  1. Used to be 100 or so for sale on pistonheads a few years back. Definitely a lot less for sale. Even on the forum.
  2. I buy stuff from Germany and from the USA, I just pay the charges on the stuff from USA, that'll be the difference, its not really that bad, can afford to pay it, i do and don't really think about it, i wouldn't base the future of our country on the fact we may have to paid import duty. I really think we can sort ourselves out, we got over that double dip recession and all that money the banks lost, Didn't see Greece helping out. I reckon the EU should be made up of all those smaller countries helping each other out, Germany and France should also leave the EU in my opinion. We can still work with the EU and listen to what they are doing to save the planet. Its not like they won't exist.
  3. Am starting to feel mine will be how i want it, don't want to go mad with the engine, i quite like it being NA, suits the car. Styling wise, mine is only really lowered a bit, i don't think the corrado needs anything, love my interior(nothing needs changing there), just needs a full respray to be perfect. I have done quite a lot of mods, but most of them are things you wouldn't notice that modernise the car without really changing it, Teves20 ABS, cams, replacing weak plastic parts with alloy etc, 288's and mk4 rears, fixed steering column, quick shift and then the fix kits for the parts that fail, doors handles, headlight switch etc Not a fan of totally standard, seems to be something people don't use or enjoy properly, just cart it about the country to get kudos from people and constantly reminding themselves of its "value"
  4. I've sort of gotten used to not driving mine  Have decided thought that there is no point trying to keep it as a dry day only car, i'll just never use it.
  5. I think my main problem is the roads and not the corrado
  6. I've had about 6 different sets, KW V1's, Weitec Shocks and springs, now have H&R and Koni shocks. I also found the powerflex rear bushes have 3 slits in them and water gets in there.
  7. He already had a pile of 2 or 3 engines on the floor  He can't complain, must be nice to have constant work and it all being of a similar nature.
  8. Going to be quite a tough ride with all the poly mounts. I just ditched my powerflex rear axle bushes, wouldn't recommend them.
  9. 10yrs this year, Put 100,000miles on it (almost exactly), changed about 98% of the mechanical parts on the car at least once

    Spal Fans

Very nice. What rad is that? I love the extra room you get with the spal fans. Can get inlet manifold off much easier.
  11. Been to a few with a mate, his family buy most of their cars from auction. All i really picked up on was the dealers there seemed to be a bit sneaky. You could see who was buying for themselves and then the gang of local dealers who must be their every auction.
  12. Probably best to keep that crank in the engine if it's that low mileage. Seems wrong to steal bits  I have got another one in another engine i could use as a last resort but would quite like to keep the engine complete. Might do something with it in the future
  13. You can upgrade it to a better one. Is a thread somewhere in the forum. Makes it easier to open.
  14. Are they all the same? 2.8 vs 2.9 etc. Am sure they are, but just checking may need to source one.
  15. Most other bits you can get to with engine still in car. I'd just do the clutch and chains, maybe oil change in the gearbox. You could end up replacing bits that don't really need to be replaced, can get quite expensive. Victor reinz do full engine gasket sets. Worth getting one and using them as you need them.
  16. Yeah am expecting about 6 weeks. Was just a convenient time to get it up there.
  17. Just got back from stealth racing, 5hr round trip to drop my engine off. Getting them to sort the whole thing out.
  18. I've bought a sachs one from the dealer for something like £280, the exact same thing in the same box from eurocarparts for £120.
  19. Includes the bonrath though, they aren't easy to find
  20. This explains a lot to me, i thought there was only two, the left and right one. When i tried fitted early style suspension spring i ended up with the left plate and thought it didn't work too well, so bought different suspension
  21. Sorry, been side tracked. Am off work next week so will get them, they are up in the garage loft
  22. I'll probably end up with a 5dr golf, hardly seems to be any 3drs for sale (do they still make them or is it just the GTI and R models?) They do have a lovely R32 in the showroom, but this is going to be my 2nd car for getting to work etc and don't want anything that i feel is better/faster than the corrado. Plus the R32 is £500 road tax instead of £30
  23. Well i just got back from the test drive. Drives quite nicely, although very similar to most cars these days, A3, Golf etc, i know they are the same platform so to be expected. Decided against that particular one, not sure i could live with the white and i could see a bit of a dodgy repair/paint on the front bumper. So then sat in a golf 63 plate and actually preferred that. I felt a bit cramped in the scirocco, the arm rest got in the way as well. It just didn't feel special enough to be a coupe, more of an everyday hatchback with coupe styling, so scirocco is off my list. Going to test drive the Golf next week, am also thinking i will have a look at the toyota GT86/Subaru BRZ, starting to consider a polo gti, but feel it might be a bit small.
  24. Oh and its white, which wouldn't be my first, second or third or fourth choice. Not sure about it yet, the colour is the only thing, apart from that it seems the ideal car.
