What - in readiness for Nov 5th @ Santa Pod?? :?
-
Thanks Kev - it's like a curly version of Joni's Rotrex impellor! Jonis Rotrex.jpg[/attachment:w1h0wc9w] Do you have a shot of the turbine side?
-
A gripping thread - just read it end to end - a classic demo of good engineering and workshop skills - and a classy result! :notworthy: On the aesthetic side - agree with the guys, wheels go well [RX2's?] and the calipers are good - a refreshing change from Brembo red or Porsche yellow! [Watch out for VAG-hag's - coming shortly, though maybe next year!] I can't believe I've missed this motor on local meets - did you make the Post Office at M1 Jn 38 this summer? I note you decided to go for the fresh oil spray jets - what persuaded you these were needed? Do they suffer wear from contaminants?
-
Hey PaulMoVR6! Are you any relation of mine?
-
I think Opie might cringe at oil on 120 degC! I never suspected you of being cruel to Corrados Tom!
-
I recall Kev advised a 3ft bar! [or at least a v long one] I've seen plenty of mention on how tough they are to crack. Not heard of anyone trying an impact driver though?
-
Precisely!! James Wallace is either mis-representing the position, or simply can't read english!!
-
How do you go on in traffic then Kev? :? Manual switch?
-
Hey Kev Good stuff, but In your sig - is the rotary bit the turbine side of yr turbo? :?

Right - so should fit the Bora a treat then! :) -
Whilst the suggestion does grate a little - I have to agree they are a nice lookin' mirror. Was admiring them on my daughter's pearlecent BRG 5 only yesterday! They will add a bit to the car width though.

I've been reading comments about successful, genuine VAGcom leads and failing, substitute leads for some years and am totally mystified by this prob. Whilst I'm no electrical engineer, I do have some grasp of electrics, but fail to understand what this prob is. Unless I'm mistaken, we're talking of 2 connectors and an intermediate multicore cable here, so unless there's poor design or defective manufacture of 1 or both connectors, defective cable core terminations or incorrect terminal to terminal selection in manufacture, what could be wrong? Do either of the genuine connectors have internal trick circuitry? We must surely have an IT man in our number who can shed some light on this?

That's some graduation! Be warned though - you'll never stop smiling. You'll be smitten for life and will find yourself inventing reasons to go for a spin, also creating ever easier attainment targets which deserve rewards! Enjoy. :D

Hat's off to you Fay - you're one brave lady gettin' on the back seat with Tom!

Ha! My hand isn't as steady as your laser these days. :) So which calipers are the shields for? -

Don't do it!! :nono: Be true to the 12v movement! [Only green with envy  ] -
Well yes - charge cooling is better, provided your ambient isn't too high, as in Florida, and your air/water interface [ie cc size] is sufficient to dump surplus heat into the high thermal capacity cooling water, should you, at the end of a hot run, hit traffic, and you have good cooling of the cc. Both systems depend on air cooling and I'd be amazed if, at this very moment, Crazydave were not working on the design of a fan controller which will respond to the needs of the engine water jacket, the FI air cooling and the oil cooler.

Interesting analysis VWD - where did you pick up that stuff?? -
Happened to be in Kidderminster - DGAutotech sorting my Bora ARB bushes and some ecu probs - and Crazydave offered a spin in his VRT on his fave local circuit - Sheesh! - use of spare pair of trollies narrowly averted. :notworthy: That car is so well planted, smooth and well behaved for a 350bhp 12V. Dave very kindly offered a spell behind the wheel - what a superb drive.
-
What a classy, neatly developed machine! :luvlove:

OK - it's just I noticed a change in your sig from Sarf London. Didn't like to mention your taste in beverage - though I'm researching blonde whenever I can these days. Must be a seasonal thing. Monza could be interesting, Merc rising, warmer tyre venue, I feel a Button [barichello also] may be pushed! -
I notice the power drop-off is very abrupt, regardless of cam type, presumably a lot of turbulence developed somewhere? Or turbine limit reached?
-
Never seen a goat idling - do they get sort of horny?
