  1. It's nice to be mentioned from time to time! As andy says 'Use the search' There are a number of pics of my lifters and how they are fitted in my members gallery unless they have been deleted somewhere along the line. If these aren't sufficiant then Guy, just for you i'll take some more, poss when i'm at yours i'll do it for you or help out at least, just be sure to drill through at least half of the spot weld so it has strong metal to tap into. Give me a ring later if ya want. Chris
  2. I use a lot of night-nurse! I miss all the good parties Chris
  3. Well Chris you only have to ask and i'll replace the water pump and belt for you. Just get the parts Chris

I stand to be corrected here, didn't the blokes at DSP who did the C roadster start doing this project last year or was it some German company? There was rumblings about it and i think it's been done. Chris
  5. I can't believe the long comprehensive post i spent ages typing has not been posted because the server had issues with the MySQL database so i'll vent my thoughts and experience when i like computers again  Chris
  6. You can get 6 brand new injectors at what ever flow rate you want for £300 inc vat aswell IIRC I've taken heap loads of injectors out, swaped, replaced, cleaned, tested and all sorts. Its a doddle, the hardest part is getting the access to some of the bolts to get the manifold off and as for the dangers of petrol, disconnect the battery and the worst that can happen is if it squirts in your eye or you drink it lol If you take more than an hour to get them all out you are being too careful. I think the C injectors are 14~16ohms impedance but if there's a problem you are as well getting new ones if budget allows as they do wear (windage) and this effects the spray pattern and volume, these are only slight differences TBH but it depends how critical you are being. HTH Chris
  7. Trebor, Do you mean a turbo or charger will make your engine let go? Just to offer feedback, mine's been chrged for a couple of years now and i've done 160+ a number of times and raced around like no ones business and all i did was change a head garket but not because it had gone but as maintenance and to inspect the bores which were like mirrors with no lip or scores so i think correctly setup these mods offer more torque and power lower down the rev range and as we know, the majority of wear if impacted at hi revs so i'd say if you want to go fast, get a charger/turbo/nitrous and maintain your car and it won't let go any more that a std C. Chris
  8. On the topic of ceramic coatings, All my inlet pipes have been ceramic coated on the inside and the outside, I'm not sure of the advantage here but to say that they get so hot that you can't touch them, or at least the one from the vortech charger to the throttle body! I've no idea about the power or bhp of my vr but for £1800 the kit way out performes the tuned manifold option whichever you go with and that's without a r/road map although i'm sure that with this smaller pulley(thanks Guy) and a couple of other bits that the power will be on or over 300bhp with great driveability, then of course there's the nitrous, i've never been stunned by the VSR or VGI especially for the price and remap faff, it just doesn't make all that much sense apart from that they look good and more so when polished. Chris
  9. I know David whom ran it with him, he was up here in South Shields at Christmas i'm suposed to be joining the Bullrun this year in April as part of the crew in the USA so if that all pans out it should be fun. Max and David had a bit of a dissagreement last year so kinda went thier seperate ways. Anyone could have gone on the Gumball or Bullrun last year from London to Ibiza but for the hefty entry fee and the supporting cost and license risk. Non of us are really wealthy enough to do it without worry, and that's what it's all about. The Guy who works for the Ascari rece way earns £14,000 per week and has little money worries, hence participates in the Bullrum and previously the Gumball3000 I got a phone call at 9:05am a few months back from David(Bullrun) telling me to get down to london in my Skyline for 12noon for the launch party for the London-Ibiza run. Sadly it was too short notice and he couldn't believe i didn't go and turn up! He was letting me do it free of charge instead of the £7000 entry fee i think it was but i just couldn't have made it and had no cloths or anything with me and i was in Newcastle at the time. Chris
  10. Isn't that why ppl go for chargers instead! Seems a lot of money, who you been talking to? My Vortech kit cost just over half that brand new from VF-engineering(NSRacing) Chris
