  1. Man, Those sort of pics need a warning. That is bad luck fella. Feel for you.
  2. Really. Can it be done without removing the dash? Is there a how 2 for that?
  3. My Vr sounds a bit Whiney on a cold startup. and the reve also jump up on first start then settle. I dont know if that sets your mind at rest or is a case of missery loves company.
  4. Once it is on its way. it is just a matter of time. the coolant system on a VW runs very hot and under specific pressure. I would expect the radweld to work for about, Oooh 5 minutes, and then it will find its way into your footwells. Then you have even more nasty chemicals to clean of your carpets. My advice is get it done before it goes properly. because when it does it can be dangerous and painful. and if that happened to be on a motorway then it could be a disaster waiting to happen. I was lucky that when mine went it was a hot day and the windows were already down.
  5. Well I think the choice in colour is to show recognition to the origonal Mk1 Rocco which came out in ths colour way back in year dot. Im liking it and the shot from beind looks like few other cars on the road. The origonal Mk1 rocco was squarely based on the Mk1 chassis and this one is as close as dammit to the same as a golf chassis. Also the blame for cars all looking the same lies squarely with the consumer. These cars are what the public want. round, safe and economical. few car manufacturers have the strength over their market to dictate what sort of cars they will be selling. it has to be the other way around, If VW started to make the kind of cars we as Rado drivers would want then they may be out of business faster than you can say Rover.
  6. i use this web site to check my cheapest local pit stop.
  7. Hey Johnathan, is that your monster G60 lurking in the readers rides of PVW? the issue with Sam at the Phirm's cream Mk3 on the cover. If so, Nice one bud. Was good to see it rolling at the Surrey rolling road day. :D
  8. morpheus20170, were the previous answers to this same question not good enough? There are hundreds of opinions out there about brakes. have a looky through the search.

    Squeaky

Stick some Mollyslip in the gear oil. Luverly teflonny stuff. May quieten it down a touch.
  10. My local guy does em for about 80 quid, plus whatever he finds wrong. Id trust him with any dub. He is an ex dub mechanic who left to do his own thing and is in the process of putting together a Mk1 trqck day car. Top bloke.
  11. Without sounding like a car snob. what can you really expect from a car that costs a grand. If things do go wrong then the saving you have made on the car in the first place should be enough to sort it. I would be wary buying a valver for a grand, let alone a 3 litre V6.
  12. depends what sort of work has been done. At 200k I would expect the timing chains and clutch to have been done. If not I would probably walk away but that is just because I dont know how to do it myself. Also depends on the price they they are looking for, Gut feelings, but mostly what might need to be done.

    nightmare

Thats a shite state of affairs. Jealousy and cowardice, What are the wheels tho bud. Look good from that pic.
  14. get him to read the policy document, if he is still in doubt they can do this, Phone up Tesco and say that he feels that they have acted unfairly, and as such he would like information about how he can report this to the insurance ombudsman. Should get things moving.
  15. 130 is not borderline damage. The VW handbook says that if the heat gets to 140 then stop and let it cool down. so If VW say so then I would wage a guess they have tested it properly.
  16. ??? whats the diference between walsall accent and a brummie one ???
  17. Ben man!!!!!!!!! I definatly remember asking you this weekend if you were going the way that the rest of the coupehaus boys have gone? All that work and only a 1000 miles done in it? Is it something to do with the Haldex conversion? or have you just grown tired of fettling it?
  18. I had a mate who wired his starter motor up whilst holding it, one of the funyest things ive seen. The motor jumped out of his hand with all the torque and bounced itself around the garage floor. till we unplugged it from the battery. It sounds like it is fubar if it clicks whilst conected to engine but spins on your bench. sounds like it just doesnt have enough oomph to turn over an engine. Mine went this spring. It was about 95 quid from GSF from memory, but you have to px the old one for that price.
  19. at least I made it there, Cheeky buggah    Besides, talkin to Furks, he knew nuffink about the caption comp. just wandered how an Oompah Loompah got into his car.
  20. Hmm, and i thought i had a task, by getting mine clean.
  21. My first 3 cars were all 1.1 litre and under, Much fun to be had inside the speed limit, The insurance companies all claim this is to reduce road deaths and increase safety, but Im sure that the fact that these cars are cheaper to repair and dont go as fast in the first place, mean that for their 40% price heike they are paying out less in total. Some clever spin on a mathematical problem IMO.
  22. Great idea but what about all the debris that gets swept onto the hard shoulder? And what happens when you break down?
