maybe not the best IMHO. Ess Three, I think you need to stop drinking so much coffee! It's good to be passionate but chill mate, you type with such agression that you're missing keys! After reading the posts I have to dissagree with the advise ess three gave about R/R-ing with 95ron, like he says, "it makes no difference" so why advise that? Setting on 98ron means it is right, no argument, read the filler flap! If there was a change to 95ron the ecu could set the timing back with the info from the knock sensors etc but if set to 95ron the setup could never make use of the 98.6ron Optimax, so i ask you, what's the point putting it on the rollers in that situation unless he were ONLY to use 95ron?(point accepted about runnung quality) AND has he then waisted his money to some degree? Chris

PhatVR6, tell us what difference the turn2 pulley made? and 7200rpm, the rev counter could be out! kevhaywire, At this time of the year it'd be a good thing to have a bit heat in the T/B but brings me to a though, mine gets burning hot with the hot supercharged air! think i'll try bypassing it as mine will heat up regardless! ;-) Chris

What fluid do you guys use to top up your power steering?
Chris VR6nos replied to jedi-knight83's topic in Suppliers Forum
Well jedi-knight83, your dad may know what he is on about but the corrado aswell as some other VAG models do have a specific requirement as some cars use mineral fluid and some use synthetic stuff, mix them up and you will notice a difference, sometimes straight away, sometimes after a while, this is why people say seals rot, it's because of the wrong fluid. Be sure I know what you are thinking as i thought the same,"It'll be alright, it's all the same" I did think this too, the thing you'll notice is the pump will whine and be noisy, mine is dead quiet but i drained the fluid out at one point and refilled it with the only fluid i could find at the time and did the pump complain! noisy or what! I drained it then ran it and turned the steering from lock to lock then switched off so not to damage the pump by running it dry and refilled it with "the green stuff" which was only £6 a litre from the dealer, once the bubbles, which took a long time to go, along with the froth, the pump was reassuringly smooth and quiet again aargh! relief. I learned this recently, you can get the h/light reflectors re-chromed! Chris -
Have you seen Oichan's spec list, it's very comprehensive, and the money that's been spent, could have went out and bought a Porsche 911. Nice though and makes me want to overbraid my hoses. Chris
