  1. I can quite believe that. After a rowdy wedding, I woke up in a room to be confronted by the bloke in the next bed to mine covered in blood. Turned out he'd had fisty cuffs with another wedding guest and split his head open, naturally as most of the guests were doctors, surgeons and dentists, he was told that it as fine and passed out. Ended up supergluing him back together at the brides parents house. And we're still all banned from the chichester park hotel ;)
  2. I'd definitely put a waterpump on the list, especially if you're having extensive work done anyway, the pump itself is £32 from VW, which I think is very reasonable indeed. Saves messing around in the future...
  3. That would make me sad... How many stitches??
  4. Toad.......The Fecal Fetishist?????? Hehehehehehehehehehehe Yep. Mate, you'd be welcome to my car, but there's too much rust on it right now for any self respecting young lady to use, but, the plan is to rebuild it this winter and try spraying it myself if I have time. If it's finished and clean enough I'll bring it up for you. TBH, I have offered it to someone else for a very similar purpose, and I'd like to have it sorted for them too...
  5. I did mine this weekend and removed the front of the car. Made everything so much easier to clean up. Have noticed that the combination of crackpipe and new waterpump haven't made a huge difference to the water temp (it's increased a little), but I think there is some air still trapped, despite three attempts at bleeding it, and 150 miles... What I did notie is a 4-8 degree reduction in the oil temperature, I think this is down to a better flow rate through the oild cooler as the old water pump was missing a few blades, and the new crack pipe having a larger appature (oooooeeeeeerrr)
  6. You mean right hand when in the drivers seat? What torque did you go to? I just re-did mine "tight". Can you jack the engine up slightly and reach the bolts to remove the mounting casting from the block? I'd proabably just go for a new mount, iirc there are only 2 bolts from below to remove and you can get the entire rubber mount out.
  7. There is a mark for tdc on the bottom pulley, this lines up with a mark on the timing belt cover, there is also a mark on the flywheel I believe. and there is a mark on the cam pulley, on the outside at the top, and on the inside which lines up with the top of the head when the rockercover is off.
  8. Sounds like your ignition transponder ring isn't reconnected....
  9. .. which won't work if your tester has his head screwed on cos he will know the light is supposed to come on and then go off. Get it VAG-COMed (yes the ebay leads are ok, even the old opto-isolated ones should work), and see what it says. The best way is to fix it. I have a cheap ebay usb one and it doesn't read the ABS, I know several people who have the same issue.
  10. Have you got access to a vice? Jsut press them in with that... Tom
  11. Those Wispa Gold bars were lovely... I think now is a very good time to invest in corrado ownership with some great motors around. TBH, you could quite easily afford one as a second car the way things are currently. That's what I did, and it's only costing £600/year more for me, after tax, insurance and an extra MOT/year. Well, apart from the repairs, but I am only putting half the mileage and wear on the cars...
  12. -Snigger- Yeah, I'm glad the gruvenparts parts came with them. There are about 5 or 6 in the thermostat housing alone... I hope he comes to some shows next year. The more deviants, the better....
  13. Thats the problem with internet pornography - you can have too much as Toad will testify... Yup, a confusing afternoon after a couple of pints has lead to me being banned from all horse shows in Britain :( Cool. I've got a very good belt/bearing supplier locally so Ithought I'd tap them up and see what they could get. I just paid £24 for mine :( :(
  14. I just bought a plastic bladed one from VW, £32. Gonna wack it on at the weekend to try to sort my fast rising, high water temps as soon as I hit traffic. :? Would have liked metal, but at that price, I can afford to swap it at 25,000 miles. or every other aux belt. I'm trying to source a cheaper supply of auxilliary belts too if you are interested...
  15. Don't think it is. Vag VR radiator is £150 GSF is cheaper but poooer. I bought mine from Wessex Radiators near Southampton for £99.87
  16. Bet it will feel lovely when the tracking is sorted. Can't believe the amount of work you've had to do though... :(
  17. Is your number plate set in the rear bumper then?
  18. Toad

    how much??

Mind you, remember all those stories about old men who run down pedestrians because they get confused with the pedals??? Not the way the forum should get on the news!
  19. Toad

  20. Toad

    Failed MOT

If you take the cat off, it'll fail by a larger margin sadly. The mixture is set by the ecu too, so you can't change it. :(
  21. Arse, I would need to do it this weekend then....
  22. Mine is exchange, got to weigh the old one in for £25 plus vat when I do it.

    1.8T Conversion's

Inconel alloys are used in (and were developed for) gas turbine engines too.
  24. I might have a motor by the weekend, and they're super easy to change, take the shelf below the glovebox off, unplug the motor, pull a tab down, turn it and it falls out.
  25. Depends if it is raining ROFL... That's what I thought.... Herisites got one from vw with metal blades recently though I believe? My new one is plastic bladed.
