Time to fix them 15 year old seriously beat wheels of yours
Jim Bowen replied to corradog60stage4's topic in Exterior
i had some rims, not quite as bent as that, but i scrapped them due to the amount of damage, i didn't want to risk having dodgy rims tbh -
170K good SH No timing belt/head overhaul good or bad?
Jim Bowen replied to snattrass's topic in Engine Bay
i'm on 150,000 and had no overhaul done to engine, nor the tensioners done i think a lot of it depends how picky you are, mine does sound a little noisy sometimes, but seems to drive ok, could be better but not going to spend out on all that just yet. would rather wait and get the whole lot done, or an engine conversion, when it starts driving badly all old big engines from the 90's seem rattly to me, they just not the same as more modern ones -
i want a train or ferry horn, but they a few hundred quid and you have to lug around an air compressor

i was looking at the kit here http://www.awesome-gti.co.uk/vw%20corra ... nsion.html anyone know what springs they come with?
-
europerformance seem a lot more expensive than other sites, unless i'm looking at the wrong konis?
-
i fixed my electric window, spent ages getting old mech out and new one in, only to find out as i went to rivet it in that i'd left the old rivets on the new mech  had to take it out again
-
i deffo wouldn't downgrade from a corrado to an even older golf
-
anyone used the koni FSD shocks? are they quite new? the writing gumpf makes them sounds good?
-
i think i want the koni stuff now, i notice it on awesome gti store for £330, does anyone know what springs they come with or do i need to pay more for eibach ones? where should i buy from? also things like top mounts should i just go to the dealers?
-
i've only had mine a year and sometimes think of selling it mainly because its going to take alot of money to get the true corrado experience, i.e: steering is shite, suspension is shite, engine a bit noisy, brakes noisy, bodywork a little stonechipped somedays i think i'd rather a newer car without annoying problems that i don't know much about. it when park it somewhere and come back to it i fall in love again, it looks so fab compared to most other cars and i get a lot of good comments about it not sure what i'd get instead tho :(
-
thanks for that very useful i'm really not sure about gettig konis again, i think part of it is just that i've been there and want to try something different, even though its a different car. i'm having a garage fit whatever i get, so not sure i want to get anything and then me baffle them, i.e: telling them stuff needs trimming, when they will probably do it without anyway etc got car back from garage and they said top mounts are deffo buggered, and a rear shock is leaking, i also suspect the front one opposing that is buggered too, they both feel softer than the other two is it worth having these ball joints done too? while they have it apart it would be sensible to get other bits done at same time? even tho they said they fine (i'm not sure they have their heart in it as much as me) i'm just going to start buying parts myself and amassing them, starting with suspension kit and top mounts. car is pretty terrible to drive, i really don't enjoy it anymore :( i really not too clued up, but know a little bit.

i had konis on my last car and found them to be very harsh, even on soft setting or would it be the springs that cause that?
-
doesn't the pressure want to be the same as standard/factory tyres?
-
when people say geometry is this just the tracking? or is there other stuff that can be adjusted? will i need a camber adjustment kit?
-
Weitec Hicon GTN Coilover/adj ring kit £325.00 Weitec kit £247.00 H&R Cup kit -60/40mm £343.00 these are my choices^^^ what are the camber bolts?
-
before i go a buy a suspension kit i think either HR kit or the weitec kit, not coilovers will i have any issues with wheel camber and tyre wear, as when i've lowered a car in the past the tyres always wear out on inside edge? is there anything i should make garage aware of, don't want to go to pick car up and they not been able to do it for some reason
-
car is in the hands of the garage now. nearly crashed it lastnight due to the dodgy steering something is definately wrong, the transit connect and pug 306 i use handle better than my corrado tbh bit gutting, but i'm sure it'll get sorted
-
wobbly bolts wtf? they sound dodgy even on their own
-
did you decide on the suspension yet? also like to note your car looks identical to mine :! i too am tossing up what suspension to get
-
Weitec Hicon GTN Coilover/adj ring kit £325.00 ^^^ would i be better geting them or this H&R spring/shock set, or the weitec springs/shocks? like i say i doubt i'll be changing ride height
-
the back of seat still tips forward & back, so is this likely to be a motor? not sure if i'll replace it, as its only the passenger side
-
do you think the funny noises and instablity is down to top mounts and ball joints?
-
i noticed on my recaros the other week that the function to raise passenger side doesn't work, is that likely to be a fuse?
-
i'm not really after coilovers, just a spring & shock combo really am down to -weitec -bilstein -koni i've had koni before and found them too harsh/firm, i just want to take the wallow out of the bends
-
i'm thinking of getting the weitec spring and shock combo? i know they a budget suspension, but would anyone recommend them, any reviews of these?
