  1. Ok. I wouldn't take that as being gospel. There's a chance that that could be wrong.
  2. Well, it shouldn't do it, but it's better than not kicking in at all. Are you sure the coolant temp is actually at 80, and it's not the coolant temp sensor that is wrong?
  3. As much as I love hooning around in my corrado and wouldn't mind a bit of a trundle around a track, there's no way I'd use one for a track car. I'd get a mk2, and fit it out with rado suspension, engine etc.
  4. Just don't run anyone over, or I'll feel bad!
  5. :) Yeah, there are several threads about it.
  6. That's a bit disappointing for you. Sorry to hear that it's stil playing you up. I'd have lost my temper by now. :(
  7. If you want to switch the ABS off permanantly, unplug a connection on the top of a strut tower, or remove the fuses, or unplug the ABS ECU. The issue could be a bent ABS rotor, or it could be a knackered ABS ECU. As Kip says, get it plugged in to VAG Com. It's probably not the best advice to be giving to unplug the ABS, especially with damp slippy roads around.
  8. I did sit and read the rules the other night, should be an interesting little series. 16v?
  9. Or just get the head gasket done? Cheaper than guffing around with engine swaps. You'll have to spend £500, but you'll have a good working car again, you'll not be able to sell the car for a great deal at the moment, and you'll know that the car is good to go once it's been fixed, if you buy something else then you might have the same issue in another few months...
  10. Get the inside of a ball ppoint pen and stick over the pin to extend it. that should stop it catching, even if it doesn't look pretty. Otherwise wack an advert up in the Wanted section on here. The knob should just screw down onto the pin, if the pin is not sticking out through the hole in the door trim, remove the trim, then wrap some cotton around it and feed it up through the hole then you can pull the cotton and keep the pin in the middle of the hole...
  11. Oooops! For some reason I thought you meant the main nut. Have you got a set of spring compressors on the spring to take the load off that bit? I undid mine with an allen key bit in a screwdriver.
  12. Toad

    What fuel?

I always use Tesco 99 octane. Seems alright.
  13. Normal socket should do the trick.
  14. Use the air gun on the nut then. :) Should buzz it off in no time at all...
  15. Nah, think you're spot on...
  16. Take a 21 or 22mm socket and grind 2 flats onto it so you can grip it with a normal spanner, then just drop an allen key down through the hole to keep the strut from turning.
  17. It's a bit of wire that fits in the early metal rocker covers to prevent reduce the oil being blown into the intake.
  18. The bottom hose should warm up as water passes throught the radiator, that's the best wat to tell. The VR6 main water pumps do loose the vanes on them too, quite cheap ~£30 and not too bad to replace as well.
  19. I think that turboed cars should be quieter than supercharged cars, as the turbo does a lot of silencing of the exhuast noise. It certainly seems to be the supercharged VR6s that are the loudest on the rolling road days anyway.
  20. To be honest, I'm not a fan of polybushes, The original bushes lasted 17 years and 200,000 miles in mine, so i'm going to replace with the same stuff. I don't think there would be much difference between brand new OE bushes and brand new poly bushes in terms of how your car is transformed.
  21. Bloody hell. That's fooked. Is it down at silverlake?
  22. Use a self tapping screw to screw into the end of the roll pin that the hook pivots on then pull it out with the screw. Buy one of dave 16vs handle repair kits and the part and all the instructions are included. Alternatively use a small drill bit, they will normally catch the pin and pull it out too, at the expense of the drill bit.
  23. There's lots i don't know, like why people buy them, Lol. Worth getting a second opinion, everyone makes mistakes.
  24. I'll come and throw spanners around if you want, and if you promise to give me cuddles and beer afterwards.
  25. Sorry dude. Thought I'd tell you pretty straight. Even if you break the car and get decent money for a few bits, there are too many of them being broken these days to get rid of all the parts, and there's not the money in it either. Hehe. Yeah, you're doing well for spending in the last year. I know my cars owe me a lot of money, that I'll never see again... Hahaha. Nice one. I know a few people here are looking at TTs or have bought them. I suppose it's a [strike:1q7fh348]good step up[/strike:1q7fh348] modern alternative. A VAG coupe, 2+2 (unless it's a gayer spec cabrio). Just need to find the funds for it now I suppose. Is your bonnet late spec btw? i know someone who is after late wings, bonnet and bumper...
