I often look around pretending i am in the market and notice not many late well specced VR's to choose from. Used to be about 100 corrados listed on pistonheads at any one time a few years back.

CM6 2LX is my postcode Would take £20 or £27 posted

I have one. Will dig it out in a bit.

Would it best to get it blasted and then send it off for any skimming or would the skimming people have ways of cleaning things up etc, i really need to find a local place i can trust. Valves are all out now, ran them through the ultrasonic cleaner loads of times, think i need to renew the exhaust ones for sure. Have not measured anything but can feel lips on them with my finger.

Mine started whining like mad a few years ago, i didn't replace it, the noise went away and has been fine for another 20,000miles. I get the occasional hot start problem, but that seemed to be linked to the 109 relay.
-
I think i will stop worrying about it then and just get on with it.

I already using the 263 cams in the car at the moment, i am rebuilding the engine i took out. Just not sure if i'd prefer the cams or the money for something else. Was quite happy without the cams and need to buy some new valves & guides, new timing chains and tensioners, get the head skimmed/cleaned, and possibly a new cat. I didn't notice a correct sequence for undoing the cams, i just undid them trying not to let them fall, didn't take the sprockets off either so were quite heavy on one end ---------- Post added at 9:22 AM ---------- Previous post was at 9:21 AM ---------- I already using the 263 cams in the car at the moment, i am rebuilding the engine i took out. Has it got an extra spoiler or is that the standard one? Looks high

I reckon each time someone buys a VW part, they add a quid to the price.

I got in touch with samco about my hoses and they said they didn't know what i'd meant and chucked the rule book at me about having original sales invoice, removing my hoses and sending them to them etc, i couldn't be bothered with the hassle and lost interest with them. Going to replace the leaky ones with something else. On my samcos the very inside (surface that is in contact with the coolant) of them have cracked/split and the coolant seems to slowly leak out the end of hose where they are cut off.

A bit concerned after reading my Peter Russek VR6 engine repair book last night. It mentions you must follow a procedure when releasing the camshafts to avoid cam shaft distortion caused by the pressure of the valve springs. I didn't know this and have already removed my cams, didn't follow any procedure, i just undid the nuts and left the cap furthest away from the sprocket end on so the cams didn't fall off. And i even undid the nut with my electric impact wrench. Is this really a concern?, seemed to be quite important and the fact its mentioned twice got me worried. Can i tell if my cams are distorted?

Just curious and thinking out loud, but could it be possible for the bearing to fail and then cause the wheel to seize up and in turn breaking the cv joint? ---------- Post added at 4:20 PM ---------- Previous post was at 4:18 PM ---------- Also, are there two types of hub nut? as yours looks totally different to mine

Will try and find time to fit mine this weekend, Do you still want old ones back?

Can't remember where you get the Beru one from, but mine has lasted years and happy with it, also using the Beru leads. Might of been from GSF -
Is it worth getting new springs? i see there are HD ones available, but quite expensive and may have to import from american. Am considering putting the 263 cams in (not sure yet, might just sell them)

I'm not sure, but everything i struggle to start the car, i seem to wobble it in the fusebox and next time the car will start. Might just be a coincidence though. Also i notice when i stop at junctions sometimes the engine has a slight pulsing feel to it. Am wondering if this will help that as battery and alternator seem fine.

Should get my ultrasonic cleaner sometime this week. Have decided i will replace the exhaust valves and the guides. Where is the best place to buy them from? Missed out on some that were being sold on ebay, set of 6 was £78. Not sure what to send off to get done at a specialist and what to do myself, is there much machine to be done apart from skimming the head, are the valve guide best left to someone else? Is lapping the valves something i can do? Does anything need doing to valve seats? Am wondering if the VR6 engine book i've seen is worth buying and reading as i'm learning all this as i go.

Think mine is having problems, car wouldn't start after a quick drive to a petrol station and then trying to restart it. Flicked the 109 relay and it started after that, has done this a few times, always a restart problem. Been googling and people on T4 van forums mention an updated 109 relay that is grey instead of black. Is this corrado applicable? Is VW the only place to buy it?

I'll probably paint or wrap it anyway. Will take it please, should i buy through ebay or here? Can you take the 30% off on ebay? Let me know whats best

I know when i jack mine up the very top plate part in the engine bay side sits down on top of the turret, but when on the wheels it stick up about 1cm or so.
-
Someone might buy it at that price, but i considered it was 17yrs old, someone needed to come and collect it and then fit it, so could end up being an expensive/time consuming thing. Plus i didn't have room to keep it all.

Is the scuttle panel in decent condition, no cracks etc around the fixing points. I would take it if its decent, but not interested if slightly tatty

I sold mine for around £80-90. Quite a lot of work to fit.
