Excellent stuff guys - thank you. All now done and dusted and tested. Nice one :)

That looks like a US bumper indicator repeater light. We don't have those in the UK - the repeater is a different shape and located in the wing.

I've already done my gearbox mount which was fairly easy, but is there a step by step idiots guide for changing the other two mounts with pics of the mounts if possible? Any help gratefully received - cheers :)

Nice one :)

There certainly is a bulb in it's own holder on my 94 vr :)

I had a wheel bearing go a few weeks ago - that was worse on coasting than on acceleration, and didn't sound like a classic wheel bearing failure - more of a groan with a squeak!! Hope you find the problem.

I use Autoglym Bumper and Trim gel with good effect on the window rubbers/door strips/plastic grill/front spoiler et al. Can't help with the wheel question though :)

Just picked the car up after another year's ticket. Both top mounts, front wheel bearing and new axle bushes later and it's all done for another year! No advisories other than a small chip in the windscreen. I've not got round to replacing the ABS sensor on the front offside wheel, so the abs light has been on. I just unplugged and removed the ABS light from the centre console. Nothing was mentioned :thumbleft:

Treasured VR6 written off! :( Advice needed to restore
timmaaah replied to scorrado123's topic in Exterior
I was under the impression if the other party is 100% to blame, their insurance company have to put you back in the same position as before the crash, and you could insist that the car is repaired, not written off, or have I got the wrong end of the stick (as I often do!!). Good luck in sorting it out :) -
White G60 outside the snooker hall in Hellesdon opposite The Bull at 2.30pm ish - looked super clean, standard and tidy :)

That's the one I've adjusted-the one at the gearbox end under the weight. Is there more adjustment at the gear stick end? Cheers
-
The adjuster at the gearbox end - the arm has a slot where you can move the anchor point. I also have one of Dave's short shift adaptors, fitted about 6 months ago. Is there another adjuster at the gear stick end?
-
I've been noticing a problem with 3rd gear. If I put the car into 3rd, remove my hand from the gear stick, then raise the clutch it just grinds and doesn't engae gear. If I hold the gear stick forward it goes in ok. The adjuster is fully adjusted to it's furthest extent. There's a bit of movement on the engine mounts - the gearbox one was changed several months ago - I need to get round to doing the other two. I've also changed the metal stud that the gear cable attaches to. Any ideas as to the cause? Another symptom is aggressive gear changes from 2nd to 3rd crunch, as does 3rd to 4th. Gentle, relaxed gear changes are fine. The box has done 131k Cheers.

My pump whined before I replaced it - the car ran a bit better too.

A 6 year old necro-bump. Well done

There's three positions for the lock: Slot vertical | = locked all the time - will not unlock with the central locking. Slot Horizontal - locks and unlocks with the central locking. Pusing the button opens the hatch if the car is unlocked. Slot rotated 45 degrees Clockwise from Vertical / AND then push key in manually unlocks the hatch regardless of if the car is locked or unlocked. If your alarm is set, it will go off ;) At least on mine it does :) Found the page in the handbook:

Mines a 94 vr with a single open slat. The car was originally from Guernsey.

VR rubbish idle and terrible mpg.....update possibly tps
timmaaah replied to timmaaah's topic in Engine Bay
Right - a quick update: My long term average mpg is 25 - I do 8 1.5 mile journeys a week dropping little one at nursery combined with longer trips to Norwich/Dereham for shopping and stuff - we're very rural, and the roads are narrow so not a lot of chance to get great mpg. On a 70mph dual carriage way run, she'll do 33-34 driving with gentle acceleration, but I don't do lots of that type of trip. Anyhoo - ages ago I discovered my throttle position sensor *may* be faulty, so I bit the bullet and got one from VW (for eleventy billion quid). I never got round to fitting it as it was much thinner, needing shorter screws. I got off my arse today and swapped them over. I also checked for leaks/splits and nothing. I disconnected the negative battery lead for an hour or so, then reconnected. I started her up and let her get warm - she seemed to be less hesitant blipping the throttle. I then went for a drive to Dereham - a 30 mile round trip on A and B roads. Before I set off, I reset the mpg. Driving with gentle acceleration saw a journey there of 29 mpg. After a reset and a drive back more spiritedly saw 26mpg with a total trip average of 27.5mpg. The hunting is almost gone - just spluttering once on the way back. That would tie in with my long term average. I'll keep an eye on it to see how it goes. TL;DR - it was probably my throttle position sensor. edit - I also found the fuel weep I'd been smelling for the last week or so - the fuel supply to the injector rail had a tiny, weeping split. For ****s and giggles I got a quote from VW - £55 + vat lol lol lol lol. I got a 1m length of hose from Walker Rubber and Plastics on Sweetbriar Industrail Estate for £4.50 including the vat. ---------- Post added at 6:55 PM ---------- Previous post was at 6:46 PM ---------- Thanks to Justin at VW for suggesting them (I can't re-edit my post ) -
Car's been running great - got 33.5mpg on a 30 mile run last Saturday and the idle has been spot on. Went out yesterday and I could barely coax it over 21mpg and the idle is hunting up and down. It keeps almost stalling, then revving then back down again. If I unplug the ISV (the plug leaving the isv still plumbed in as it were) the mpg gets much much better and it doesn't hunt for idle (although it is ticking over a bit higher). I assume the ISV is fubar? It's been cleaned several times in the past, and giving it a blast of carb cleaner yesterday made no difference. Why would a faulty ISV cause crap mpg? Any help gratefully received :)

Coz they're not just heated, they're heather too ;)

That looks good - what was the total cost, if you don't mind me asking? I need to redo my panel - I had e l wire glued in place, but the inverter blew up, so I took all the wire out. My dash is red, so I'll order the white once and put some red gel between it - I'll also mix in some blue so the heat control will be half blue and half red

Done :)

Anyone got a picture of late 95 VR6 relay/fuse box ?
timmaaah replied to Mawrick's topic in Engine Bay
I can take a pic of my 94 vr's fusebox if that helps? -
