  1. Not hard just fiddly, mine was a pain in the ass, more faffy than anything, then had an odd time trying to bleed the thing, the pedal was stuck down to the floor but iff you lifted it up it sprung to the top  I thought 'what the hell's going on?' This made it nigh on impossible to bleed, very frustrating, and it's a mare getting the reservoir off, be carefull with the fluid 'cos it'll slatter all over unless you're very careful & strong. Hope you have an easier time than I. Chris
  2. g60bv, The 'Vortech' units have the longest service intivals of any chargers and to date i've not heard of any going bang like the G-Lader ones like to do plus they can easily produce 23-40psi, read the literature thats available on the Vortech site or on numerous drag racing sites in America. My Vortech charger looks sexier & shinier than any black cast Eaton screw charger. Though I am biased :-D Chris
  3. dr_mat, the splines are only a few quid from Halfords and i have 3kits with the same size spline supplied in each, it's a common size spline, how are you having trouble finding one? There is a slightley different angle at the throttle body, this won't really make much difference to you unless you have a supercharger! Set an hour or so to one side Tom & you'll be fine, it's very easy & self explanatory and only requires basic tools and a spline kit. Chris
  4. New axle!!! It's just not that bad to do! 2 metalastic bushes, they come out easily with the bush puller and an air gun & go in just the same, no effort other than pulling the trigger. Changing the whole axle is the same effort as doing the bushes, put the effort in and use WD40, get a couple of entheusiastic mates round to help 'cos it's heavy to shove around when under the car, a pack of Fosters and a radio & off you go, money saved & know more about your baby. The tool can be hired or bought from Halfords for £20 or there abouts, don't need an air gun, just wind them out with a ratchet, takes a bit longer but easy enough. It might be a bit of a chew but worth saving the £200 labour bill for a couple of hours toil. If yours is straight & the bearings don't rumble etc, just change yours unless you like playing in scrap yards, what if you have to take it off the Passat aswell ! ! ! Then the extra cost! Just my suggestion, best of luck! I've just bought the Powerflex bush kit for all the car so i'm having to do the same job, it's fun, that's how you learn. Chris
  5. Phatty, Don't let chipping your nail varnish give you the excuse not to fulfill the promises of your signature! What I did was a crash not that girly squiggle! Get the spanners out and fit that sh1t you got lying around in the garage! Jees! Hate to think what you'll do with a proper engine in(VR6), you're gonna' kill yourself!!!! Give it a cuddle & get it shiny for Inters!!! Good luck  Chris
  6. I got a call on my mobile today from Asim himself and he told me that the discount was in the region of 30% then again he did get 25 kits together, to that end, what is happening is he's going to approach the supplier with the previous order in mind and suggest doing it again at the same discount! How does that sound? Keep getting the orders in and see what happens, should turn out well! Chris
  7. Ess Three, Good explanation and balanced view, i agree with you on all the points. I've actually had a one on one with an ITR, quick off the mark, true, i believe they rev to 9k! I have an advantage of a charger & up to 80mph they do go well but by 100 then 120 he was hundreds of meters behind and started flashing me 'cos there was nothing he could do but fall further behind and i wasn't by any means caning my VR or using the nos, effortless out acceleration against the ITR, that's why i've never thought much of them either on acceleration or top end though they are a good car & would prob out handle on the twisties like you said! Love the torque the VR gives especially with the charger on  Chris
  8. CoxyLaad, I'll keep this one brief 'cos it's been asked and answered lots on here. It's a Vortech V9fsq charger from NS-Racing in Edgeware & the cost to you is £2500 supply only, i believe Stealth fit them for £500 or was it £300? not sure but i fitted it along with my friend one day and it's transformed the drive of the already good VR6. Drop me a PM if you want to know anything in more detail :) Chris
  9. You know, Transform are doing quite a good deal at the moment :) Yip, it's a VR front engine mount fron VF-engineering. Getting some powerflex bushes, full kit at the end of this week should look nice in purple! Chris
  10. New bit for my ever hungry VR. Just came this morning. Quite sexy, thought it was hard plastic(the red bit) but it's squidgy rubbery stiff :-D Chris
  11. I lived in Dunstable then in luton and worked at Formula1 autocentre :D Just thought i'd say Chris
  12. As someone said earlier, AmD's are said to be optomistic & Stealths are better calibrated & more accurate! Who's to know? Vince said he could get Jeff over to do the job as he did for Guy's VR, don't know what to do for the best :? Chris
  13. The MKIII ones like mine need drilling to the bonnet but bolt into the hole in the wing that one of the bolts is in already that holds the wing on. I believe the bonrath lifter is a single item and seems to be intrusive as the origional prop does, i want to know where the "lifters" fit & other ppl are wondering what they have to do to fit them if they are two or is it one? do you drill? if not, then where do they locate???? JasonSanders, over to you. Chris
  14. Have a look what the golf mag is featuring next month! Woo-Hoo!!! http://www.thegolf.co.uk/content/next.htm Who said they were going to branch out & feature other VAG cars? Chris
  15. But that's more than a quarter of your power gone and heading toward a whole third!!! Up to date technology? I don't think so! Ford made a very low friction, low loss gearbox some time back out of nylon! It didn't need oil as it had such low friction but the materials of the time didn't lend themselves to the longevity of the gearbox, who's to know what's to come. NASA is looking into free lift from wing tip vortecies so the plains behind can fly in formation using half the fuel thus doubling it's range almost! It's all out there! Chris
  16. kevhaywire, It was using Stealths rollers but Jeff from AmD was doing it! Charged VRs don't like piggyback eproms so much and the job would be to use a straight eprom on to the board. Chris
  17. This is getting good! Chris

    Read the Aquamist site Chris
  19. Stick your thumb over the end of a bike pump & pump it, the air inside the pump gets very hot, this is the same effect as what happens with a turbo or charger, basically compresses the air making it very hot thus needing cooling hense cold water injection. Normally aspirated engines don't have anything to compress the air so no need for cooling as the air entering the engine remains at the same temp as when it was sucked in. Ultimately it's all down to volumetric efficiancy, this is the only reason to adjust the inlet temps. Chris
  20. New pack of Polyflex bushes ordered from Stealth! Plus VF-engineering front mount ordered. Getting painted when other bits done. But still good for over 155K miles Chris
  21. Let's see some kit sorted for the charged VRs with a guide price, you mentioned about a vr kit to me before and although there are not many charged VRs yet, they are growing! They are available on the Vortech site already, take a look & poss develope a similar kit cheaper than them there yanks :-D Chris
  22. I think shooting a paintball gun is the funniest, if you hit them they think they've been shot for real, saw it on a yank movie, was a giggle, they still got done off the plod though. Chris
  23. Not funny that there AMD price thing as i need one when i put a smaller pulley on :-( Thing is Vince said take about £500 with me for the re-map at his place(Stealth) Chris
  24. Yes they are MKIII ones but easy to fit and they work. Simple. I'm interested in the ones suited for the Corrado though, where are any pics and where or how do ther fit, you can't expect anyone to go for a set & part with money without those basic pionts being illustrated & satisfied, else they may aswell go & get the MKIII Golf ones 'cos they work aswell. Chris
