Removed the bumper, slam panel and wing this afternoon. The bumper carrier to the hit so not much damage to the car. My inner wing n bat tray are crumpled any ideas how to straighten these out? Or should I get the parts loose bolt em on and take the car to a shop? Oh found the IC was bust so time to go front mount I think.

Shot of my mount after removing all the damaged front end. Mount was bust before accident. Another thing to add to the shopping list. Loads of weld on the mount already.

It's the shared looms that do that mate. By that I mean you have 2 relays and 2 fuses feeding both headlamps. One fuse blowing takes out the whole circuit. It's a cr@p way of doing it and dangerous. It's also the lazy and cheap way to do it as they just pick the OE plug that's closest to the battery to pull the low current feeds from. What you need is a proper L & R independant loom. Being as I am not a God of electrics...The way to make this is?? Or is this the type of loom we are all talking about here?

Who is making these plug n play looms on flebay? Loom here plus fitting instructions on a PDF

Hi. Don't know the payout value yet but the car is going to be a CAT C.. So I guess I will need a VIC check. Category A: Total burnout. No value left in the vehicle Category B: Break only. Value lies in salvage Category C: Damage to car is more than total value of car Category D: Repair would cost almost as much as the vehicle is worth. Better to write off than repair. No comebacks for the insurers

Well the car was officially written off today  Just on cash grounds so I get to keep her and get the £'s yay. No fault attached to me for the accident. So its a busy time coming with parts a being delivered me thinks. The engineer that came out was great. Thought the car was well nice upon hearing from him today he said the the insurance guide on value is well off the mark for our cars. That guide being ala Gass's. He had no prob valuing my car and was happy to do so. Private sale price on a 91 G60 was supposed to be £1019 with 127k on the clock... He was astonished to find the prices our cars are going for and how sought after they are. Then even more shocked by the cost of VW's parts for said car  So with luck and parts I shall have her rolling soon.

Lets all drive to Russia what a trip that would be :D

 sorry that's very childish  It Is but I like you :D

Wow £100 deliverd that is great. reckon they will be superb with those clear lens's on the A eye's. Will ya have to fit a water spray to the bumper for an MOT pass. I have been told its ilegal to have clear glass n no wash system. Guess its cos the clarity is dependant on the lens being clear? Get lots of shots of em going in :)

Have handy a blow torch. Heat the caliper up around the nipple this will allow it to be removed without it shearing off. If that happens your well in it  If you can rermove the nipple then no need to replace. Most high street shops will have a selection of nipples available. Take yours in and match it up.

That was John Stapp. he was the guy that parachuted from space. the highest freefall in history. At the edge of space you fall in silence as there is so little air to fall through. he was interested in pilot survival at high G impacts. He was interested in rapid deceleration the sleds were fired then braked through water to stop in a few feet. He still holds the record for the highest G impact test. You are correct it did detach his retinas. He was left with a permanet hole in his vision. -
Before After

Refuse the cheque. State that the gudie they use for value is infact a GUIDE. Explain the car and get cars for sale of this site and from TCS they only really sell C's. This will help you. It helped me loads as I said earlier my 1st 60 was only valued at£300  With the aid of the guys n girls on here and some photos of the car in pre crash summer sunshine I got £3100 that is a massive leap. Click the link at the bottom of my sig. My gone but not forgotten corrado. It tells the story. Sad thing is will have to go through all this again for my new yellow 60.. We'll have to see what they say. Also this is a non fault claim you are entitled to have the car put back to pre accident codition.

I dont think you will mate, ive heard many times that ive you are in an accident that is not your fault you can demand that the other aprties insurance company has the car fully restored to its before accident condition. Maybe someone here can confirm but ive had a few friends on overclockers forum do exactly the same thing. Thankyou very much for that. Its all ammo for the letter n phone calls that are to come. I tole em that this is a cult car and worth every penny. I shall find out more on monday. Cheers
-
Oh. Cheers bud. Really that simple wow. Its just a new bumper, bonett n slam panel, lights n stuff. Well actually both fogs survived plus indicator was hanging out no lens but the thing still flashed  Thats great if it needs to go for a VIN check is that just to a local MOT station?
-
As it sez on the tin. Aftwr my recent argument with a Clio (not my fault) The car is priced at 3k to fix. With luck it will be a cat D write off. I shall be rebuilding it what sought of procedure do I go through to put it back on the RD? ie is it an MOT or something more in depth?? Cheers all.

Just a quickie to anyone reading this, VW will not do this if you're upgrading a G60 to a VR one (a common G60 swap) as they're not like-for-like. I'll go back in my box now :geek: I did. My deler or rather the guy from the bays said ahh label it as a VR. The VAG kit esp the VR felt awesome. My new 60 has a pettern clutch fitted about a year back so no point in me swappin it. You can def tell the dif.

I agree I just replaced my distance sender as its called. Soughted the spoiler out. Around £30 from yr local stealer. Transducer is what it is so I was told. My speedo needle was a hopin and a jumpin and the spoiler followed suit.
-
Big Tartan is correct. Early November my first G60 was written off. Yes thats two G60's in 2 months  neither my fault. For my 1st 60 my insurance offered me £300. That was it and I was unable to keep the car. After putting together a portfolio of photos from the cars full rebuild that took 5 months or so plus a stack of receipts I was offered £3100 with no argument. So as then here I am trying again to get my new 60's worth loads of printouts and such. Good luck

Now that would be a great memory to have. A load of us went over it would be wicked. You could get a TV show out of that a few DV cams n some good filming, Men n Motors here we come. 8)

Damn that is a write up!!! Well I'm hoping I don't have to take the whole dash out cos.. well i really don't want to! So hopefully with the detail from that one and the instructions from the one of here I hope I will be onto a winner!! No you don't need to take the whole dash out. I've done it with it still in place. Do a search there are some awesome photo's of folks with the insides of their cars in bits. My link on how I did it. I needed a new heaterbox the matrix sits inside it ie the Housing as said earlier. Good luck
-
Downer bud. Welcome to the club. I had my new G60 about 10 days and bang.. Ya can't win can ya. I hope they will fix it for ya. See my bang here

Well the report is in.... Parts needed upon visual inspection.. Bonett NSF Wing FRT Bumper NS headlamp Spot assembley in bumper (Both sides) FRT Panel assembley Paint and sealer materials = £254.90 Total Labour = £543.90 VAT = £426.25 Grand Total of £2861.95 Which is £39.05 less than what I bought it for. With the usual this is only a visual inspection more damage may be found upon rebuild. I have been given total clearance on the accident and no fault has been attached to me. I am driving a very nice Golf 2.0 turbo D sport as a hire car its very nice. Not to my taste inside nor looks but a cracking motor. I have done a web parts request and all parts are availble more or less in yellow. Esp bumper n front panel for £670 all in inc deliverey to where ever I need em. My only prob is that I am claiming of his insurance and I will now have to convince (all over again) that the car is worth more than £300..I am expecting the results of there valuation in soon.. So there ya go. I only got the log book back yesterday morning!!!!!
