  1. i';ve taken some 1500grit sand paper to it now, not sure on the out come yet
  2. Is this possible, some one has managed to move mine in the garage and decided to place them face down on top of a metal hinge and scratch one of them.......idiots. I had a machine polisher, and wondered if its possible to polish them? what would people suggest
  3. this came up recently and there seems to be quite a difference in opinion, i bought my vr6 with 131,000miles on it, its now just about to hit 190,000miles after 3.5yrs owning it and its still on original chains and tensioners. i think my piston rings and valves will wear out before the chains/tensioners, i mean where do you stop, do you replace the oil pump in case that seizes? i haven't noticed any engine write-offs mentioned on here due to chains/tensioners
  4. hi i got your message but not sure where to check. i know i have two wires with connectors in that sit near the battery, i think they are to do with air con. i unplugged them recently and forgot to note which went where
  5. i put copper grease on mine, but they do have stainless steel threads anyway. have you ever seen the socks that go over the springs?
  6. i've wanted to try it and been tempted to buy it, same as the dodo juice wax, i wanna buy them all. But the tin of collinite i have seems like it will last forever  :(
  7. this was a video i shot when i noticed mine had gone http://s59.photobucket.com/albums/g306/ ... V01312.flv i was on other side of car shaking it side to side. when i took the axle off the bushes were in pieces and most of the bush just fell out :!
  8. autoglym do a leather cleaner, i think you can pick that up at halfords. imo gliptone isn't special
  9. yeah am sure they do, in fact they must do as mine all sit properly
  10. i use the beru leads and the removal tool and they all work fine
  11. no wipe on, wipe off conditioner will never repair a crack imo. most i've tried just make the leather feel a bit softer and grippy for a week or two of daily use
  12. i moved mine inside the car, but need a decent bracket really to fix it to rear view mirror
  13. thats how i fitted mine, but found it a bit low. But it also clips on front grill from under bonnet, inside slam panel
  14. not checked all of mine, i bought 3 in total, tbh i used 1 once and that was it, they just sat on bookcase still in the packaging
  15. i could be wrong but i think anything bigger than the 288's won't fit under solitude wheels
  16. another vote for daves brackets, quality piece of kit, can't see that breaking
  17. you can get these bumper bars that i've seen before, they look a bit ugly but stick to the side of car somehow while parked. failing that you could stick some kind of slimline bollard around your parking spots
  18. do all corradi have airbags? i assumed i didn't have one
  19. Good for you. My upper pad wore down to the rivets at 93K and the engine was perfectly quiet. Stealth have seen engines with as little as 70K on them with bad pad wear. VW changed the design of the pad for a reason, but so long as yours is OK, the rest of us can relax and not worry about it. my point is: some people are spending up to £1k on the engine at 100k because people say do the chains. I choose not to choose chains, i choose something else  Even if mine has worn through something and isn't correct, its still running fine and has nearly managed another 100k with this "problem" i'd rather keep the money for when i need a complete new engine, even if you do the chains 100k early, when you then get to 200k do you do them again? I'm more concerned about piston rings/head gasket etc
  20. my vr is just about to hit 189,000miles and its still original chains and tensioners
  21. yes, i have the no rinse stuff. i hardly use it though, the only time i find i want to risk it, is when car has been cleaned and put in garage and just gathers dust, i use it while in garage to take dust off so i can wax it again  its good as a detailer spray
  22. my car was on about 160,000mile before anything was removed and nothing rounded off or caused any trouble. i did soak stuff with WD40 beforehand Slam panel is quite straight forward, just lots of bolts, but easy to find. I did support the engine, only with an axle stand and some wood, but didn't really need to i also renewed all the large bolts while there
  23. my bottle has lasted over a year now and still plenty left. Its one of the products where i've tried loads of different ones then found that to be the best so stuck with it
  24. they are a bit strange to get used to, did a light come on while charging?