  11. It's true! I heard about these Cats Eye Cameras some time ago and i now read that they are being trialed in Motherwell in Scotland and in Hampshire! The camera is just 130mm in diameter, and can protrude from the surface by just 5mm; and it is linked to a computer that can read and decode number plates written in both italic and cursive scripts. But you can bet your bottom dollar that they'll be used against the easy targeted road user to generate revenue! Chris
  12. Just been reading through this thread, Thanks ChrisHill for the bigup! I posted earlier about Skylines not being all that because out of the 5 i own and they are mainly all modded, my VR beats them all, on low speed sprints and 80mph+ thrashes up in to the 160's mine is faster which surprised me! Chris
  13. It's all a myth. I have 5 of them and they aren't that mad at all just good fun. Need to spend rediculous £££ to make them that fast but VR's can be made silly quick with that kind of cash too! Chris
  14. Agree with the above. 75bhp seems to be the advised maximum for single shot injection though James, me and Paul have all ran 100bhp nos with no probs for years. Above this you need to use a progressive controller and retard your ignition 2-4degrees! Chris
  15. Hi guys, I've had for some time now the Vortech V9fsq charger from VF-engineering on my VR6. The map is for the american market and works quite well over here but not that well. The fact is that we have a much lower air temp and humidity over here in the UK. The 91RON in the USA is SAE which is equivalent to our 95ron measured in ISO but Optimax is 98.6ron ISO and with our denser air a custom remap can yeild 40+bhp more than the supplied chip with no other mods!. Chris
  16. Supercharging the VR is a great mod Chris
  17. Tee-Hee I have that kit on my VR, stage 1 costs £2500 plus £500 fitting and runs at 6psi but can go to 23psi, this over feeds the VR6 with positive pressure so i think it would give a bit too much to the 1.8 engine unless you put a bigger pulley on to lower the gear ratio but what's the point, it's a VR charger! Chris
  18. Pretty good run down Kev! The chains are no real great deal, it's all down to if you can do it yourself. I've done a couple now and each went fine with no complications, it's not too much more than changing the clutch effort with a few more cups of tea thrown in! I changed a front mount on my VR for a VF-engineering one and it is quiet and keeps the enging where it should be, as for the rear gearbox mount, i changed one on my 'H' plate 16v and it was a fluid one with gungy brown oil running out of it as was the one off my 'K' reg VR so as for only being on very late C's, that's not true. Kev, if yours is solid, all i can say is that your lass must be very happy  Chris
  19. I think you all need to go get a VR and find out some home truths! chrishill, when you coming out for a spin in mine? I was doing over 150mph last night still with plenty to go  Cheers Chris
  20. This is my Honda DelSol SiR Vtec TransTop, bit of a mouthfull i know! This car is a 91 model so it's getting old but looks about 3-4years old in truth, and has 56K miles on the clock, i'm selling it for £5950ono, just gone through MoT on Saturday and got 6mth tax, what a bargain! And the roof is all electric and works spot on. Chris
  21. iandavidcassidy, Without hearing noises it's hard to tell anything but on the rust topoic, yes this is exactly what happens, the rust on the face of the disc will polish off each time you drive it again but everythinng else gets rusty i'm sorry to say. Nice discs though. HTH Chris
  22. BBR have done lots of things and for the longest time, when i was young (I'm 36) they were the guys doing mad power with the cosworths etc and were notorious for thier endevours. Chris
  23. Funny, liked it, well written. I've sent the link to some friends lol Chris
  24. Here's a URL for the manufacturers: http://www.vortechsuperchargers.com/welcome/ Here's the ppl that put the kit together for VW's as well as others: http://vf-engineering.com/vw_index.htm This is where i got mine from: http://www.nsracing.com/ HTH Chris
  25. I shouldn't laugh  The car is in very good condition and the amount of dots is unbelievable, there is less than an inch between most of them over the whole of the car!, i picked a few off with Paul but on Saturday the the anguish welled up and he went and got wifey out and gave her those condom type gloves ('cos he cares!) and set her away with a tin of thinners, a cloth and some water, seems to have worked, but a major pain in the ass! Good one Paul!   Chris
