  1. It great, means i can spend more money on part  Took a few up to date pics of it today (most recent ones have been of my car in bits), not washed it but its quite clean anyway
  2. Never seen this damper on my driveshafts tbh
  3. Measured mine just now and it was 84mm at its widest. Which is the little lip on it.
  4. Thats it, nice one, how did you find that?
  5. The other day i was reading a thread about VR6 Tappets/lifters, not sure how i found it, but can't find it again. There was a post by RW1, and it talked about flushing the engine and wynns not working. Am sure the word "flush" was in there but search returns nothing. Am i doing something wrong do you think?

    Part Help

I just typed them into google search: 1HO 953 257B is an immobiliser apparently. 535 919 845C says spoiler control module
  7. Thanks, its a revelation being able to do the work myself. When i went to a local place about it they kind of put me off having the work done, saying it would be very expensive and lots of work, almost sounding as if its not worth doing it. I found it all very easy really, is no special skills or knowledge required imo, just undo everything, and do it all up in the same way, i take photos of everything on my phone so refer back to them when i get confused/lost. I suppose being a professional mechanic is the same but with the added pressure of time limits and still earning money from it.
  8. Finished it now. Got engine all ready to drop in Dropped it in saturday morning By end of saturday i had got this far Then finished it on sunday Started 1st time and i drove out the garage, didn't have any issues to sort out/adjust. The only problem i had was reversed up the drive, put it in 1st and it stalled and wouldn't start again. Pushed it back down drive and all it was just a battery terminal now done up tight (must of been excited as thats the last thing to do up) Drives well, feels more responsive with the 263 cams, but i have a bit of a tappet/lifter noise from about 1800rpm to 2500rpm while on the move. Might try and engine flush.
  9. i have one of each, might experiment as my coolant gauge still reads low and i've now changed pretty much everything, including the whole engine
  10. Is there one available at the moment?
  11. Could be down to the spring lever inside the gearbox. Looked at mine and seemed a bit filmsy. There is a grommet you can pull out and look in gearbox. Might be able to see what is happening
  12. aww :( looks alright there
  13. Yeah sounds like the ignition switch to me.
  14. It doesn't look good for the future, in the 7yrs i've owned a corrado i've seen some dealer parts double or triple in price :(
  15. Do the 3 little plates that go between each pair of bolts help with this? or are they just for the hell of it?
  16. Going to give the car a proper clean soon. I want to strip all the old product off it and start from the beginning. Something i've never used properly is a TFR solution, just wondering what people use? Had a quick look on detailing world but they all recommend everything really. Anyone use this IronX stuff on here? Am i correct in thinking that doesn't remove wax?
  17. Did it myself, wasn't as bad as i feared. Bad Hole Make hole bigger with drill Hole is bigger Counterbore the hole The hole ist counterbored Make new thread in the hole New thread ist in de hole Screw in ze insert Use special tool to wind insert in and lock in place, ja! Insert is inserted Worked really well and i managed to do it all myself without cocking it up any further. The insert stuck out about 1mm and didn't sit flush, this was because the insert tool hit the back of the hole. I sorted it out though and manifold is on.
  18. I bought some bits from this place, think i got the link from one of Kevs posts. http://www.polevolt.co.uk/acatalog/shop.html Takes some navigating and i'm not totally sure if they sell what you need or not. VW sell the plastic terminals housings, i think i bought the stuff to do my header tank conversion from here. The terminal removal tools are very handy, and new terminals should just push into the housings.
  19. I'm a little concerned about my drilling and tapping capabilities, Drilling is one of them things i never seem to be able to get right, usually go all over the place and staying straight is hard  Went through my finger last time i used a drill :(
  20. Same here, already got some powder coated ones to fit, feel a bit gutted
  21. Was one of the exhaust stud holes in the head, if you are looking at the engine from exhaust side its the bottomest rightest hole. The stud seemed to fit in ok, but took some force to get it in far enough and once i put the manifold on it just kept spinning round. I might of got something stuck in the hole while cleaning that stopped the stud going in, not really sure. I'll fix it though. Didn't fancy a helicoil in the end as this option seemed the best.
  22. Got it today, don't get much for your money, this was £90
  23. The problem i had doing mine, was i needed to remove wheel to adjust the camber on the shock bolts, but as you jack car up to remove the wheel, the camber all changes as the wheels hang down on the suspension. So i couldn't measure it with the wheels off. If that makes sense. i think that is correct and not me being daft
  24. I did my camber with a small spirit level and used a big protractor to measure the angle needed to move the bubble a certain amount off centre. Then made both sides the same or matched them to the rear. Was a bit of a bodge but came out quite well.
