I had an eventfull night last night out down a local gathering place called spillers. There were a few nice cars there and some of them you would think twice about racing. The challenge was to race a Impreza WRX STi. I expected to get beaten as you can never tell what has been done to these things. So off we go from the line and as expected, off he shoots as i do my best to keep traction in the first 3 gears! just a little spin in each gear on the change trying not to loose it all. Surprisingly 3rd gear showed it's colours and i pulled all of his lead back and passed him half way down the run! There was not the world of difference between us however my little C did the business! Then....... On the way home a lad called Wayne in his MR2 turbo(import) went against me and earlier he told me that his could beat the scooby that i had raced down Spillers. From Team-Valley (where there is always a cruise on a Saturday night) to Sunderland we went down the Washington dual carriage-way and booted it. We were pretty much door handle to door handle as the speed crept up, and up. We were at 120mph and i had to break to let the MR2 in to my lane to get past a car going 70mph, once past, floored it again and both to the floor it was a fair race. He is on 1bar boost and I am only using a weedy 6psi and no nitrous. The road is long and straight so there was nothing to stop us but i didn't like looking at the speedo at those speeds but needed to know what we were doing. At 150mph and still side by side I began to think twice about the potential concequences. Never the less i had to stick with it and hold my end up against him. The climax was that I passed the MR2 showing 165mph on my speedo!!! I was somehow still accelerating but had passed him and the race was won! We slowed to a stop at the end of the road and put our thumbs up, both happy and surprised with the performance and went our own ways home. So how fast is your car and what have you challenged and won?? VR power! with a little help from Vortech. Corrado meeting 9pm Sun night @ Team-Valley Chris

Great pics, enjoyed looking at all of them and with no probs loading with ADSL, peace! Chris -
AAIGHT, are you a G60? Put more detail in your profile, make good reading. What's the special bits on a 4motion to make it worth putting in a C? Chris
-
James, Was he at the Arni that night? If so, has he ever been there again in your absence does anyone know? Chris

Miami!!! Hi mate, the mods don't really make any difference to the running of the car! Sounds wrong? well think about it, VR's have a 2.9ltr engine and they run smooth as anything, yes i know it has 6 cyls but don't worry about that. The things that mostly change the driving character of the car are the cams, go for wild ones and you expect lumpy lick over and a power band coming in high up the rev range. Be sensible with your choice and go for torque first. Higher compression with forged pistons even at 2.2ltr will only serve to make the engine more efficiant and reliable as long as the ECU has a corrected map in it. Normally aspirated. Forced induction option will mean you could run higher pressures reliably and with the correct map should run smooth and seemlessly You mentioned vibration, if the job has been done right the components should have been ballanced and the whole engine should really be smoother than the origional setup, however, if running significantly higher compression there may be a more agressive combustion process but this is not really of consequence and won't cause any discomfort. Wear & tear mainly happens around start-up, when cold and with poor oil, take care in these areas as you should with your standard engine and things will go for a long time with no trouble, use good quality products and good oil, don't forget to use a new or uprated oil pump to supply high pressure oil to the shell bearings that will be loaded higher from the higher compression ratio. Standard stuff really, just my thoughts, hope this supports what you thought. Let us know how you get on and what you decide. You mention a 6speed box in your signature, which box is this? Cheers Chris

Looks fun that meter! Chris

Curious to hear where people get thier info from as there is always a lot of urban rumours on the what's and where for's regarding things. I aproached a local tinting company and one would think that they would have to know thier legel requirement as pertaining to thier job and service they provide! They told me that the 20% grade is legal and this referres to the light transmission into the car and has no bearing to what is transmitted from inside the car to the outside as your eyes are inside the car and this is where the light needs to get to. The 'Limo' tine is a 5% grade and this can be applied to all windows apart from front screen and front doors. Chris

Mark, it's my everyday car again now, just have no cash to go tootling down to Bish of an evening these days but sure to see you soon. There are more pics on here somewhere of my car with some bent bits and some with the charger i'm sure you'll have seen Chris

