The Mk IV calipers are made of alloy so do not have a tendency to seize up. John at JWR (16vG60 on this forum) fitted mine to my C after the old calipers seizing twice in two months. The only change i beleive has to be made is to enable the calipers connecting to the brake line using a Banjo clip. The old carriers are reused!! Cheers Woody

I had new locks made up for my C. I had one for starting 1 for doors and 1 for boot real pain. VW garage brreze in Poole charged me £10 per lock and £8 to make the lock up for the doors and the boot to the inigition key.

Here is a pic of my C without number plate panel. It would require a lot of work and filler to smooth out that area and also lock would stick out looking strange

Suspension will be knackered by about 60,000 get it changed. The standard set up is not that expensive. You must remember to have the suspension set up properly alignment and such like as this can make a great difference with handling. A 40mm drop looks good on the corrado and setups are quite well priced

I replaced mine the other week when i got the car back from a respray. The panel is held on at the bottom with padded double sided sticky tape. Even through my panel was new the not warped at all it seemed to bulge in places near the top. To correct this a bought some padded double sided tape (number plate tape from halfords) to supplement the other fixings. Looks fine now.

Respray pics Car was resprayed by Russ at Christchurch Bodywork Centre near Bournemouth. He did an great job but did take a bit longer. i.e. i did not have the C back for the December meet in west sussex ( john dont you dare put that pic up of me standing near my mums Polo which i borrowed for the day).

I have just has the C re-sprayed and the car has not been started for a month. i have now got the car back but am only getting about 22 miles to the gallon (MFA reading) whereas i used to get about 33 -37 MPG. Could this be an inline fuel filter problem? Thanks in advance

There must be some kind of trading standards Ant to cover this. The local council where the shop is based must adere to their local council policy. Try searching for trading standards in the local authority.

Since last march i have spent about £3000 on the C not including the respray which is being done at the moment. Thats about £312 a month. I am Bl**dy convinced that the previous owners tried to drive it into the ground without spending any money on it :mad: . I hope i will get the car back before christmas been without it 3 weeks now getting really fed up driving a Bogey green Olop

When i bought my C in march it had 3 keys 1 for doors, i for starting and one for boot. Went to VW steeler with proof of ownership and they made up barrels for boot and doors in line with the inigition. Now only one key. It was about £10 for each barrel + £8 for the barrel to be made up.

I had a clifford concept 300 fitted in my g60 by a chap in west sussex ( mobile fitter) for £280. He does travel arround so try 07748357028. That included taking out my heep of junk scorpion alarm which was just adding more weight to the car ( did not work )

John 16vg60 was running ETKA on windows 95 O/S and it had the same problem "asking for me to change the screen resolution to 1280 by 1024 for installation" I installed windows me and it now works perfectly. This is only a guess but if you have installed version 5.03 and then cracked it. This should have been fine. But if you have upgraded to version 6 over the top of the 5.03 you will need to find a crack which will work on version 6 as in the installation process you would have overwritten the hacked versions exe file. 16vg60 changed mine from tusting pieces of metal which kept locking to MkIV golf ones. Much better

I asked the steeler to get a 91 g60 front near side bracket for the bumper for my C. They are now saying that this bracket is on back order. Has anyone on here managed to buy one of these lately. OR got one for sale! Cheers in advance starting to get worried now as on the 30th November car book in for intercooler clean out so would be the perfect time to fit it, as whoever stacked my C before i owned it did not replace it and bodged it on.

I pay £395 for a G60 max no claims from liverpool & victoria. Good company very helpful and not to many questions to try and trip you up with.

I bought a set of second hand wipers which had been Dremeled by I believe Darren (G-man) and although they were a great improvement on the stock wipers when I changed to the Lupo GTI wipers I could not believe the difference ( blimely thats what a wet road looks like! ooh I can see that there is a roundabout coming up) Excellent MOD

A new slave cylinder was £60 for steeler. 16vG60 fitted new one to mine last weekend

When 16vG60 fitted new suspension to my car. He mentioned that the standard bolts which VW list and bently to enable to set up for the new suspension height are not used. The upper bolts need to be of an uprated design which allow for more movement when setting up the suspension. John used these parts and had the car set up at the garage and it drives and corners so sweetly now i am amazed.

Next Weekend Work - Take car back to John to get a mate of his to install a Clifford Concept 300 All In for £280ish. Going to the steelers in the week to get the MkIV Golf door pin covers which flash in unsion as part of the alarm. Also found out that you can still get the original Leather gear Knob £21.95 +vat ( Mine has a split). I have tried a couple time on ebay to get one but no luck.
