Have you gone back to standard cams now Jim?
-
Am sure they look a little bit different to the originals i removed.
-
I wonder if genuine lifters may be a slightly better fit, i've only used INA ones. Weird that fitting new ones made my noise disappear for a while (1500miles)
-
Yeah i do know what you mean Jim, i definitely had it on that 2nd engine i fitted and it went away after fitting new lifters, but it quickly came back. (the only thing i found when removing that engine was a small sign the exhaust manifold was blowing very slightly). Hard to work out what it could be as i've had 3 engines, 1st one suffered from what i thought was piston slap, 2nd one had that tappy noise but was a good engine, i still have it sat about for a future project, then the 3rd was mostly new parts but went very wrong. (I still think i could hear a slight hint of the noise though) I'd see what Vince thinks before getting upset about it, he must hear loads of them and will be able to say if its normal or not, it is a lots of lump of metal connected with metal chains all spinning round quite fast and was designed in the late 80's/early 90's so might just be the noise they make. Just strange that some are louder than others. When i'm more organised i could dig out the two heads from the past and see if i can spot anything that might suggest they wear in places.

I swear veyrons make the tappy noise.

Really like that. Don't seem to see many black ones. Must resist.

I borrowed a sealey tool from someone on here, did the job, i think it was just modified slightly. I reckon most bush tools would do it will a little modification/extra bits of metal
-
Nah, i only gave them the engine, have yet to take the complete car up there
-
I didn't really look that much, was only after coming back on here i realised it must have been your car. I've got a 4-5week wait until i know about mine, might be a quick job for them, but i think i'd rather them strip it all and check everything else. I reckon something has blocked an oil jet.

I can now say i've walked beneath Jims car

Not sure if this will happen to everyone, but this is my experience of the powerflex bushes. When my originals were shot to pieces i went down the powerflex route, mainly as i wanted to do it at home and thought it would be the easiest way (plus i could buy them from the place supplying the coilovers) After a few years i always found the rear end quite stiff, tried quite a few different spring/shocks combos, got rid of the coilovers and ended up going back to original bushes in the end. When i removed the powerflex ones i was shocked to see the amount of rust inside the mounting point, it was nice spotless clean metal when i fitted the powerflex ones, looking at the bushes they have 3 grooves in them and i could only assume this let water in and ended up corroded the axle, i had to scrap that axle and find another. So 100% i would paint inside where the powerflex bush mounts if you do use them. Gone back to originals now.

You can pull the bushes in with thread bar and an assortment of things to get round the fact one side of the bush is curved. I've swapped mine for powerflex and then a few years later fitted oem bushes. I wouldn't use the powerflex ones again.

Have you ever read about the warped disc myth on the internet? Basically people saying the symptoms are caused by deposits on the discs. I had it once and it was the only time i've used those discs with grooves in them (back in my corsa days)
-
What discs and pads are you using?
-
Exactly. Things get more expensive, with or without the EU.
-
Made mine from quicksteel

I bought KW V1's inox for £550 a few years back, think they are about £750 now
-
Pleased with my teves20 abs. Works lovely, definitely a worth while upgrade and does away with the bias vale on rear beam. You could always pull a sensor if you didn't want it on track.

Dug out my roof trims. Not quite as flat as i left them.
-
I think the front wheels are still off the ground which would explain that
-
Great news Jim.

I voted leave as i believe the people we vote in to power should have the power. Remain seemed to be mainly about money in pockets and free movement of people across a massive collection of countries with ours being the most appealing. We will deal with the short terms effects, i can't see the country going bust, if we do, Africa will have a charity concert for us and we just keep the comic relief money.

I swear they wait until i've just spent a load of money there.

Just googling. think its just this end bit that differs http://www.europeanperformanceproducts.com/shop/product_info.php/info/p2203_Adapter-for-Manual-Headlight-Adjusters---VW-Corrado.html/MSsid/ehs202td4tqh8b177g7er95ug4

I have a set of inpro headlights and meant to find out if the adjusters from them can be adapted to suit, they were the same except the end that clips onto the reflector. never got as far as finding out if the end can be swapped over, or if you can buy the adjusters from in pro