Anytime James, just don't make a habit of it! Chris

Firstly, Hi to Mark, nice to see you have found us mate! Secondly, Corrado's can't fly, however James did make his leave the ground and the marks on the road are there to prove it. Nice one Jai. Here's what a Clio 172cup pushed him at 120mph on approach to a roundabout to do to his pride and joy! Have you stopped crying yet James? Does anyone want to see some nice pice of the offended article? Then here you are: Nice Chris

A20 LEE, Can you give me some info on what strut brace you have there, price and model, as i have never seen one specified for the VR6. Chris
-
Get it sorted, then get a Nitrous kit! £6oo and all your woes are over! PM me for more delails if you become interested in this! Chris

Low-G, 14.24 secs if you are quoting the PVW figures were not the whole story, Did I see you there? I couldn't find any Optimax down there and the car was Dyno'd at Jabba Sport on 98octane fuel so the 95ron made it pink it's tits off, and the best run that wasn't published correctly was 12.97sec! Plus I did 170mph in 6th on the way home! with a whitness. The car now belongs to Andy 'C6 SVR' and he's very happy with the performance. Low-G, were you there? 'cos you say you 'saw' the supercharged VR6. Big cheap power comes from Nitrous, 'Nuff said. My supercharged VR6 breaks traction and spins in 3rd gear on a dry road with 17's on and 45-50bhp nitrous in a single shot, i'll put the 75bhp jets in shortly to take me well over 300bhp, sweet! Golfs are easy meat! aswell as STi's (that's a desease isn't it?)

Supercharge your VR6, look inside for details
Chris VR6nos replied to Chris VR6nos's topic in Engine Bay
awesomerallye, Turbo's are great and easier to get higher power but much dearer to purchaes in the first place. I'm nearing 300bhp at the moment and occasionally spin in 3rd at 70mph in the dry! Plenty more power to come! just got some 100bhp jets for the Nitrous kit! Chris -
check out these new lexus style lights

Pau1, If that's your car in your avatar, It's a stunning example from the little pic! Chris -
I am lead to believe that the Leon 6speed box does fit along with the 320mm discs and 4pot Brembo's! Can't comment on any other work needed to fit the above stuff but keep us informed VR6-er Chris

Hsa anyone got the lead that goes from tha laptop to the carrado socket? Would it be possible to copy it and make a lead up? Could i get the pin out for the serial etc from anyone? I have VAGcom software, my C is OBD1. Chris

Hi all, Just thought i'd put my tuppence in. It's amazing reading all the claims and interesting too. I've had a couple of races lately with some success. WRX Scooby-0 VR6-1 But it took me 'til 100 to get past him GTiR-0 VR6-1 Took 'til 120 to get past him, fast little things! Clio 172-0 VR6-1 He booted it from beside me so I followed and at 100mph, I indicated and accelerated past him. Priceless! He put his thumb up at me so It was all in good spirits. Cossie saph-1 VR6-0 This grey thing was running 400bhp unbeknown to me at the time. Golf Syncro G60-0 VR6-1 Syncro dyno'd at 240bhp he said, he had the edge in 1st & 2nd but i pulled past him from 3rd convincingly, he was surprised that we were so level from launch. There you go and that was without the nitrous. Chris

OK, so how do you know if your ISV is leaky then? Is is a G60 thing or would I make use of it on my set-up? Thanks Chris

and that's with Scottish air! :-)

can this http://www.ridgewayracing.com/giro1.jpg be expiained to me a little more in depth about what it does and the advantage? Chris
-
do you know how to set the pulley? or know someone that does? It's easy to do but hard to get right especially if you've never done it before! I watch with interest. Chris

A re-map is not what neccessarily gains more bhp as is proven by many, however most people do say it improves power throught the rev range and more torque in mid range which is the most impressive, so drivability is the main goal. Comments: agree/disagree? Chris
-
Fill him with confidence Henny why don't you! My engine seaps oil from the h/gasket and it is suggested that at 100,000miles that you back off and re-torque the head as the gasket won't still be as clamped at this mileage, still I ran 75bhp of nitrous for a year and a half and run a vortech supercharger without any probs so don't flap un-neccessarily! Chris P.s. mine has 145,000miles and eating more each day!

I spoke to tha guy that owns Ridgeway and he seems very enthusiastic and will listen as much as talk! A good thing. His prices aren't bad either compared to some other suppliers, but he is a manufacturer too so can control the price. Chris
