Hi guys, Just a note on flywheels, i'm guessing that you are talking about the machined down std f/wheel? The reduction in weight is an advantage for many reasons as mentioned but if you are going to do it, do it right, get a billet alloy machined flywheel and you'll not risk the machined std item fracturing and letting go, making a lovely mess of all it contacts. I'll attach a picture of my 5lb in weight flywheel which cost £290. You get what you pay for, incidentally the ridgeway ones are 6lb in weight i believe but all are sexy in a nice anodized finish. Map reading! looks like he's off the map! I remember MY first E too! ;-) Chris

The dash lights look nice but how bright is the blue at night? are the led displays hard to read in the red light? Is it all ultra bright LEDs? Chris

turn everything off, interior lights clip the front of the stereo etc, then take the neg lead off the battery and use a multimeter between the lead & the battery to check the current draw, it should be very minimal. eg: clock, stereo memory alarm etc, should be milliamps not amps, the lower the figure the better, ask the garage to do this for you, make sure the fan won't come on! Maximillion cooper and his best mate David are having thier Gumball Rally in Europe this year, even they won't hold an event in UK because the police have different powers than say in the USA or Europe and you get flashed too easy and get points which in other countries it's more likely to be just a fine, so the idea is fun but the practicality is not so, plus we aren't millionaires! We want to keep driving our beloved Corrado's. Comments lads?????? For/Against Chris

What are ppl anticipating? Lets have some guesses then see how close you all were, that will be interesting. Chris

Looking sassy! Chris

Shall be interesting for sure, look forward to the findings! Chris

17's, no compromise! The handling is better and the breaking 'cos they produce a larger footprint however you will loose a little acceleration but everything else makes up for it! Chris
-
Mike, love the look of your car mate, need to see some good pics of it. Chris

good one lads, however i like the way the centrifugal ones work, they have to make more power than the scroll type, have people tryed a centrifugal charger on the 4cly G60 engine? i recon if money allowed they would produce a mean output in comparrison? anyone got info on this? Good thread, nice to see there is always someone with the info! Chris

Hmnn.....dodgy piece of kit that 'G' thing! My centrifugal charger is more like a turbo though, what effect does the moving scroll have? does it aid in compressing the air mass? Is the oscilating scroll speed relative to crank speed? Never really conversed about the G-lader item but i'm interested more now! Keep it coming lads, good graphic Joe. Here is a pic of my charger, you can see the impeller straight on, with the centrifugal compressor chamber curling around it. Cheers Chris

My VR get 360miles to 40quid generally but get nearer 380-400with more motorway use and that's with a charger on the VR too. Optimax rules! 'Wideband' refers to the amount of difference the sensor registers, the standard one will measure +1.5 to -1.5 volts but a wideband sensor will show +3.5 to -3.5v, this is useful when you have quite a modified engine as there will be greater amounts of fuel chucked in and this may take the standard sensor outside of it's range. Chris

Not fair Kev, and you know it! I have chicken wire on the front of my VR and it's great! Chris
-
The scrolls open & close Nigel????? They are cast alloy and apart from them breaking or snapping off, which they often do, how do they move? Apart from that i'd agree with you. It is a centrifugal charger, same as a turbo, just not driven by the exhaust. Chris

I think Guy and me are the only two with the new Vortech chargers on VR6s in the UK! so the UK distributor tells us! Chris

I have just over 150,000miles and still on the first head gasket! Chris

CCGB National Day Pictures & Chat! [56k Beware!]
Chris VR6nos replied to Jim's topic in General Car Chat
Splendid! Cheers for posting the pics, i was gutten i couldn't go, would like to think i will go to the next big one with that many Corrados! Chris -
It's not as mad as people think, if you have ever been on a two stroke motorbike and hit the power band, it's quite like that depending on how big a jets you're using! Through the revs it's smooth right up to the red line with no flat spots. The advantage is that the engine acts & runs as standard when off gas. I've never been on a track with it, just been a bit naughty on the road! no harm done. Chris

My mate had a 320 Merc and it could out accelerate my VR6 which had an above average VR performance, so i fitted a Vortech supercharger and nitrous. Nuff said! Why do people buy those little 1.8L 8v G60s when there are lots or VRs about for sale, then they can have a propper car! :-D Chris
-
MacLaren? Hmnnn......Wonder which i'd preferre! My VR6 is consevatively at about 300bhp with basic mods of a Vortech V9fSQ charger and 40-50bhp of nitrous, i'll put the 75bhp jets back in as the set-up takes the current amout of nitrous effortlessly. The EIP Tuning VR6 produces 680bhp at the wheels, i've seen the dyno graph. There is lots more to be done to my VR, i have an ultra light flywheel to fit which will give a faster rev response. Chris

Are you creating trouble again Barney! Chris
-
I'll second that! I have had my nitrous kit on my VR6 for a couple of years now with no problems and my C has a little over 150,000miles on the clock, have you read my thread about my C doing 165mph? The previous statements could be true but ONLY if the system has NOT been fitted or set-up properly! I am testement to that and so are the people that I have supplied or fitted kits for, and if nitrous oxide was that unreliable no company could stay in business by selling the kits! There are a lot of missconceptions about nitrous but the Wizard of Nos site explains a lot of them! By the way, the power in no measure is derived from the nitrous oxide it's self! The power is produced from the extra fuel that is injected i at the same time from another solenoid, the nitrous oxide splits on combustion into nitrogen and oxygen, the prior serves to densify the existing volume of air in the cylinder and the later is purely an oxygen supply to burn the extra fuel efficiently with a stoichiometric A/F ratio of between 12 and 14:1. If you don't know what i am talking about then you shouldn't fit nitrous to your car yourself and go swapping jets willy-nilly and hope it'll work and be ok and give you lots of power! CorradoVR6-n.o.s is right in what he said and knows what he is talking about. There are a lot of people that know about these things but an awfull lot more that don't, that's what makes forums so great as there will always be someone with more info or experience on hand to offer info or a solution! My two-penneth worth. Cheers Chris

I fitted a good strut brace to a friends Storm and we had a conversation about what was expected, I thought there could be no real noticable difference but once fitted we went down the road and I have to hold my hands up and say that the difference in rigidity was obvious and very noticable on the corners but one draw back! There was a new twisty creak! The stiffness the brace gave has meant that the roof lining or something up there has come to creak because of the transferred loads! Hey you can't win all ways but it did do what it said on the packet! Rear strut brace from Eurotek i think was £88 all in and looks the buisness! I'll try to get a pic and post it on here. Chris

This hard to believe but true! I'm with Admiral and maybe it's because of the area i'm in but they have grouped my VR as a group 21! i was always only aware that it went to group 20. Chris
